  1. Also AT&T has it so if you have more then one phone on your account it's only $5 a day per additional phone. I'm sure Verizon has that as well. if you plan on doing that make to to activate the additional phone(s) as well as they all need to be activated individually.
  2. Sounds like he wants to use FB messenger, you can message them like a text and also video chat. Find out if he wants to just message them or video chat and how often he wants to. He can text them using Facebook messenger but can also do video chat using FB Messenger. If he wants to video chat you would probably need the streaming package. Depending on how many ports you are stopping at it could be cheaper to get an International phone plan added to his cell, it includes cell and data, added on his phone. That way he could video chat with them while in port. I know the AT&T package is $10 a day, only for days you use it. I believe Verizon is the same amount. I want to say the AT&T plan caps at $100 a month. The International plan will not work onboard when at sea as an FYI. It may be cheaper to add that onto his phone plan depending on how many days and when he plans on using it. If it's an iPhone he can do Facetime, FB messenger or other video chat programs. If another phone they can either video using FB messenger or other video chat
  3. I pack one of these from Ikea when I cruise or go to Disney. It works great. If you don't live near an Ikea they will deliver. https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/fyllen-laundry-basket-white-60522049/
  4. I believe all the Sixthman cruises are out of Florida.
  5. Every year they publish a list of ports and what docks each ship will be using. Here is the 2023 schedule last updated on Jan 23. https://claalaska.com/?page_id=1250 You can then do a web search for where the specific dock is.
  6. Those in balconies could also have upgrade bids in for say Club Suites or Haven. If those are accepted those balc cabins would then become available so you never know.
  7. As a PP said you choose you departing airport. So depending on where you live in TN it could require a connection (not sure if they limit it to 1 connection or not). I would think if you can get to a major airport with multiple flights to what ever airport you are using in Europe you limit your chances for a connection. But nothing is guaranteed. When I booked a cruise about 10 days ago I was discussing the BOGO airfare with my PCC and even she said there are more cons then pros.
  8. Not me. We had a nice relaxing breakfast in Moderno (that's where the Haven/Suite breakfast and lunch were served) and waited until last call. There were still a few hundred people in line so it was nice not having to wait at that point.
  9. My parents were on that cruise. Luckily for them they are down there for the winter so they had a place to wait. They had pre-paid for parking and the lot operator called them and told them what was going on and said to wait to arrive as there would not be any room for them until, the ship cleared.
  10. Hate having to grab paper work to keep me afloat 🤪
  11. We were also in a non-Haven 2br Family suite and it was basically the same for us. We either met in Moderno or near Maltings for each port to disembark and used the crew elevators or stairwells. In Seattle we met the concierge in the Stardust Theater and walked right out to scan our cards one last time. A great perk.
  12. Sometimes there will be Coast Guard inspections and that can delay boarding, especially if they find any issues. A couple years back one of the NCL ships had issues with a number of PFD's begin out of date or something like that and it delayed boarding by hours until they replaced those PFD's.
  13. What a lot of people report doing is dropping off luggage and the others at the cruise terminal and then only one or two people go to the parking lot. That way you avoid having to lug the luggage on the shuttle. According to google maps its about a 10 min walk and a 7 min drive on the shuttle.
  14. We did Alaska back in 2016. After we got back to Seattle we checked our luggage with the port concierge and explored the city again. When we picked up our luggage it wasn't too long before the ship was about to set sail on it's next cruise so we hung around to watch it depart. We got as close as we could to watch it go. A few people were hanging out on their balconies and saw us. We were close enough that some yelled to us asking if we had missed the ship and said they would let someone know so we could get on. We yelled back that we had just gotten off and was watching it leave. We told them to have a blast.
  15. There are a few YouTube videos of people running last min and some even missing the ship.
  16. As an FYI this is what it says on the NCL site: Shore Excursions $50 USD credit per tour for 1st guest
  17. Here is the official Boston Cruiseport site with parking Info. it sounds like it's the same lot from the above post. https://www.massport.com/flynn-cruiseport/to-from-flynn-cruiseport/parking-directions/
  18. Last year the 7 day April Boston/Bermuda R/T's were supposed to be in Bermuda from Sunday Morning to 7a Wed, a day at sea on Thur, and back to Boston Friday morning. After April they would still arrive Sunday morning but leave Bermuda around 4p Tue with a day at sea Wed arriving in Bar Harbor Thur and back to Boston Friday morning. The afternoon before the first 7 day R/T they announced that all April cruises would be leaving Bermuda on Tue with a stop at Bar Harbor on Thur. Some of the passengers on the first cruise didn't find out about the change until they were on board. One time on RC we were due to stop at Coco Cay at 8a. Around 7a they made an announcement that currently the winds were too strong but were due to die down. They then went on to say that if it didn't die down by 730 we would spend the majority of the day at sea but arrive Key West that evening as that was our next port. It ended up dyeing down and we made the stop.
  19. Ship - Pearl Deck - 11 Stateroom # - 11090 Stateroom Category – MA mini-suite Starboard or Port Side - Starboard Quiet Stateroom? 20. As an FYI there are a few changes to the mini-suites since that video was shot as there was a refurb. There are more USB ports in the room, yea! I believe there are now a couple (few?) at the desk and they now have them next to the bed. Also the tub is now a shower, or at least it was when I was on the Pearl in mini-suite 11090 last April. But I believe they changed them all to showers on the last refurb
  21. I'm a train conductor and a few years back had a bunch of Clemson fans get on my train heading into Boston for dinner. We got talking and after a while they handed me a $2 bill with the paw print. Still have it even though I'm a Boston College fan. .
  22. Same here in April of 2022 same menu throughout the cruise.
  23. My parents just got off the Dawn the other day. They missed Key West due to a late departure from Tampa due to the pervious cruise arriving late because of fog. They received mysterious OBC for about $49 total. As others said they didn't bother questioning it.
  24. Not quite the same as what you have planned but in 2016 we did the 7 day Pearl with our then 6yo DD. She had a blast and loved the kids club. We were just talking recently and she said she would love to do an Alaskan cruise again. She was a little jealous that my parents did the Spirit this past fall to Alaska. We did have a Kindle Fire and iPad loaded up up with downloaded shows and other then the train ride to Carcross YT and at night I can't really remember her watching them at all as she was usually busy or otherwise occupied. I wrote a trip report and the linkis in my signature below if you want to look through it. Hope that helps
