  1. One will also make an assumption. Or conversely, has read postings from the “we want more casual” dumbing down brigade and has no wish to play.
  2. There is also no restrictions on alcohol and mixers for stateroom consumption. Be afraid, be very afraid, as there is a bottle of PA lurking in one’s stateroom
  3. Take the wines, fizz etc., to the dining room lunchtime on boarding. Discuss forthcoming menus with Md’H to select appropriate. If no match, may one suggest to discuss the list of Bin Ends, being excellent wines at very reasonable prices. The Sommelier will open, breathe and decant your fine wine, ensuring it’s in perfect condition when dining.
  4. As there is a daily service charge added to one’s account, so there is actually no need to tip additionally to room stewards etc.. It’s up to the individual as to what currency and size of notes for extra tips.
  5. Just to add, as one exits the tunnel, downtown market stalls are on the other side of sea inlet (bay) and turn right about halfway up, you’ll not miss it. Wander and enjoy. Additional If of interest, as one exits the tunnel and turns right, about 50 yards down on the right, is a white building with a small door. This is a Supermarket, worth a look just out of interest and one might find what one wishes pre-packed.
  6. It’s okay, many Americans have difficulty in identifying a knife and it’s usage…. 😉😊
  7. If the offering is totally of one’s choice/s and not the Booking agent’s, then take t(e Verandah dinner with a seafood sharing platter and Wagyu steak.
  8. Think you’ll find envelopes are opened about 20 seconds after one’s back is turned at their work station. One now always discreetly give envelopes on the second from last evening of the cruise, or each section if multiples. With each envelope is the unused portion of a White Star card. Agree, about mixed currency also being acceptable. Cash is cash and cash is king.
  9. The 15% is pooled, but a cash gratuity is for personal service, identical to dining wait staff etc., even if one pays the daily gratuities.
  10. One has always used USD, or a mixture of € & $ for tipping. Plus retained daily gratuities. As crew’s employment has been reduced, can one suggest going large for good service and substantive for excellent. Or alternatively, which is becoming more noticeable, take the option to dine in the Buffet on the final evening. It’s one’s cruise and choice of “customary”.
  11. Send and enquiry via the Messenger service on the Hotel’s Face(reading material) page
  12. Send an enquiry via their Messenger service on the Hotel’s Face(reading material) Page. Also discuss a day room for your party to change, shower, store etc. Enjoy…….
  13. One’s career also had invitations to Black Tie and White Tie dining, and one retains the wish to uphold a Tux tradition. Currently on Cunard the invitations do deem a dark suit as being acceptable. However, if a current Tux, or Ball Gown, would enjoy an evening out, then go for it.
  14. This reminds one of a CC poster many years ago…. There are many ways to cross the Atlantic by ship, but the QM is the only way!
  15. Think Kali’s would suit, it has an American “freestyle” vibe……
  16. So sad to read this…… Can’t understand why all episodes were deemed acceptable. From one’s history on Cunard, any known HW or MD would have got a grip on all one’s concerns and resolved promptly, regardless of where they occurred……This is appalling…..
  17. One can use 2 forks and still be correct.
  18. Best to hire locally with a major rental company having representation in St M. Then any problems are easily solved local rather than long distance. Collection and drop off can be arranged close to quay. There is not much “wow” in sightseeing. It’s a holiday island. The one thing to consider is the 12meter yacht racing……
  19. Seaweed arrives mostly during “out of season” bad weather. There is no way to predict this. August is considered out of, but one’s best chance is to spend a day at the Marriott as they have an offshore breakwater and staff are vigilant in cleaning any weed appearing on it’s beach. Also, Marriott = No T’erds. Enjoy
  20. One’s best AI stay will be at Curtain Bluff. They have limited availability, so best contact them direct for bookings. Also, it gives one the opportunity to view accommodations (Bluff or not) for future stays. They a not a “walk up” establishment. About a 25 minute taxi ride from the pier.
  21. Good tip….. Been given before by CC members.. Don’t think this has changed. When booking flights with Cunard, one is only allowed to book seats as/when cruise balance, plus flights, are paid for (cruise balance due date) as it is only then, when the flight locator reference given, this to enable seats to be booked. By then, it is possible all decent seats have been taken. Best to pay for the flight when booked, then (think) 11 months from flight date, when the flight opens, one receives the flight locator, then immediately go to the carrier’s site to select/book seats.
  22. Work on $35 plus tip each way…. But the Princess ( @reedprincess )will be able to confirm the exact current rate. Also, think UBER now operates in St Lucia, but have never used them. As a comparison, a shared minibus taxi to the Rex beach is about $10/12 pp each way, for a far inferior dining, drinks and beach experience.
  23. Know that a Captain does bring aboard a full size Mountain Bike, along with the de rigueur kit. Could it be that the bike, plus apparel, were top end, so allowed on Cunard?
