    Gouda Cheese

The supermarkets are your best bet. Can't remember if there were vendors for cheese in the port shopping/market. If you're in Curacao as well, there's a vendor right along the walkway. But again, best prices are in the supermarkets.
  2. Chacchoben with Native Choice, no brainer!!
  3. I thought they only did AI there. But contact them and ask. https://www.elfuertebeachresort.com/en/contact
  4. Just opine that yes if you're looking for craft beer, you can go to Frenchtown Brewery. It's before Charlotte Amalie if your ship docks in Crown Bay. Good burgers and fries too. At Havensight there's Leatherback and Rock City. All 3 aren't near any beaches. So that's extra transportation. However, It's not that far of a walk from Havensight to the boardwalk in Charlotte Amalie. If going to Frenchtown onb own, Emerald Beach would be your closest bet for a good beach.
  5. IMO, Mexican food is very regional. In Cozumel, El Mercado down town is you best bet for a variety of Yucatan food. You want to get Conchinita Pibil ( the pulled pork) in a torta or taco. The panuchos with chicken and seasoned with recados. And the marquesitas crepes. For a sit down meal, you can't go wrong at La Choza or La Mission, both downtown. For Beach food, La Monina north of downtown and Albertoson the southwest side across from the entrance to El Cedral have really good food, not limited to the basic Am-Mex selections for tourists.
  6. We on board 1/14, with UDP. I'm hoping that after check in on 11/30 we can get reservations prior to boarding. We were on board by 11:30 AM in April and Izumi was fully booked lunch and dinner both sushi and habachi.
  7. With a vendor who has a good reputation, like Native Choice, your safety should not be an issue. It's easy to just grab a taxi and head to the malecon in Mahahual and go to one of the beach clubs there. See myrecent post in the Authentic thread here on food.
  8. In the port it's self, Cantina Latina offers typical Americanized Mexican. There is a taco kiosk that does serve good street tacos. At one time El Faro, a seafood restaurant was at the port, not sure if its still there. Most of the beach clubs along the malecon in Mahahual serve what isn't "authentic" Yucatan or Quintana Roo food but reasonably familiar dishes to American tastes; the seafood dishes are pretty decent. La Chilangaloense, along the malecon, probably has the most diversified menu, with aquachile fish, molcajeteado, some interesting seafood tacos and a couple of variations of ceviche. Also cajeta is available. The food att eh AI beach clubs tends to be a bit better than the pay-go beach clubs.
  9. It's just under a mile straight down LG Smith Blvd after the yacht basin and before the Marriott.
  10. @c-leg5 I've seen it both ways. Chartered ferry and ship excursion using public ferry. Chartered ferries do take all ship excursions. If ship excursion uses public ferry ship will wait for the excursion to return.
  11. This will help with shopping and things to do along 5th Avenue. https://www.playadelcarmen.com/blog/things-to-do-5th-avenue-playa-del-carmen/ It takes just over an hour to get to Tulum from the ferry terminal. Ferry ride is 45 minutes. If you have to take the public ferry from Cozumel, there's a 5-10 minute taxi ride from the International Pier. So that's closer to 3.5 hours total RT. With a public ferry you're also limited to their schedule. If Celebrity is organizing the ferry from the pier, you'll be told what time to be back to catch it. Most Tulum excursions are around 8 hours total.
  12. If Daniel's is giving you RT and Entry for $36pp. That's a deal.
  13. FWIF, the mac n cheese in Chops isn't all that great either. I've never had mac n cheese on any ship/any line that is equal to what any diner in the US can prepare from scratch. So as much as I love mac n cheese, it's not on my must haves during a cruise.
  14. If you're getting transportation and entry for $30 pp how is RT transportation $36 pp? As I recall, taxi fare 1 way is around $25 for 2 people and an additional $10 for each passenger 3 or more people total. Advantage is you don't have to wait for others and taxis move a bit quicker. There'll be a wait time charge at Daniel's. Around $7 per hour, I have heard. So cheaper by having Daniel's arrange transportation and entry, but a little faster RT via a taxi.

    shopping

One of the grocery stores. Superfood in Eagle Beach or Ling & Sons a bit closer to the cruise terminal. Taxi drivers know where these 2 stores are.
  16. Or soon as a table in the reserved section is available after 7 PM.They do seat reservations before walk ins

    shopping

All up and down LG Smith Blvd outside the cruise port gates there are many shops and boutiques. Renaissance Mall is also down that street. Around Eagle/Palm Beach there's the Paseo Herencia Shopping area.
  18. These food complaints and our experiences are a primary reason we typically avoid both the MDR and Windjammer. with exception of maybe a brunch on a sea day. We stick with Solarium Bistro, Park Cafe and the specialty dining venues. For the Wonder, we do brunch at Mason Jar on embarkation day, avoiding the dinner there. Likewise, Izumi Sushi, Players and Giovanni's are primarily lunch spots.

    Taxis

Yes! And some will give you great tours.
  20. You may want to post on the Bahamas board under Ports of Call.
  21. There's a taxi captain at Puerta Maya who can assist you. But taxi fare is 95 Mx$ or maybe US$5.50. for 1-4 persons.
  22. Maybe check out Maya Chan. They should be open in high season. South of the main malecon and limited number of guests. https://costamayabeachresort.com/ While there are AIs and beach clubs along the malecon, I wouldn't consider any to be luxury. Nacional might be an option along the malecon but the beach is in the middle with everyone else and lounger aren't anything special. Geared for staying guests. https://nacionalbeachclub.com/en/
  23. If you mean the village of Mahahual, there's not a lot to see. Mostly hotel entrances and some store fronts. Everything faces the water via the malecon. You can catch a taxi to the malecon , no need for a guide. Then grab a taxi back.
  24. You can head to the Belize zoo. It's a wildlife rehab.
