  1. The tour may be 6.5 hours long but starting times from Native Choice could dictate when that clock starts. Could be others on the tour as well. Also, Most likely your actual time in port off the ship could be 8:30P (or later) -5:30P . So given traffic, etc. You'd probably need to be back at Native Choice by 4 PM or 4:30PM. If you left native Choice at 9:00 or 9:39 you'd be cutting it close. So that's probably why they say not enough time. No clue about Toucan Tours.
  2. Yes, very doable DIY. But a lot depends on time the cruise ship is in Cozumel. And return ferry times.
  3. We used them a couple of times for their Caye Caulker Shark Ray Alley excursion. For Altun Ha we went with King David https://www.kingdavidbelizetours.com/
  4. I think you're correct, but Toffer died a few years back. There are some other dogs there now. Jack no longer owns the place.
  5. Yes. You can roll all the way down to the beach area. Bit of a struggle getting up from the dock and then back over the hill on return. But I've seen older one armed gentlemen wheel themselves up and electric scooters will make the climb.
  6. Most people do look at reserving in advance just to ensure availability. But if your ship is mid-ship and only ship in port you'll probably be okay finding a cart once there.
  7. Yes. You do need to reserve cabanas, but loungers shold be open, unless taken by others. https://www.grandturkcc.com/
  8. Those are the 3 bars. Fat Tuesday is the "party" bar. Pancho's Backyard is more for dining. 3 Amigos is the overflow from Fat Tuesday, IMO, but nice ship views from its deck.
  9. I think Hendricks or Botanist would be the top shelf picks for a martini that the barkeep just picks up the vermouth and sets it back on the bar unopened.
  10. Buffalo Trace/ Bulleit, or Makers? I think some ships still have Bookers. And teh Wonder has Whistle Pig at teh Mason Jar.
  11. You are better off at Las Palmas, IMO. decent snorkeling off their beach. Good Beach. Not West End beach but nicer than Mahogany Bay, which has zero snorkeling .
  12. Something to discuss with your original driver. I don't think there are taxis waiting for pick ups at the zoo unless waiting for someone they dropped off. But ride sharing is a common practice for taxis in Belize.
  13. Depending on the weather, you can head out the cruise port and walk in the median with shady areas up to the Hwy. Then turn left and go to the light house. The should is wide along the highway and there's a bar/ restaurant a short way down before the lighthouse. Go right along the malecon at teh Pemex station.. About 3 miles +/-.
  14. Safe taxis at the port. Be sure to look for a green license plate. Look for newer vehicles. There aren't meters, fares aren't regulated so be sure to negotiate in advance. I think it shouldn't be more than Belize$150 (US$75). Some cruisers only doing the zoo, have gotten there by bus. It's a lot cheaper. You need to take a taxi to the bus terminal. I've heard take a regular bus not an express. About a 45 minute ride. Not sure about where to catch a bus for the return. I can't opine any more on that.
  15. Most, but not all of those taking part in Yeshiva week are families with children in Jewish schools. Jewish schools tend to attract the more observant. While dates may vary, Yeshiva Week falls at the end of the winter semester. Typically 10 days of holiday. That usually means the third and fourth week of January. And the group is usually booked on the newest ship or one of the Oasis class ships out of a Florida port. So somewhat easy to side step if you want to avoid.
  16. Has this opened yet? Was thinking I recalled sometime about now. I think it'll attract the 40-50 set (Gen X?) traveling without kids. If there is a loud DJ pumping out Top 40 Hip Hop, the older crowd will stay away. But I'm guessing it could reduce the people who usually head to Coco Beach Club and won't impact the other beaches.
  17. To be certified kosher by the rabbi the entire area must adhere to to kosher restrictions. It's not the same as food allergies or gluten free for a few celiac sufferers. And I doubt other cruisers would want to pay $70 pp just to eat there. Yes we eat at the Bistro quite regularly on cruises. Especially breakfast. But there are plenty of options on the Wonder to dine.
  18. Spring Break is a totally different animal than Yeshiva Week.
  19. Tommy Bahama is only in Playa Nothing in Coz.

    Gouda Cheese

there are 2 in Eagle/ Palm Beach. Super Food and Ling &Sons. I believe those are the closest. Bus line L10A/B stops right at in front of the cruise port. Taxis are around $8 one way plus wait time.
  21. Dang!! Thought this was going to be about Jack Daniels!!🙄
  22. This is why you simply hire a taxi to give you a tour. Taxi drivers are proud of their island and will take you to places where the tour buses don't go. And to good local restaurants and shops. But yes the lighthouse is extra for everyone.
  23. There is another shopping complex right across Ralph Melgar Blvd from the International Pier. As with all shopping in Cozumel, there are pushy vendors and lots of knock-offs and scams, especially with leather and jewelry. Caveat emptor.
  24. Sad to hear. There used to be some great restaurants in the town if you were staying there.🙁
