What are your thoughts on discussing politics in the MDR?
frantic36 replied to thermal's topic in Ask a Cruise Question
Not necessarily a cultural thing. My husband is Australian and is a private person and prefers not to be asked or give an answer to what he does. As others mention we prefer to discuss travel related topics like places we have been or want to go, food etc. -
Thank you all for your reassurances. I will take the suggestions onboard as they sound sensible. Looking forward to trying Regent later this year. Currently onboard Sojourn with multiple sea days and have enjoyed lunch in the MDR most days. MDR food has a smaller menu but I can always find food I enjoy and there is the option to order something 24 hours in advance even for lunch. I must admit after Trivia finishes, in which there are almost 150 participants, the Colonnade gets extremely busy. We have gone to Colonnade twice in 2.5 weeks thankfully early and that's enough even though the food has been good. But from my experience on other luxury lines any buffet can be busy at lunch time.

So which is it? Easy to get tables for two or easier if you agree to share? My question is, Is it easy to get tables for two if you dine around 8pm?
-
I am not sure that is this case with Compass Rose as well? I just have often read this response of being prepared to share in all the restaurants which makes me wonder if they don't have many two tops.
-
We are trying Regent this October and are also late diners. On a few occasions we are fine to share with people we don't know But we much prefer to dine alone or with friends. I keep reading this need on Regent to be prepared to share and it does concern us.

I do like Westies but these boys are Japanese Spitz puppies which look the same as American Eskimo dogs. Sadly they passed a couple of years ago but I missed them so much I now have another boy the same. Our sons take good care of him when we travel.

As a fellow Australian I can confirm it is exactly as @cruiseej stated. The staff at Seabourn Australia are nice but there are quite a few new ones in the last year or so and they quote from the book and aren't familiar with how it works when actually on the ship. I'm on Sojourn at the moment so I can check for you they still do it this way. I do private tours so am not familiar with current practice but other friends tell me they do this for tours they absolutely want to pre-book so they don't miss out.

Beautiful picture and I am a bit envious. We are on a different cruise line in the Pacific heading to Hawaii and it has been grey and rocking and rolling for a few days now. The good news is the weather is getting warmer from LA and we can go ashore tomorrow.

So why havenโt I got this charge applied? I have only been on since 11 January?
-
I am confused what @lady ahoy is referring too with her $210 card charge. I see in your history your cruise starts on the 11th Feb. We are currently onboard Seabourn and just checked our bank statements and have not had any $30/day or any other charges from Seabourn. We also had nothing charged prior to boarding so no bond has been applied.

No, we are on the cruise following. We start in Sydney with a charter flight to Honiara. From my reading on hear there have been no ports as yet that have been suitable for snorkelling or scuba so no one here can explain their experience. @Fitstylist55 was kind enough to find out information while onboard Pursuit about SCUBA. I was planning to get my TA to check with Seabourn closer to sailing date about snorkelling equipment though I will take my own snorkel.

Luggage Forwarding services, yea or nay. Our nightmare....
frantic36 replied to shark b8's topic in Seabourn Cruise Line
We didn't use our Air Tags when we used LF for our Grand Voyage on the Quest last year because they say you can't. Another friend who did a grand voyage on Odyssey last year did and had no problem. I am risk averse and had read about people getting luggage delayed due to Air Tags being discovered so that's why we chose not to. We have used them for recent travels not using Luggage Forward. -

Seabourn Completes Starlink Installations
frantic36 replied to nancygp's topic in Seabourn Cruise Line
I've used WhatsApp to chat with my sons and it worked well with a little lag and that was pre Starlink. They look after our house & dog while we travel so good to be able to keep in contact. -
On my invoice under guest information I can see as the last entry any Seabourn OBC. What I get from my TA is on a seperate email which I keep to show Seabourn if it doesn't show up when on board. I think that only happened once and my TA sorted it out with Seabourn.

As long as people don't complain about waiting due to a queue because many turned up early. I have no issue with people turning up early otherwise.

Excursions for Australia & New Zealand
frantic36 replied to Teachkids2's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
Thank you for this suggestion. We will be in Tauranga in February and planned to climb Mt Maunganui and then have lunch nearby. Looking at the website Latitude 37 sounds like an excellent choice. -
Ideas for Perth overnight from ship
frantic36 replied to cruiselvr04's topic in Australia & New Zealand
I live in Perth and would not be doing a train trip at midnight after going on a long, tedious bus drive to see the stars. I wouldn't feel safe especially as you would be tired then. Going to Rottnest is lovely and you can hire a bicycle, though I hired an e-bike in advance. That was fun and we had lunch at Pinky's Cafe with great fish and chips. Lots of little coves to swim. There is also a bus you can take around the island. Check out the quokkas the are often to be found near the bakery, don't feed them though. Get a selfie with a Quokka like Roger Federer and many other famous people. The food and wine tour could also be good and the river cruise back could be nice. Our Swan river is very wide and healthy. I live near it and when I walk the dog I often see various birds like our black swans, pelicans, ducks, Ibis etc and also fisherman. -

Maybe I am too polite but definitely on our flights in USA in January & March 2023 if we aren't part of the group they called, which we weren't, we hang back until we were called. YMMV -

frantic36 replied to ChicagoCruiser2007's topic in Ask a Cruise Question
There isn't always plenty of overhead space in premium classes because some people with status, families etc who have been allowed to board before you on US domestic flights have taken the opportunity to put their bags at the front of the plane. Another reason I don't like flying US domestic. I don't understand why they do it. -
How many days until your next cruise??? Part 2
frantic36 replied to Host Kat's topic in Ask a Cruise Question
10 before I fly out๐ 12 before I cruise๐ I'm starting to get that excited but slightly rushed feeling. -
Thanks. Interesting reading. On the little hand lines we had for fishing piranha earlier this year it would have been a challenge to get it on the boat.
