  1. If anyone is curious, here are some of the choices. Bourbon 1792 Small Batch Buffalo Trace Bulleit Jack Black Gentleman Jack Wild Turkey 101 Gin Beefeaters Bombay London dry Bombay Sapphire
  2. Leonardo da Vinci Sangiovese Duckhorn Cabernet Sav
  3. Villefranche does have port based tenders which were large and frequent.
  4. We were on a 10 night Rome to Lisbon on Viva. No theme nights that I recall.
  5. You can only upgrade to the plus package on the first day. Also if on the regular package, note that the upcharges are generally less in the Haven venues than elsewhere on the ship.
  6. The Haven is on the aft of the ship. The Observation lounge (open to all) is on the front. This is not a caste system because a caste is non-voluntary and can't be changed. When you go to see a broadway type show, you choose whether you want orchestra, floor, box, or balcony seats. Or you can choose to not go. There is no choice in a caste system. One reason many like the ship in a ship concept is that by paying more you have all the extra perks but can still enjoy all that a bigger ship can offer like more entertainment, restaurants, casino, etc.
  7. Just wondering if this is only on Viva or Prima as well.
  8. All of the Haven cabins and facilities are together on the aft of the ship. We met several other groups in the Haven on Viva. We never met anyone in Haven on Breakaway. I thought it was better on Viva.
  9. Thanks for the tips. I'm more concerned about availability than menus I guess. For example Pommery Rose champagne was on the menu in Haven on Viva on my last cruise but wasn't always in stock. They told me they only were allocated 2 bottles and when that was consumed, they had to order more. And I found not all bars have the same things. e.g. Whiskey Bar had 1792 Full Proof, Haven did not.
  10. I'm wondering the same thing about the premium plus but also about availability. Could you confirm what types of bourbon in Haven bar and maybe take a picture of the Haven bar menu? Thanks!
  11. It's kind of like the flights to get to the embarkation port. They have people in first class, then economy plus, then economy. Or you could fly Southwest where all the seats are the same. So I guess you could look for a cruise ship that doesn't have the Haven or similar.
  12. Well for a little while, one could hope!
  13. What alcohol do you get in the Owner's suite? Can you ask for bottles of the premium plus whiskies like Blanton's?
  14. Here is a link to beverage prices on Prima. Viva should be similar. It should help on deciding on the drink package. https://static1.squarespace.com/static/617ac6f28abd337ac8fc5f75/t/63767925521fb22e7f19072f/1668708648572/NCL+Prima+Standard+Drinks+Menu.pdf
  15. I'm looking forward to reading your review on the Prima and hearing what you liked and didn't like. We had a balcony room on deck 13 on Viva. If you walked up to the railing and looked down, you could see people on Deck 8 pools and loungers. But when sitting or standing elsewhere on the balcony, all you could see is the ocean. I'm sure it's the same for the aft cabins.
  16. I hate to point this out but if what you want to do on vacation is be in a swimming pool, a land vacation would be better than a cruise. When you think of the size of the pool with the bathing load all day including kids, it's kind of scary. Definitely don't put your head under the water. Was at an all inclusive resort on land on loungers next to the pool. This about 30 yr old guy stood in the waist deep water talking to his friend's next to us. He drank over 10 beers in 3 hrs and never left the pool. I had 3 beers in 3 hrs and had to get up to go to the bathroom 3 times. At least that pool was massive.
  17. I think lots of cruisers have valid opinions about all sorts of things. But if you disagree with someone, there is no excuse to mock them about not being a marine design engineer or whatever. Accept that there are more valid opinions than just yours and say something constructive. I have noticed that on many ships there are large spaces that are empty at certain times of the day. So I think NCL has tried to fix that such as by having the theater convert into a nightclub later in the night. But this design is not a perfect solution and it seems NCL is making changes as they go along. One problem is that a lot of people on the ship want to do the same thing at the same time. My advice for people cruising on this class of ships is to "zig when they zag" i.e. try to figure out what everyone else will do, and then don't do that. If you want shade outside, don't go up to the 17 pool deck to look, go to the shaded side of deck 8, etc. NCL could help by expanding hours in some venues like the buffet.
  18. Isn't that true for all outdoor spaces on all ships? I would say though that I think this Prima class is better suited to warm weather cruising.
  19. I was recently in the Haven on the Viva and found it to be far superior to my only other Haven experience on Breakaway. All Haven cabins are together on the aft. No courtyard but rather a large 2 deck outdoor area, larger Haven restaurant including outside seating, large indoor and outdoor bar, and dedicated Haven elevators. I'm already booked for Prima Haven on next cruise.
  20. Why would you pay to be in Vibe when you're in the Haven? Prima Haven has a great outdoor area with a bar, hot tubs, pool, and upper adults only sundeck.
  21. I agree that everyone should cruise the way they want to. There is no right or wrong. I did want to point out that there are lots of couches and seats in the Haven lounge that are rarely occupied.
  22. I think it depends on who the third person is; i.e. sharing the bathroom, dressing in front of you, sleeping in the living space. I have only stayed in the H6 on Viva. Both bedrooms and bathrooms are very nice and private. Living space is small however so depends on how often you will be there. Because both bedrooms have doors, you can have your butler quietly come in every morning while you are asleep and leave coffee, juice, fruit, croissants, etc on the table to be there when you wake up. We enjoyed that quite a bit!
  23. main Haven bartenders are Guy from S. Africa and Davietta? from Phillipines. Also server and barback Klevi from Albania. Not sure about concierge.
