The length of time it takes for me to readjust to land is one to two weeks, depending on length of cruise and marine conditions.

If Boston is “home”, put yourself on Porter’s email list to get the best deals and avoid the nightmare that is Toronto Pearson: FLY PORTER
-
Where is “home”? We took a flat-rate taxi to the airport, Porter Airlines to Toronto, then on to our final destination (Washington, DC). The train is also a good option. Of course, that depends on where you’re going. 🙂

How is HAL handling the main dining room these days
*Miss G* replied to a topic in Holland America Line
@RuthC has the correct answer in that Main is the 2nd fixed seating. -
I have a North America plan but kept it in airplane mode when we were at sea. I found that was plenty sufficient due to the number of ports, but I am not tied to technology when I don’t need to work. Check your provider for Cellular at Sea coverage/charges because that’s what your phone is going to connect to once it loses local services. Turn off data roaming if you don’t want it to perform updates and synchronization in the background.

Your key cards will be in an envelope in the “mailbox” outside your cabin door. -
I am so sorry. 💐

New to Holland America? This is for you...AKA "HAL For Dummies"
*Miss G* replied to Host Walt's topic in Holland America Line
Sorry you couldn’t find the icon to submit comments on the Navigator app because the crew receives the recognition right away. Check your junk mailbox for the survey. Sometimes I find it there. If you get one, it usually arrives within a few days. Sometimes they aren’t sent at all. -
Covid Testing Requirements Mandate for U.S. to end Sunday
*Miss G* replied to Losnab's topic in Holland America Line
When you disembark a cruise in Vancouver you are entering Canada. When you fly from Canada to the US, you are entering the US. Flying was the only transport left where you needed a negative covid test so, no matter which way you enter, you will no longer need a test. -

How is HAL handling the main dining room these days

Sadly, it is a much greater problem than that. Their reservations system does not allow for traditional dining (same time; same table) so it must be done manually, leaving the staff constantly having to fight the technology. On our sailing, they just gave up. Case in point: -

Having experienced the same misery, I literally LOL’d when I read this. 😂 -
Nope, you’re good! Have a great trip!

Actually, your post wasn’t that misleading, @Fouremco, because it’s the same concept with regard to change in information. Sometimes it’s just as simple as having your passport verified at check-in. Especially if it’s been renewed. Also, if your husband has a similar name to someone who has come to the attention of law enforcement, they will need that extra step to clear the flag.

Passport help! 18 hear old birthday trip and grandfather’s funeral…
*Miss G* replied to knitdiva's topic in Canadian Cruisers
Hmm. My father and I had an appointment for passport renewal in November. I got expedited service (travel in Less than 10 Business Days) and my father was offered the same service, even though he was not traveling. Even though he did not get the expedited service, he received his by mail within two weeks. Maybe you’ll receive it quickly also. -

Is expedited service no longer available? -
I made an appointment to renew my passport in November. I was a bit concerned at the line when I arrived, but that turned out to be full of people who didn’t have appointments. Went to the officer on the appointments side and was let straight in.

No bad experiences with Westjet and haven’t flown Easyjet. It’s just the stories you read of delays and cancellations directly related to the epidemic. One good thing about Easyjet is that they have multiple flights per day, so if you miss your connection there are always more. Fingers crossed for you here too!
-
Would love if you could come back to share your experience with those connections and airlines. I have to admit I am a bit nervous for you.
-
Apologies. For some reason I interpreted that you were flying back to the US; not that you were boarding the ship. If you are unable to get one done prior to departing the airport then do click on the link in my first post to save you from having to travel back to the airport. I will be happy when covid testing is dispensed with for boostered passengers as all these hoops we are jumping through are tiring.
-
I realize you are venting but the testing is a requirement of the US gov’t and nothing to do with Vancouver. If anyone should be providing the testing it should be Holland America. Have you tried Align Travel Clinic? They have appointments for Saturdays. I also agree with @cccoleto check with your hotel.

Yes, the Club Orange menu follows the MDR menu with an additional entrée.
