  1. I have read it can be hard to get a lyft/uber on morning of cruise when needing a ride from a galveston hotel to the pier. I read drivers reject requests because they want to take people from pier to the airports where they make a lot more money. One poster said their request was rejected 5 or 6 times before they gave up and called a cab. That was one person, but makes you wonder. I was thinking we may need to call a taxi.
  2. Hi there...Do the diamond vouchers cover Starbucks on Allure of the Seas?
  3. Okay thanks. For some reason I remember checking in my brother and his spouse too (linked reservation), and fudging the passport info until he could go in and enter the correct info. Good to know it isn’t necessary to do the initial check in. Also, thanks for the info about choosing a time for each person. I didn’t really remember that part. Thanks again!
  4. what information is required to do a quick check in?
  5. I'm seeing VIP passes, Key, for $32.99 a day. It's the same price, other than when it price went up to $34.99 and Black Friday $30.99.
  6. LOL! It was maybe 10% doubt. It was the first time I had heard the Solarium bistro has made-to-order omelettes. If it makes you feel better, I would have checked it out regardless of their post LOL!
  7. Thank you so much for checking! I'm glad it was confirmed the solarium has made-to-order omelettes. Didn't realize it would be tricky to find. I will be honest...I have never been in the solarium bistro for any reason before LOL. Now I have a reason!
  8. It just surprises me. I have been getting made to order omelets in the windjammer for probably 10 years now (8 cruises).
  9. I read on another thread there is no more made-to-order omelet station onbaord allure. I always thought the Windjammer had it. All the ships I have been on have had it. I knew the Wipe Out Cafe went away and their made to order omelet station went away too, but I thought the WJ would have it. Can you confirm that?
  10. Oh interesting! So you got an email saying arrive an hour late and then another one saying arrive at your boarding time. That is a first that I am hearing this. I haven’t cruised on Allure. This August will be my first time.
  11. If Izumi Hibachi is a goal, book it first as I have heard there is limited seating there.
  12. I have always enjoyed Chops, but we have never tried 150 Central Park or Sambas. Both have come highly recommended and we can't wait to try it out for our Allure cruise in August.
  13. I'm wondering if someone in a junior suite has a better chance of being upgraded to a grand suite over a person in a lower category. Or it may just be whoever bids higher. I figure if i win a grand suite, someone who bids on a junior suite, will upgrade to the one we vacate. At least I hope so LOL
  14. I often wondered how this worked. I am in a junior suite for my August cruise. There are still plenty of grand suites available. I wondered what should show up in my royal up bid email. I will be sure to try the magic number LOL
  15. following along. I'm on Allure next August. I am curious if notification was given to arrive an hour late to the pier for this sailing? I keep seeing folks post they received an email about check in telling them to arrive later.
  16. We have family that may stay outside of Galveston to save money. Perhaps stay near Texas City. Does Galveston Saltwater moms pick up from there and bring to the port? Or is it better to have a Uber/Lyft pick up the morning of the cruise?
  17. My brother and spouse are going on a cruise. Originally, he was going to stay in Galveston, costing him over $200 for the night. However, now his inlaws are going and they are trying to help pay for their room. I suggested he consider not staying in Galveston to make it cheaper for him. Can you recommend hotels in the area? Somewhere around $100-$125 a night? this is for late August. I'm guessing further out there is not hotel transportation to the pier? What would be the best recommendation for transportation from a Texas City hotel to the Galveston port? Thanks in advance for your feedback.
  18. I keep hearing about RC asking folks to show up an hour later for their cruise. It has been happening for weeks now. It sounds like they are trying to get things figured out. I would assume they would leave an hour too. I think about the folks who don't get that email though. I also think when you have people ignore arrival time windows, it creates a huge cluster flop too.
