  1. Good morning all.  An interesting assortment of days for sure.  I’m sure we all have unique talents so let’s celebrate us!  I just can't picture squash and spinach together in a lasagna.  I’ve switched from using pasta to strips of zucchini, it has become a favourite.   I think I would like the drink suggestion made with vodka and not gin.    @rafinmdlooks like we bought real estate the same year!  My thoughts are with those on Roy’s care list and a shout out to those celebrating.  Have a great Tuesday everyone.  A year ago we were waiting impatiently to disembark the K as we had an 11:00 am flight - we made it with the help of a great taxi driver.

  2. Good afternoon all.  I have had to sign in to CC more often then ever before and today I got refused for 15 minutes so I went and started something else and am now just taking a break.  Love the quote, never a fan of Dr. who (DH was), don't like espresso and am glad that someone explained about the numbers, saved me from Dr Google!  I like scallops, but today’s dinner will not be decided on until after DH returns from his 2 hour dental appointment.   This is just the start, the finishing will happen in the early.  The drink recipe has too many ingredients in it, so I will pass on this one. My thoughts go out to those on Roy's care list and my best to those celebrating.  Thanks to the list makers  and researchers, your efforts keep me coming back several times each day.  A year ago today we were here!

  3. Good morning all.  Some good days to celebrate.  I can't wait to celebrate “end of Covid 19 day”. Thinking about JFK and where I was when I heard the news.  I too will pass on the meal suggestion for today.  It's beef short ribs slow cooked, mashed potatoes and roasted carrots.  DH is the chef today.  Thank goodness I got my outside decoration done Friday and yesterday as right now it is wet snowing.  Thanks to Rich for rising early to get the daily thread posted and to Roy who follows him .  A day without reading the daily is a sad day indeed!  My best to all.

  4. Good morning all.  Interesting days to celebrate.  I have had a pair of those “Canada” red mitts for many years.  Our used to be Canadian owned Hudson's Bay store (now just “the Bay) sells them every year.  I once took a pair on a cruise and gave them as a gift at a M&G.  I will take a pass on the menu and the drink (although the drink does sound interesting).  My thoughts are with those on the care list and congrats to those celebrating.  Thanks to Rich, Roy and all those who contribute to make this thread an informative one.  I will be putting the finishing touches on my outside arrangements today and then thinking about tackling the inside.  My best to all, happy weekend.

  5. Good morning all.  A good collection of celebrations today.  No chicken dishes for us today, but I do like the drink recipe.   I have to put on my decorator cap today - the greenery we bought yesterday has to be arranged and since it's a beautiful day here I can work outside.  It will be a long day and I might have a drink when I am done - or maybe before I am done.  More wonderful memories from our last cruise.  A year ago today - St Kitts.

  6. Good morning all.  An interesting collection of days.  I think I only ever bet once on a horse race, of course I was not a winner.  Lots of chicken recipes over the past couple of days.  Will we ever see grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup?  Today DH and I are off to buy greenery to decorate our flower urns.  I have 8 pots lined up, 5 for us, 1 for our neighbour and 2 for DD.  Thanks to Rich for his efforts and to Roy for his lists, the care is is getting longer.  My best to those on the care list, get well soon!  A shout out to the those celebrating.  Have a great day everyone.

  7. Good morning all.  Interesting days today.  I never have sent an electronic card as I spend my spare time making cards.  I have never made bread (yet) but have made cinnamon buns using yeast that I had to “borrow” because none could be found in the stores.  Another chicken recipe to think about for the future.  I will take a pass on the drink of the day.  Thanks to all who contribute, a great group of posters.   My best to all, have a great Tuesday.

  8. Good morning all.  Thanks to all the contributors to this thread.  A good collection of days to celebrate.  I read the meal suggestion out loud and DH pulled out his recipe file and found Parmesan Chicken that he has made previously (without the tomatoes).  We have leftovers from yesterday’s birthday feast for DGS to finish off tonight.  His choice of birthday cake was a lemon meringue pie which I made from scratch and there's leftovers of that too!😀 we had a wet and very windy day and night here, a lot of mess to clean up this morning.  Any leftover leaves that still needed to be raked are now someone else’s chore.  The drink of the day is somewhat new to me, I have enjoyed the few that I have had.  My best to all on this chilly Monday.

  9. Good morning all.  We are right in to recycling, hardly any “garbage” these days.  Philanthropy - giving DGS $$ for his birthday that we will celebrate today.  The meal suggestion sounds good for another day as we are having chicken tonight, Greek style - on skewers.  The drink is one of my favs.  I live the quote!😂.  Thanks to all who contribute to make this a happy place to visit each day - we have a lot of lookers - 1300 yesterday!  A busy day, make lemon meringue pies, wrap presents, make a birthday card and then help DH prepare the birthday feast that DGS has asked for (he’s turning 12).  My best to all, enjoy a peaceful Sunday.

  10. Good morning all.  I have already had a few laughs after reading the posts. Hats off to those that are celebrating today,  our Covid numbers are up in Ontario and our city has moved into the red zone which means even more restrictions.  We don't have any problems following the guidelines but it is obvious that others do.  Costco is right up on things - they are now selling 5 layer masks.   The dinner suggestion sounds yummy and will go on my “to make later” list.  I am not sure if I have ever had the drink - but I will for sure.  We are affected by the ship switch - Zuiderdam to Volendam (next October).  We had a backup plan in case we didn't get the cabins class that we wanted - we did and will stay with the V as we love the itinerary.   My thoughts are with those on Roy's care list and I send my best to you all!🦋💐🍾

  11. Popping in really late, but it is still the 13th.  Sounds like a lot of you had quite the time with CC.  My thoughts are with those on Roy's care list and sending cheers for those celebrating.  Thanks to all who contribute to making this thread a huge success.  A lots of posts today, glad I finally got here!

  12. Good early afternoon all.  A good collection of days to celebrate for sure, but for pneumonia it should have “shots” added on.  We had chicken soup last night and it was oh so good.  The quote is spot on.  Thanks to all to contribute and to our keeper of the thread a huge thank you.  Yesterday after we watched the Remembrance Day service on TV we went to our local cemeteries to pay our respects.  Each military grave had a Canadian flag 🇨🇦 in front of it, even the empty spots that don't have a stone yet had a flag.  Four years ago one of the military centuries at our war memorial in Ottawa was gunned down by a deranged person (who was later shot by guards in our parliament building).  Corporal Nathan Cirillo is buried in the cemetery we visited,  his parents and son were at his grave when we got there. His son is 8 now.  It was a very sad experience for us.  When we went to the other cemetery where DH's grandfather is buried there weren't any flags but something else very meaningful.  On top of each veteran's gravestone there was a small stone with a painted poppy on it.

My thoughts are with those on Roy's care list and a shout out to those celebrating.  I wish it could be all of us getting good news about future cruises that we have booked.

  13. Good morning all.  A great collection of days.  The menu suggestion sounds yummy, it has been added to my list of “to make”.  The drink is also on my list, once I get on a ship.  My DH’s grandfather served in the Boar and the First World War.  After DH’s mom passed and while clearing out her house we came across a package of post cards that his grandfather had sent to his wife and sons.  The post cards were printed in France, the handwork on the front, we are not sure of it origins, we suspect France as well.  The souvenir menu is from the RMS Corsican on the coronation day of King George V.  I hunted up some pictures of the ship.   My best to all.

  14. Good morning all.  Another beautiful day in Southern Ontario and a few more to follow, until I suspect we might get the weather that @ger_77 just posted about.  The quotes are good ones (as always), they do get you thinking.  It's leftovers for us tonight and I know that DH would not like the meal suggestion.  I am not a fan of whiskey so a pass on that, but it is nice to read the recipe.

have a great Monday, my best to all.

  15. Good morning all.  Thanks Rich for your maps and all the other info you impart to us each and every day.  Thank's Roy for your care and celebration lists and to SS for the drink recipes each day.  I would gladly drink a Pina Colada, preferably on a ship, but theses days anywhere would be good.  Tonight it is Vietnamese take out.  Every Sunday our DD and DGS come for dinner, DH and I sit at one end of our 6 foot table and they sit at the other end.  Once dinner is over they leave, but before they do we discuss next week’s menu.  Our discussion tonight will be about our DGS's birthday dinner next Sunday.   The 2 quotes of the day are true for sure, I have to pass on anything containing coffee.   My best to all, have a wonderful and peaceful Sunday and to those in ETA’s path, stay safe and dry.

  16. Good morning all and happy Saturday.  Thanks to Roy, Rich and all who contribute to this thread.  I am not a fan of bittersweet chocolate but I am an avid reader and there are a few of DD’s bears still here that I could hug.  It is going to be a glorious day here so DH suggested steaks on the barbecue, I will take his suggestion and pass on the lamb.  Have a great day and my best to all.
