We just booked NCL Spirit in August for 16 days from Vancouver to Hawaii. Has anyone been on the NCL Spirit? since it was refurbished? any highlights? Is our first time going back to a smaller ship in ages. LOL How is the spa Thermal suite? We may forfeit the Spa pass, not sure yet. Thank you.

NCL Spirit shows &spa questions
spanishguy1970 replied to Thunderbird19's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
we are doing the Spirit next August Alaska to Hawaii. We are looking forward to it. We always book the spa pass, but we may not buy it on this cruise. It will be our first time on this ship. -
rule of thumb when it comes to gift cards, first ask if they have expiration dates or fees attached to them, and if you get them today use them tomorrow or as soon as possible. Bank gift cards like NCL gift cards were, start accruing fees after the first year of no use, they deduct small denominations until the card has little to zero funds.

Does anyone wait until the DUE date to make final payment?
spanishguy1970 replied to LGinPA's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
yes we do, no point in giving them the money ahead of time. -
NCL Reducing Entertainment Staff Across the Fleet
spanishguy1970 replied to JT1962's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Since their entertainment to me seemed repetitive, same old bad comedians, same old magic shows, same old same old i won't miss some of them. On our last cruise we didn't go to any shows and we had a good time. However, on smaller ships like the Gem they used to bring impersonators, singers that were outstanding but not so much the bigger ships. Once you see the shows with Franky valli and the fours season music over and over again you are pretty much done. :-)...IMO -
Turn Down to be reduced to once a day 2023!
spanishguy1970 replied to ulster-cruiser's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
adjust the daily service charge, simple as that, or just not cruise. It went from 16 dollars to 20, adjust it to the original 16 that's what we intend on doing and offering extra tips to the people we think deserve it. This may not be a popular response to some but as Rhett Butler would say, Frankly my dear.....:-) -
oh i stand corrected. thank you. It says in the rules that if cruise is canceled and rebooked with a cruise first certificate you lose the additional value. I guess that's different. CruiseFirst certificates are valid for new reservations ONLY that book and sail within 3 years of original certificate purchase date. Voyage date must be more than 120 days from original purchase date. Not applicable towards canceled/rebooked reservations. If a guest with an existing reservation cancels and rebooks the same ship and sail date with a CruiseFirst certificate, the additional value of the CruiseFirst certificate will be removed.

Onboard Epic now - impressions and Daily
spanishguy1970 replied to Ohio boomer's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Well, have fun booking a TA those are my favorite. This will be our last TA until maybe next year. We usually do TA in the Fall, there have been times we do them East bound and Westbound in the same year, but this coming fall we are hoping to do Hawaii and Alaska in September on the NCL Spirit. -
and i believe with cruise first you are not allow to ask for reimbursements or credits if the cruise happens to go down in price before final payment.

Haven Restaurant Service Charges? Are these new?
spanishguy1970 replied to Labracadabra's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Good question, Who knows. Once we gave our bottle of wine to a couple that was doing a back to back. -
What's the appeal of the thermal spa?
spanishguy1970 replied to pookel's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
i agree. Once upon a time used to be a lot quieter but now some people have to be told they are in a spa in order for them to be quiet. We enjoy how warm the Spa is kept but on our last cruise on the Escape we had to use our towels as blankets it was kept really cold in there and when we asked why apparently because of complaints that it was kept too warm in there LOL...so to each its own i guess. -

We were just on the Escape, and were not able to use Starbucks cards. I hope that helps. -
Do we need to prioritize getting onboard?
spanishguy1970 replied to gzmtlock's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
nothing really, for us is about just getting on, relaxing and enjoying lunch on board. IMHO -
We will be on the Epic again in April 2023, our 6th time on the ship. I hope she would like in great shape. The unfortunate part now is we are 121 days and are telling us we can't book the spa pass online we have to wait until we get onboard, that's a shame, first time i see that.

Gratuities, does the employees actually get them?
spanishguy1970 replied to MikeACY's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
we do too. We leave our steward or favorite waiter an envelope with cash at the end of the cruise. 9 time out of 10 we find a great waiter or waitress and we ask to sit by their section at dinner time, on this last cruise we met a very attentive great waiter. Once upon a time we used to wonder if the staff would get any cut of the daily service charge, we don't anymore. We try to award the ones that give us great service. -
Gratuities/Daily Service Charges increasing!!
spanishguy1970 replied to shof515's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
it has nothing to do with inflation and everything to do with greed, want employees to be appreciated? pay them higher wages, period the end. -
they call second guest sails free but they really don't they just charge double occupancy to the first person :-)...LOL
