  1. Last week, we arrived at the Port of Miami at about 10:15 a.m. One of our three checked bags was at the cabin at some time before 1:30. The other two showed that they were in the same location we left them with a porter until an hour after sailaway. I canā€™t tell you how upset I was at the thought of seven nights on a cruise with no clothing šŸ˜”. They. magically appeared in our cabin at about 5:30 p.m. WTH, Apple?! So much unnecessary stress. Then, for the rest of the cruise, we could tell every time the steward was in our cabin with his iPhone, because I received a notification that our luggage was no longer with us.
  2. The promenade would have been okay based on what we paid, but I would prefer to avoid it if possible. Ironically, the absolute noisiest snorer I have ever heard (who has cost me many hours of sleep because of the volume of his snoring) is afraid there will be noise from the parties on the promenade that will keep him from falling asleep šŸ˜‚. I bid on four varieties of OVs, and it is the lowest category that is showing pending. Our preference is almost always OV over balcony because we never use a balcony enough to make it worthwhile, so we would be fine with any window in any location.
  3. I booked an interior guarantee at an excellent price for the November 2 sailing of the Independence, to create a B2B with the previously booked November 6 sailing. Last week I saw a muster station assignment, did the barcode trick, and saw an assignment to a connecting promenade cabin. I am not crazy about those cabins, and my SO is definitely not pleased. I bid on four Royal Up categories at that point. My documents became available yesterday, still showing GTY. Today I see that three of my bids are expired, and one is pending and unable to be modified or cancelled. If I remember correctly, this is an excellent indication of success, isnā€™t it?
  4. I think there is a date that has yet to be announced for that change. I recently checked in on the website for November cruises and have the ā€œnormalā€ view of my January cruise under ā€œupcoming cruisesā€. But the one in August has a new section added that states. ā€œCheck in opens on the app on July 11, 2024.ā€
  5. That is surprising, but good to know, thank you. The last time I did it was back when the limit was $200, or $250 if you showed them an American Express credit card. That was many years ago.
  6. I think it was @Merion_Mom who stated it was no longer done. I have a short list of CC posters who are always right, and she heads the list. My memory, though, may not be as accurate.
  7. Not trying to be argumentative, but that information dates back to 2017. I believe check cashing was discontinued several years ago.
  8. If you have ever participated in a Meet and Greet, they have your CC username.
  9. Thank you so much for this! I just did a screen shot and printed it for our Celebration cruise this Sunday. I have been reading Jammanā€™s review (for the third time) and making notes, but you already did it for me. Plus, yours is legible šŸ˜‚
  10. Two hours ago, the 11/2 sailing was $149, now it is $353. I grabbed it late Sunday evening for $152 to create a B2B with a free casino sailing on 11/6 and make that trip to Miami worthwhile. I checked immediately after booking and it had gone up to $341. Is it possible they offer only one cabin at those prices? I saw one at 9 p.m. on Sunday and the other at 7 a.m. this morning, perhaps not popular times for browsing.
  11. No, we will be on the Carnival Celebration. There is a ā€œCarnival Kitchenā€, where they hold a variety of different cooking classes. We took Pasta Masters on the Marci Gras last year and want to do Pizza Masters badly enough to tie up Cozumel day for an 11:30 class.
  12. We donā€™t have Cozumel booked until January 2025, other than next month when we are taking a cooking class in the middle of the day. We might be glad we went as recently as we did. I guess I will eventually get more info here on CC, where I find the majority of what I need to know.
  13. We were at Nachi on August 31, everything seemed to be the way it had been in the past. I think I am a bit disappointed with that news.
  14. Same here for some, others are even more than the cabin price. Makes it hard to scan the list, but the actual price does show up once a cruise is selected. It was heart-stopping upon my first view, though šŸ˜‚. It will probably be corrected once most people are up for the day and they will wonder what we are talking about. But the insomniacs certainly had an unpleasant surprise!
  15. That makes sense, but I hate them so badly I wear them only for morning exercise walks and theme parks. And at theme parks I put them on and off in the parking lot. There are words for this, probably girly girl and OCD, maybe others šŸ˜„. I decided to take them so I can ride the Bolt again, so they will be there if necessary. Thanks to all who reassured me they werenā€™t required for their experiences.
  16. The Carnival Kitchen is on the Mardi Gras and Celebration. I am pretty sure the classes can be found and booked under specialty dining, but the website is down and I canā€™t verify that. There are a number of classes - pizza, pasta, tailgate party, pie, cupcakes, etc, with around 12 stations of two people each. They are now $40 each (used to be $35). They last around ninety minutes and you can eat whatever you cook, but are not allowed to leave with it. You will receive a spatula and copies of the recipes to take home. We enjoyed Pasta Masters, learned a few things, and even bought the picture (we never buy pictures any more, but made an exception since we enjoyed the class so much).
  17. Thank you! I spent 35 minutes looking at the ballet flats on Amazon, but I just canā€™t do it. Too many years in sandals and flip flops, my toes hurt just looking at the pictures. I will take the walking shoes that I hate but am used to. But I feel much better about them now šŸ˜‚
  18. I have lived in Florida for twenty-three years and been retired for six of them. I live in shorts, sundresses, bathing suits, and flip flops. Literally the only closed-tie shoes I own are the tennis shoes I wear for my morning walks. They might get to cruise next month!
  19. I vaguely remember that possibly being a requirement, although if it was, I couldnā€™t/didnā€™t comply for the pasta masters class on the Mardi Gras. We are taking a pizza class on the Celebration and I donā€™t want to be turned away, but I hate to take tennis shoes that take up so much space in my luggage.
  20. Yes, I had the same experience - eventually šŸ˜‚. Was 9:30 - 10:00 still available for you? Iā€™ve never had a choice that was that early. I had printed luggage tags a while ago, while they were still in color instead of gray. So I am ready to go!
  21. What will you do with the ducks? If I find any, I take one or two to hide on another cruise line or ship (especially those tagged with the current cruise info). I leave more than two in place or rehide them on that ship. I have kept only two (well, three if you count both of the twins):
  22. The glitch has changed. Now I can select an arrival time (and the very early ones are available), but I canā€™t print a boarding pass because the medical condition question does not allow me to save, showing checkin as incomplete. The arrival time was my goal, so I will let the rest go for a few days.
  23. I just called ā€œwebsite assistanceā€ and was told an impossible, ridiculous story. I was told that all of the arrival appointments were already taken, but they will add more later today šŸ™„. So, two hours after appointments were available to only Diamonds and Platinums, they are ā€œtakenā€? I explained that very nicely, but she stuck to her story.
  24. Yes, me too! I got up at 2 a.m. to do the checkin and get an early arrival time. Completed the entire checkin process and do not have an option to select arrival time. Boarding pass states ā€œTBAā€. Very frustrating!
  25. I wonder if originally it was designed to be a quiet, adult atmosphere, until they saw the popularity of Virgin Voyages? Are they trying to attract the party crowd or appeal to those who find the Icon to be too family oriented?
