  1. I prefer reading non fiction. How is the selection in the new libraries? Most pictures I have seen show lots of fiction.
  2. It’s not really a cut as they make money on specialty dining. They really must need to space out the MDR rush
  3. Have you talked with any fellow travelers who attended the watercolor classes? I’ve seen a few on the schedules. What was their opinion? Sorry about missing the port.
  4. @Loreto how beautiful. I love the loose style. It’s so much harder than people realize. I am @rmlwatercolors on instagram. I use squeezed out and dried tube paint.
  5. Hopefully I’ll find some kindred watercolorists on board. I don’t say I’m self taught as I’ve learned so much from YouTubers and books, but it would be nice to be in person with someone else painting.
  6. So not necessarily a given on a TA. It’s not considered a GV is it?
  7. Thanks for the info. It think your drink idea was a good one. Sounds like it was very basic. Maybe color theory which could be interesting for some whether they are interested watercolors or not. Maybe I’ll just bring my own and paint as I feel like it. I’m probably intermediate level.
  8. Thanks for the info. Sounds like hers was acrylic maybe.
  9. I’m curious about watercolor classes. How common is it for them to be offered on a HAL cruise? ( I’ll be on a TA. Zuiderdam) Also, what are they like? Cost/no cost? Thanks
  10. Thanks for the review. I’ll be on my first HAL cruise on Zuiderdam in the spring. Did they have a trio that played music in the Ocean Bar?
  11. Question: How come Victoria can count as a foreign stop but Vancouver can’t? Alaska cruises often make that short stop at night to Victoria to satisfy the law.
  12. Thanks so much for this trip report. I’ll be taking my first HAL cruise in the spring. It’s a TA on Zuiderdam.
  13. I’m 51 and happily live in a 55+ Florida condo complex. (The benefits for marrying an “older man” 😂)I think I’ll totally enjoy my upcoming spring TA which will skew older.
  14. On my upcoming HAL (Zuiderdam) TA will have only one stop in the UK. It will be Falmouth. I’m thinking this ship is large enough that we can’t dock there. So we will tender. I’m assuming we will have to do an immigration check. Anyone have experience of how smooth the process will be? Will we most likely tender? Last cruise we had this situation in Bar Harbour. It was an awful mess and we almost missed out non ship shore excursion.
  15. Yes. G is partially obstructed. H and HH are totally obstructed. What I did was look at the deckplans and Halfacts.com to decide. We chose ours 4092 because of location as well as view.
  16. The G cabins have less obstructions than the H or HH. We just booked 4092 on a sister ship. We think the larger windows and lower are worth the obstruction. Plus ours is right next to the elevators. A plus for us although many would find it a minus.
  17. Not sure what you would do with your luggage but the Riverwalk is pleasant. https://thetampariverwalk.com/
  18. Have fun! Hoping to go on our first HAL cruise in the spring. I think we’re totally ready for the HAL atmosphere.
  19. This is totally not what I expected. I never expected a fee either. I just thought it would be a beach area for adults only. More spa/zen like. But then my next cruise is with HA. 😆 If it gets more people away from the free beach areas that’s fine by mean.
  20. Hmm. I verified AARP days ago but never got an email. I booked a cruise yesterday online. (May 2024) At first it said I qualified for OBC from AARP. The website was wonky and I had to start over. Now I’m not showing AARP OBC. The chat said to wait 48-72 hours. I don’t want to reverify my AARP online because it may show a new verification date. I’m hoping to transfer to a TA. Hopefully they can help if needed.
  21. We are considering a TA in the spring on NS. We tend to prefer early seating on other lines. Heading East when do they turn the clock ahead? Midday or overnight? With losing the hour does early seating just feel really early? (The anytime dining might work for us too, but we kind of like having the same servers each night.) Also, I was looking at a seating plan for NS fixed dining. It looks like there aren’t too many two tops. Does the anytime deck have more two tops? Hoping it works out to go. Would be our first TA and first HAL. We usually book cruises less than three months ahead. It’s kind of scary to book so far out for us, but also afraid to miss the early all in special right now. Im learning so much on this board. (AARP for example!!) Thanks all!!
