Prime and trade in cruise certificates
nelblu replied to Flojoe8's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Since the 1st leg is a NYE sail, you may have difficulty getting a free cruise due to the special pricing attached to those sails. However, you probably can apply one of the $1k instant rewards certs. If I understand your inquiry correctly. Ps. Get in touch with the Royal Cassino desk. -
fully paid cruise cancelled by RCL without our knowledge
nelblu replied to TeamCan's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I for one would not eat any loss of moneys. I would argue for any OBC or refund for any losses. -
Lobster for lunch? I haven't even seen anything resembling shrimp on any of my sails and I've been on 6 since the restart. On my recent Oasis sail I couldn't even find tuna fish salad, let alone lobster. Looks like a scene from the "Twight Zone."🤣

What's going on with Royal Caribbean?
nelblu replied to ksuyen's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I disagree, I've been on 6 sails since the restart and the taste and quality of the food is hit or miss. The steak served in the MDR was veiny and chewy. Same experience on the recent Oasis D+ Lunch with Officers, it was so bad that the only thing on the menu that I enjoyed was the Royal Chocolate cake with Ice Cream. Also had problems with the pork chops as they were dry and basically inedible. The first time on Easter Anthem I was looking forward to the Jerk Caribbean style, but alas it was bad. I could do a better job with Shake & Bake. Same experience on September Allure sail. I gave up on the pork chops. Royal should have changed chefs instead of the menu.🤣 I'm hoping for better food experience on my upcoming Anthem February sail. -
There's has always been talk on sports radio in the Metro area about wanting the Monday after Super Bowl to be considered a holiday. The 12th of February is President's Day. 🏈 Although not celebrated as it was in the past, still many people get off for that day.

The cutbacks are not only at Royal but also affecting Celebrity based on some of the comments by recent Pax. There's a video floating around that shows that the C WJ has only 1/4 of the stations with food at dinner time. Also, they began to charge for room service at $9.95 + 20% grats placed on these orders. We at Royal have experienced this some years ago.

The problem with the video show very few patrons in the WJ. So maybe Celebrity is trying to match the number of available food stations to the number of expected diners.

Cheers with an Officer on Harmony, which sea day?
nelblu replied to Nabalab's topic in Royal Caribbean International
My Western itinerary seems to be slightly different from yours as our 2nd day is a stop at Coco Cay. Unless they changed since this past December, the invite indicated "Lunch with Officers", and yes, they greet you as you enter and followed by a minor thank you speech in the MDR. -
I believe you may be under the old menus as a whole lobster was $29.99 + grats. New menu the lobster tail upcharge is $16.99 + grats.

Cheers with an Officer on Harmony, which sea day?
nelblu replied to Nabalab's topic in Royal Caribbean International
It all depends on the ship and itinerary. For instance, on Oasis December 4 sail it was held on the 3rd day as it was the first at sea day. This was a Western Caribbean itinerary. By the way, not sure if we are talking about the same event. Mine was the D+" Lunch with Officers", although none of the Officers dined with us (still Pandemic cautions). -
Double point promo?
-
Are the themed nights more indicative of the theme or weak as illustrated in the new MDR menus.
-
Could be that menu has not been updated. The upcharge for the lobster is standard on each night's menu as is the filet mignon.
-
What I found odd with this couple was that when Royal introduced a charge for room service, it spread like wildfire on this board. Sounds odd that these experienced travelers were in the dark. Interesting, which I did not know was that Celebrity has a standard 20% gratuity in place.
-
My only comment is that there seems to be no large crowds in the buffet and possibly matching the number of open buffet stations. Also, no mention of the 20% grats on the second lobster.
-
+ 18% grats

Easy solution, one bag per diner. Next stop, limit of one slice of pizza.🤣

Another one bites the dust (Queen).😁

How can I definitely get reservations & table for 2?
nelblu replied to WNCtourist's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I've never had a problem getting a table for 2, but we always choose 5:30 traditional. The e-mail that has been provide is a good source for your request. They advise that you send your request 2 weeks prior to your cruise, but I would send the request much earlier and then follow-up in the 2 weeks timeframe. -
If you are looking for something a bit special but won't break the bank, you could rent day bed(s) for $199. each. They are little casitas by the beach. We rented one in October and chose Breezy Bay at Chill Island. It accommodates up to 4 and comes with bottles of water and towels. The beds are Queen size and quite comfortable. You could choose an end one and the other 2 Paxs set up their lounger near your day bed. Also, you are near the buffet venue and even closer to a fast-food chicken, hamburger etc. Shack which the name escapes me. PS. All loungers and umbrellas are free. Very comfortable and a far cry for the dilapidated ones on Labadee prior to the Pandemic.

My experience is that you go to the cruise planner and when you choose an event the linked Paxs will be listed and simply click on their names. You will see the results when you place the transaction in the cart.
