  1. Thanks. Just cancelled. With the port time changes, our excursion would run into our dinner time. It wasn't a real "must do" for us anyways so no biggie.
  2. Thank you very much. Was able to cancel the excursion and it did mention how the refund would be handled.
  3. Thanks, I will try that. Do you know how long it takes for the funds to go back to the credit card? I have never dealt with a refund from Royal.
  4. I looked at my planner and I couldn't find a place to cancel it. Could you possibly walk me through it?
  5. I was told that we had multiple accounts (3 for me and 2 for my husband). I called and asked that the duplicates be deleted. The representative put the request in motion and told me that we would now be using the oldest/longest passenger number (original assigned number) and the others would go away. She also assured me that all my credits would remain and I had nothing to worry about. Guess what, nothing has changed. Quality Control is definitely not one of Princess' strong points.
  6. Royal has made a shift of ports and times for our upcoming Quantum of the Seas cruise to Alaska. Originally, I had a lengthy tour planned for one of our ports and now we are considering cancelling it. Is there a time limit as to when you can cancel a ship-sponsored tour and get your money back? If it is possible to cancel it, how do I go about doing so? Thanks in advance for your help.
  7. While I am disappointed, I understand. However, I do not consider the amount of time in Juneau to be a full day as they are describing it. Past port times have been much longer in Juneau. It is what it is and I guess we will just make the best of it.
  8. Sorry to hear about your cancellation. If you don't mind me asking, what ship and date of sailing.
  9. Whale watching recommendations: Juneau -- Jayleen's Alaska and in Icy Strait, Glacier Wind Charters.
  10. Thank you for your post. Cancellation of Juneau helicopter trips is not unusual so I am not surprised that this happened. I am sad that you did not get the opportunity to go on your excursion. Wonder why your train in Skagway was cancelled. I know the rock slide is playing havoc for Princess (which I am doing the week prior to the Quantum) but have not seen anything that would affect the Quantum. Between our Discovery Princess and Quantum cruise I feel like a ping pong ball going back and forth in all my port checks.
  11. I don't see any real changes to our 8/22 cruise other than a couple of hour differences in two ports. So for now, I guess we are good to go with what we have. I do realize my comment is subject to change per any information I might receive from Royal.
  12. Thank you for the post, I appreciate it. I just took a look at Jeff Schultz FB page (amazing shots); Jayleen did share that information with me. Boy, she is having a great season. We went out twice with her in June and on our second tour we were lucky and saw whales lunge feeding and Orcas. We were so thrilled as we have never seen Orcas in Juneau. Again, thank you kindly for thinking of me.
  13. We will be on the Quantum to Alaska on August 22nd. How are things going? Any missed ports or substitutions going on right now?
  14. We love whale watching. If we are doing a B2B and don't have Icy Strait as part of our itinerary, we opt for two Juneau whale watching trips (one northbound and one southbound). If our itinerary includes Juneau and Icy Strait, then we would choose to do a trip in each port. As for Seward, that would not be a necessity for us. Whale watching trips vary as far as sightings so we like to get in as much as we can as you never know what you will see from trip to trip. Glacier Wind is an excellent choice for Icy Strait.
  15. Thanks for the information. We are on the Discovery sailing on 8/14 and anxiously awaiting news of our Skagway port visit. Guess we will have to wait until the weekend to see if we get any news. Have a great cruise.
  16. We were dropped off in an area near where the busses were located. It wasn't much of a walk to join the line for embarking passengers. For your particular case, I would suggest calling Seattle Express and ask how they handle passengers with special needs --- they are a great company and I am sure they are used to answering these types of questions.
  17. Thanks. We are on the Discovery Princess with a sailing date of August 14th. Our Skagway port day is supposed to be August 18th. I have been checking our itinerary and no change as of yet --- hope we hear soon.
  18. I just received this offer and was a little confused. I have not sailed with Celebrity for quite a few years. Maybe they are trying to win us back as customers.
  19. Icy Strait is a quaint little place which we happen to enjoy very much --- always look forward to our visits. I realize that it is not everyone's "cup of tea" and people are entitled to their opinion. We enjoy the fact that it is not a commercialized port stop. We like the simplicity and peacefulness that it offers. We have enjoyed the numerous whale watching experiences that we have had with Glacier Wind --- the owners are like family to us and we look forward to seeing them whenever we are there. For anyone who is interested in Icy Strait, you might want to go to YouTube and see some of the videos that past cruisers have filmed about the port. Like I said, Icy Strait might not appeal to everyone -- we personally don't care for Skagway. Fortunately, Alaska has something for everyone. We will be taking two different cruises to Alaska in August; both have Skagway port stops. Since both ships are big ones there is a good chance that we might not be able to get into Skagway. Whatever happens, we will make the best of it and enjoy our time in Alaska.
  20. Thank you for your wonderful review and great pictures, I appreciate you taking the time to share with all of us. We will be on the Quantum to Alaska on August 22nd. We have never been on this ship. Do you happen to remember what deck people disembarked for port stops? We have one independent excursion and want to make sure that we get off ASAP so we don't hold anyone up. The port of call we are most concerned with is Icy Strait Point.
  21. I will be watching this closely as we will be on the Discovery Princess the week of August 14th. While the change is not ideal, safety is of the utmost importance and I can live with that.
  22. If your TA knows about the changes then the TA should be passing that information on to you -- at least that is what mine does when there is a change to my itinerary.
  23. Thank you. Cruisers are anxious people who want to get on the ship ASAP so I am not surprised to hear the scenario. This will be our first time on a ship as large as Quantum. We have an assigned boarding time of 11 AM, I am curious to see what time we will actually step on the ship.
  24. We were on Marina and found it to be very noisy. I am a relatively light sleeper and had lots of problems getting to sleep.
  25. For those that have sailed out of the Royal Caribbean's Seattle cruise terminal this year for an Alaska cruise, are the arrival times being enforced? Last year, when we went, the staff was strictly enforcing the arrival times. Have been looking at some videos for this year and it looks like that might not be the case. Any comments?
