  1. Joining the group. Princess owes us OBC for unused transportation vouchers and a dollar amount that appeared on our final bill that I have no idea what it means or what it is for. Has anyone ever had a dollar amount appear on their bill with a comment that states: Referred to Corporate Finance???
  2. Majestic Princess in June -- had to use tokens. Discovery Princess in August -- free soap and dryer sheets -- no tokens required for wash or dry. If washer and dryers on your floor are in use, you have options -- we went to the floor below us and were able to find availability there -- you are not limited to your floor.
  3. How does rapid test and trace work? I assume they are a proctoring site. Do have a couple of questions I hope someone can help with: Can you use a smart phone (android) for the test? Is there an app that you use to reach a proctor? Do you need to set up an account before hand?
  4. I did see your post before I posted my comments -- thanks for sharing your experience.
  5. Possibly, but each cruise is different and ours might be different from yours --- or it might not. I like to see things for myself.
  6. We were on the Majestic for a 14-day cruise to Alaska in June. Although masks were mandatory in places (signs posted and per announcements by staff), cruisers choose to do what they wanted and we didn't see any enforcement of the rule. During our cruise, buffet food was served by the staff. However, we did see a couple of people grabbing at food when no one was around. Just stating the facts --- no judgement. We will be on the Discovery on Sunday so we will see what takes place then. The following week we will be on Royal Caribbean's Quantum of the Seas and looking forward to seeing how things are operating on their line.

If interested in the zipline, there is a great video on YouTube with the description: Icy Strait Point Ziprider World's Longest Zipline dated June 8. 2022. Shows you footage from start to finish. Didn't post the link because I didn't know if it is permissible.
  8. Shore excursions, hope you get some clarification. Our Princess port changes were revised so not sure what we will do as we can not get into the listings. As for our Royal Caribbean port changes, that is a real mess. Lucky for us we have been to Alaska before so we can make do some how. Alaska is our "happy place" so we are not going to let a few changes ruin our trips.
  9. JT1962 above just provided clarification -- and you have seconded it. I thought that the article might be talking about "stops" but I wasn't sure --- so much information flying around that my head is spinning at the moment. I am presently trying to monitor two cruises: The Discovery and Quantum. August 14th and August 22nd can't come fast enough --- I need the cruises to relax from all the changes happening.😀
  10. Just looked at our itinerary and nothing has changed ---- yet. Guess I will see what tomorrow brings.
  11. I am a little confused by the last bit of information for the Discovery Princess --- the statement mentions the August 11th sail date for the Discovery, our sail date is August 14th on the Discovery. Something seems off.
  12. We are on the Discovery Princess next week and will be stopping in Skagway on 8/18 according to the schedule --- have not received any correspondence from Princess saying otherwise. Since we are assigned to the RRA dock, I am pretty sure we will be tendering.
  13. We are on Discovery next week and have not heard anything about rerouting to Icy Strait or Sitka.
  14. Funny, that is what my husband said. On another note, just saw a post where the cruise after ours (8/29) is skipping Skagway and will go to Sitka. Wonder why they get to go there and not us. Has anyone received any updated correspondence from RCI? If not, I guess we are still going to Skagway???
  15. Getting really frustrated. Looked at the shore excursion listing and the shore excursions have times when we are not even in port. Personally cancelled one of our excursions because I knew there was no way that RCI could rebook it as it was a long one and not within our port time frame. Our Victoria whale watching tour has disappeared from listing and there is no indication that it has been rebooked or will be rebooked. I am not looking forward to standing in a long line at the shore excursion desk to rebook tours just because RCI can't communicate this information up front to us.--- not a way to start off a cruise.
  16. ??? not sure what you are getting at. We have also flown into San Diego and had no issues.
  17. Thanks. I had to laugh at the 22 year figure --- my first time was 42 years ago. DH used to work in Fairbanks and I went to visit him at the jobsite. Saw the NL and fell in love with Alaska.
  18. We only took one cruise using LAX. Ever since then, we go out of Long Beach.
  19. We will be doing two Alaska cruises: one on the Discovery Princess the week of 8/14 and Royal's Quantum of the Seas the week of 8/22. We know it could be a long shot but we are hoping to see the Northern Lights sometime during our two cruises. Have only seen them once before and that was in Fairbanks during October. Do you remember what city you were in when you saw the NLs?

Second Glacier Wind -- great company.
  21. Have never been on the Crown. We will be taking her 11-day Alaska cruise in July of '23 --- nice Vancouver-Vancouver itinerary. On another note, we live in Sacramento County and would definitely fly into San Diego rather than LAX.
  22. Thanks for the information, I appreciate it. Since we use a TA our news goes from Princess to our TA who in turns sends it to us. Now, I can put that question to rest.
  23. We just got our medallions for our 8/14 cruise. I received notification that they were on there way and a link to track the shipping. The medallions were stuck in Carson, CA for about 6 days. I called Princess and inquired about the delay and was told that the medallions are sometimes held and later released for final shipping. The arrival time Princess gave me was anywhere from 3-10 days before my sail date.
  24. Sorry your excursion was not what you had hoped for. Unfortunately, whales have a mind of their own and we never know what we are going to get when we go out --- it really is the luck of the draw. We did two whale watching trips in Juneau a couple of months ago. The first week we saw whales but nothing really out of the ordinary. On our second week, we saw whales and some of the activity in my above pictures. We were supposed to go to ISP on the 24th but Royal just cancelled us so its a no go for us with Glacier Wind. We are really bummed.
