  1. Hopefully your weather will improve. We did the 14-day Alaska itinerary on the Majestic a few weeks ago. Weather report from the map in our cabin always indicated rain. Guess what, only had one misty day. Have a wonderful time.
  2. So, same old routine. Unless told to take bags directly to scanner you can still just use the porter and be done with it.
  3. Dropping off luggage at scanning machines? Is this something new, have never had to do this when taking various other cruises. How did you find out about the scanning machines? We will be embarking on the Discovery on August 14th. Thanks.
  4. We have the same problem at this end. Had to re-enter DH's information. Also, I noticed that DH had a $50 OBC Military credit that he earned in 2015???? The "use by date" is 2025. Really??? We have cruised with Princess numerous times and this 2015 Military credit has never appeared. Guess I will have to bite the bullet and call Princess. Ugh!!!!!!!
  5. Here are a couple more pictures. The day we went, Hubbard was calving like we have never seen it before. I didn't know where to point the camera as it was calving all over the place.
  6. As I mentioned in a previous post, this was our 3rd attempt at the ship-sponsored Hubbard Glacier excursion. Did we feel it was worth it -- yup!!!!!!!!!! I am attempting to post some of our calving pictures -- fingers crossed it all works out.
  7. ccqueenanne: Interesting comment about your pizzas. When we were on the Majestic we had the pizza twice from Alfredos. Embarkation day the pizza was great. On another day, the pizza tasted under baked and the sauce was on the runny side.
  8. azbirdmom -- Love your towel animals. We had an Eskimo, mouse, bird and dog. Our room steward was so sweet. Besides the towel animals, he would always refresh our room in the evening even when we said it wasn't necessary. We know the stewards are very busy so we only asked for a morning refresh. We appreciated his thoughtfulness very much.
  9. We considered ourselves VERY lucky as our cabin steward on the Majestic last month was kind enough to make towel animals for us on 4 nights --- never asked for them --- just found them in our cabin 4 times during our 14-day cruise.
  10. Thank you all for the responses, they are very helpful and much appreciated.
  11. My husband did a proctored Binex Now Covid test today. As I listened to the proctor, I could barely understand what the person was saying. I was wondering if anyone has ever used a bluetooth device so they could clearly hear the person at the other end? My husband said he had the phone volume up but the accent made it a little difficult for me to understand the instructions that were being given.
  12. Just a heads up for those wanting to use the Princess shuttle, make reservations ASAP as I think they operated with limited capacity. When our TA made our reservations we were fine. However, I did hear stories of some people having trouble securing reservations with Princess.
  13. That would have been nice but it didn't happen for us. The passengers in the bus ahead of us had to also exit the bus and go through the checkpoints. In fact, at the security checkpoint one lady had to remove the tomato from her sandwich because she was advised that tomatoes could not be brought across the border.
  14. We had to claim our luggage in the terminal like usual and then we took it to the bus and handed it over to the bus driver (or someone who was loading the bus). Our bus contained Princess as well as Holland America passengers.
  15. We just did this last week and we will NEVER do it again. It was a VERY long trip and LOTS of construction traffic getting into Seattle like MudderBear said. Our bus driver told us we were lucky as all we had to do was get off the bus, go through border patrol, security screening and then back onto the bus. It could have been worse had we been instructed to offload our luggage. If there had been long haul buses we could have potentially been stuck at the border much longer as they would take priority over us. Our bus bathroom was not working --- the bus driver was kind enough to make a couple of rest stops after we left the border for those passengers that needed the bathroom. It took us about 5 hours and then a little more for offloading our luggage. Fortunately, we didn't have to worry about catching a flight as we had made plans to overnight in Seattle and then catch an early flight out the next morning.
  16. PhotoGal07 Thank you for taking the time to post your beautiful journey, I appreciate it. If you don't mind, would you also post the link on the Alaska board. I know there are a lot of Alaska cruisers who would love to read about your trip. Thanks.
  17. We just returned from a 14-day Voyages of the Glacier cruise out of Vancouver with Princess. We have cruised to Alaska many times. Without a doubt this particular cruise gave us the most memorable time we have ever had: whales, lunge feeding, orcas, otters, eagles, bears and sea lions were spotted -- LOTS of glacier calving at multiple glaciers, Hubbard small boat excursion was outstanding and we had nice weather. The ArriveCAN gave me a lot of anxious moments especially since I had to do two of them but the good people on the Canadian board were very patient with me and answered all my questions. Processing lines were a little long in spots due to shortage of staff but nothing that I haven't seen in past years. Once you are on the ship you will forget about all the pre-cruise stress. Hope you have a fabulous time on your cruise.
  18. We used Princess shuttle in Seattle once and thought to ourselves there must be a better way to get to the port. After doing a little research, we found Seattle Express. We will be using them for the Discovery Princess and the Quantum of the Seas cruise in August. Requested hotel pick up to pier for both trips. Great shuttle and customer service.
  19. Is there an Elite Lounge on the Discovery Princess? If so, where is it located?
  20. Glacier Wind is the best, have gone out with them multiple times. We will be taking the excursion in August -- can't wait!
  21. Speaking of next year, I have a question for you assuming ArriveCAN will still be used. We will be taking an unusual itinerary for our Alaska cruise out of and returning to Vancouver. We will fly into Vancouver so I know I will have to do an ArriveCAN for our flight. Next, we will board the ship but not too sure how to handle our next ArriveCAN. Our ship boards in Vancouver, has a port visit in Victoria and then returns back to Vancouver. So, would I only fill out one ArriveCAN for our entire cruise or would it be two for our cruise (one showing the Victoria arrival date and then one showing the date we return back into the Vancouver.) I know it is hard to predict the future but just when I thought I had things figured out, I am now stumped again on the ArriveCAN requirements for this new itinerary.
  22. We just got off the Majestic and we had to use coins. In fact, a lot of the coin dispensing machines were out of order and people had to call for service or go to guest services for coins --- we just went to other floors until we found the coins. We brought our own soap so only had to buy coins for washer and dryer usage.
