  1. Thanks. Have fun on the Legend. I’m overly cautious, probably to a fault, even more-so nowadays. We just steered clear of very crowded areas.
  2. Thank you. Have a great time on Legend. Good news; ordered new scooter and it was delivered today. Geez, guess it’s time to look at another cruise.🙂
  3. We recently returned from our September 17 Legend 8 Day Eastern Caribbean cruise. However, due to Hurricane Fiona we were rerouted from HMC, Grand Turk and Amber Cove Dominican Republic to HMC, Nassau and Bimini keeping everyone safe. The change brought us perfect weather with one exception, a little bit of rolling seas one day, which didn’t really bother me or DH. A little background…We’ve been cruising since the late 80’s, and for the past 10 yrs. on CCL and RCCL. All of our cruises have been enjoyable. That being said, we decided to book the Carnival Legend way back in early 2021 for a short cruise in May 2022 to Bermuda. We canceled that one and switched it to the 17 September cruise. We were on Legend in the nineties, but when she took the place of the Pride, and we love leaving from Baltimore, we chose the Legend again. I miss the Pride. This cruise was our 26th, so all we wanted to do was relax, which we did. I have mobility issues MS related, so I bring my travel scooter. We’ve always booked AFT, Main Deck, standard balcony on Pride and did so on this trip. Closer to MDR, and elevators are no problem at all. We are only 1 1/2 hrs. From Baltimore, so this trip we drove to pier the same day. Ordinarily we would go a day ahead and do a Park and Cruise pkg. the night before, as we always did Pride in Feb. and weather can be iffy. Embarkation was great. Our boarding was 1:00-1:30. We arrived about 12:30 and we were through check-in and on ship about 1:00 (no line). Okay, no issues with our cabin. Our cabin steward (Jani) was terrific. We requested once a day service after 11 or noon. He would always ask when he saw us before dinner if we needed anything else. Our waitstaff in MDR (late seating) we’re great. Now, onto food. The food was just okay; I mean, we enjoyed our meals, but they need to change the menu or give more choices. I suppose there are still supply issues, but I felt like menu was repetitious. The buffet was another area that for us, was just okay. Room service was great. DH would call, and within 15-20 min. It was delivered. It was just coffee, cereal, yogurt sort of continental breakfast. If we wanted something late night it was usually pizza (yum) or a sandwich and DH ran up to Lido for those. We didn’t do the Steakhouse, but we did Bonsai Sushi which was very good. Of course we had Guy’s burgers a couple times and they were good. Bacon we only saw twice but we weren’t in buffet every day. Can’t speak on excursions as we didn’t take any. Scooter was problematic from day 2 through the remainder of cruise. Tried to see the comedian, but scooter wouldn’t go up the ramp. That was a big pain in the neck. Violin players and duo in Alchemy and Atrium were real good. Like I said we went to relax, and as it turned out, because of scooter, we were limited. We spent a little time in Casino, but it was pretty busy every night. We had “drinks on us” in the casino and used that a couple of times, but my favorite was the chocolate martini(s) in Alchemy. All in all the cruise was pretty much what we thought it would be. We don’t go with high expectations so we’re not disappointed. We’re easy going. I will say although it was nice to be on the Legend again, smaller vessel, easy to get around…it wasn’t the Pride which is probably my favorite. Forgot to mention, crew were masked. We brought along masks, but we didn’t need them because we really weren’t around crowds for an extended period. We came home healthy. If you have any questions, feel free to ask and I’ll try to answer.
  4. Tips from anybody who has used their mobility travel scooter on the Anthem for the following: We will be AFT on Deck 9. I always use my scooter on cruises, so I know the rules re storing scooter, driving safety, notify cruise line, etc., but the only RCCL cruise where I used scooter was on Grandeur and I had no issues at all. Next year however, we will be aboard the Anthem. 1. At Embarking, do I need to use gangplank, or can I board in another area? Grandeur had a lower area to board. 2. I don’t mind waiting for elevators, but was it difficult on Anthem? 3. I usually check in with maitre’d at boarding and ask for table near entrance of MDR as I don’t want to be in the way; are they pretty accommodating? Bottom Line-How was your experience with your scooter on the Anthem? This is a first for me on a larger vessel. Thanks in advance. Happy sailing!! We will board at Cape Liberty.
  5. Two weeks ago on Legend we received our $25 cash at casino window.
  6. Help please…We are seasoned cruisers, but older seasoned cruisers. We have cruised with CCL, NCL, Celebrity, RCCL and Cunard, but none of the larger ships. DH and I just came off a CCL cruise 2 weeks ago. In 2023 I will be doing a “sisters” cruise on the Anthem. For the life of me, I can’t figure out the MDR Dining. When we booked we chose traditional at 8 or 8:30 whatever it is. I know we have 3 or 4 venues to choose from, but do we just show up at our assigned time at say, Chic, or do we have to choose the venue before we get there and then make a reservation after boarding ? If we choose Chic, can we choose it for the entire cruise? We will probably also try the paying restaurants one or 2 nights during the week. Is it best to reserve them beforehand or when we are on the ship. Any info is appreciated. Thanks from an “Old School cruiser”
  7. I’ve been using my scooter on cruises for a while. I’m never in much of a hurry for the elevator, but we try to wait until a few minutes before dinner for the elevator and it usually works out. Also, DH and I are not rushing for the elevator. If there are a lot of people waiting, we just say we’ll wait for the next one. I haven’t had any problems and we usually book AFT cabins. Elevators aren’t as busy as midship.
  8. The standard stateroom entry doorway is at least 23” according to RCCL Website. I need to use my scooter on our cruise on the Anthem in 2023 and I booked a standard balcony cabin. I don’t need an accessible cabin either. Here’s a little tip…I used my scooter on a CCL cruise 2 weeks ago. We had a standard balcony cabin. On all of our cruises I would drive the scooter into the cabin. This time I disengaged the scooter to free mode, stepped off and DH steered it into the cabin. It was easier than having him direct me left and right a few times and drive into cabin. I also remove my armrests when taking it on a cruise. If your sister is able to step off outside of the cabin, try entering that way.
  9. 2 weeks ago, SIL couldn’t go at last minute and was a no show. Booking was under his name, so when daughter checked in online, she had to check-in both of them in order to print luggage tags. Didn’t have Cheers. Don’t think cruise fare was adjusted. She kept same cabin and kept half of the OBC.
  10. I have 1 point to go to get to next level and will cruise in 2023. On the 2023 cruise will I move into next level automatically? Thank you.
  11. Love reading your reviews!! I do have a question re: parking. We will board Legend tomorrow. While we have left from Baltimore on the Pride many times, tomorrow will be the first time we drive “day of” and park on the lot. We usually come day before and do a Park & Cruise package at hotel. Will there be room enough for all to park? I never paid much attention to the parking lot on previous cruises. Thank you. Enjoy your cruise.
  12. My mistake, I should have said a court date for a divorce hearing. Not jury duty, which I suppose is different.
  13. Our friends were booked on a cruise in the next few weeks. One of the two has to cancel due to jury duty. Is it better to be a “no show” or just call PVP and cancel . If he is a no show, can she keep their balcony cabin? What is best solution? Thank you.
  14. My first experience on the open sea was on a transatlantic voyage from Southampton to Philadelphia, Pa back in, I think 1982 on the QE2. It was commemorating something. Because we lived in the Phila. area my DH suggested we give it a try. He cruised before. I had not. We’ll, after 5 days on the open sea, I said I would never set foot aboard any ship or ocean liner again. Long story short, in 2 weeks we will do my 27th cruise. This next cruise will be our 10th Carnival cruise. We have sailed with Cunard, Celebrity, RCCL, and Norwegian. Before we cruised on Carnival, we cruised mostly on Celebrity, but my SIL, insisted we try Carnival Legend. We were very skeptical, because we heard the usual stories. We’ll, to our surprise we enjoyed the cruise. There were no disturbances, no folks staggering drunk all over the ship, no loud, crazy parties, etc. For us, cruising now is a far cry from our QE2, Celebrity and our other cruises back in the day. We are retired, prefer the smaller ships now. We feel that cruising is geared more toward families and as such, ships are huge, with more family oriented activities and it’s fit as many people on the ship as you can. For us, Carnival gets us where we want to go at a great price. Our last cruise was RCCL Grandeur out of Baltimore pre Covid, and before that in 2019 on Carnival Pride. To tell you the truth, both cruises to us were very similar. I felt one was not as lively as the other, the food was good on both. For now we will try any of the mainstream lines…we pretty much find fun on all. Wish me luck on my next “sisters” cruise (no husbands allowed) on the huge RCCL Anthem in 2023, which will be interesting (my 1st mega ship), especially during Spring Break.
  15. We’ll, that’s encouraging. So looking forward to our cruise in a few weeks. I’m surely stressed out more now than ever. This cruise was rebooked twice and we have another scheduled in Dec. 2022. The Mucinex and Tylenol are good to go. Our toiletry bag looks like a portable pharmacy. I’m hopeful that by spending most time on balcony and other times masked indoors, along with being vaxxed, and boosted twice, will help a little……fingers crossed.
  16. BRAVO Carnival!!! Hopefully it will be enforced.
  17. We have cruised from Baltimore 7 times. We are from Pa., and always sailed from Baltimore in February. Because of how weather can be in Feb., we chose to drive to Baltimore the day before. We used Best Western on O’Donnell with their Park and Cruise package. We also weren’t planning to leave hotel, just sleep and cruise the next day. The shuttle to the port was great. Our car was never damaged and one year there was a snowstorm while we were away, and the hotel had dug out for us. Never any problems. Would we stay there for a vacation, probably not, but for one night it was fine plus we got a bite to eat in their restaurant the morning of the cruise.
  18. I had hoped the cruise lines wanted to keep guests safe, and still lighten up a bit on the protocols, but I was wrong. As usual, Carnival much like the other mainstream cruise lines, cares about one thing, money. Of course it’s understandable, after all the losses they had during the pandemic. Surely they can’t allow one cruise line to outdo the other, no, that wouldn’t work. After all the pandemic is all but a memory, right???? We are set to sail in a few weeks. Sadly, I’ll never know if the guest next to me has a fake vaccination card, or better yet, isn’t vaccinated at all, but took a home test or his/her 4 year old took it with negative results…yay. So happy I packed the N95’s. I suppose our next cruise scheduled for December 2022 will most likely be canceled as I suspect outbreaks will ramp up by early October and cruising will come to another abrupt halt. It was a good ride while it lasted.
