  1. Apparently some people do not understand jokes. OK, more seriously: I have difficulties understanding how you tip a person who just handled you their business card. Moreover, when a person in a similar position on another line organized a taxi for us to disembark early (last pot of call) and I attempted to tip that person, she outright refused and looked at me as if I tried to demean her. Now, that was eleven years ago, before the massive change of the tipping culture in the US, but still... There is a better way to show your appreciation. Mention that this person has provided an outstanding service on the post cruise survey. In this way, the concierge/suite experience manager would have a better chance for a promotion. What do you think is more valuable, a ~20% increase in their salary or a meager $20?
  2. So why don't we tip the Captain, for he is getting to the port on time?
  3. The main reason is the trouble in communications while using a guide for a group
  4. Ship Enchanted Class Royal Deck Dolphin (9) Cabin # 726 Category S3 Port/Starboard/Bow/Stern Port/Aft corner Connects With Cabin # n/a Accessible no Quiet yes Balcony Size extreme View 270° aft-port Privacy Issues no Wind no Soot no Problems Strong vibrations and shaking while on move Comments We have often sailed in aft cabins on other lines (RCCL, Celebrity, Azamara), and never experienced that sort of problems. The entire cabin was badly vibrating - you could observe the dishware shaking and jumping on the shelves. Impossible to sleep at night.
  5. Nice and timely review! Did you try the International Cafe, or the Irish pub? Where was your first meal on the ship at embarkation, did you like it? Did your wife enjoy the Enclave?
  6. I noticed that many items on Lunch Menu include pork, for example Potato Soup (bacon), Cobb Salad (bacon), Monte Christo (ham), Signature Burger (bacon jam). I wonder if there is a way to get those items with no pork addition. If you have any experience with that, please share.
  7. In Europe, the final payment is 30 days before cruise
  8. FWIW, I had a booking on Brilliant Lady out of San Juan this March, which was cancelled in ~October 2023. The cancellation was not handled well, to put it mildly. Also, my impression is that you must reserve all the restaurants and shows prior to cruise (unless you are in a suite), or make the reservations while you are in the waiting area for embarkation (taking advantage of ship's internet). Otherwise, you would have a trouble finding a reservation slot onboard. But then again those are the things I read about, not my own experience.
  9. Can anybody please clarify how you communicate the dietary restrictions for the 360 experience? Thanks
  10. Does anyone know if a new show is coming on Oasis after the drydock, or Cats will remain for another four years?
  11. Thank you so much @RRFPresident for your most comprehensive response.
  12. Thank you for your excellent blog type review! I am tempted to book an EV on either Beyond or Ascent, but have a couple of concerns and would appreciate your advice. 1) On these newer ships, they put a Retreat sundeck on Deck 17, and I can see some loungers right above the villas. Do you think the folks on the 17th could look down at your balcony? At your plunge pool? 2) Do you think all six EVs are equally private? 3) If you could select, which particular EV would you choose and why? Same question if your SO would need to use the ship elevators to move between the villa's floors. Thank you in advance.
  13. Do they keep tables in all the specialty restaurants, or only in Crown Grill on the embarkation day?
  14. I am glad Pepper is still in business - we had a tour with him back in 2013
  15. I just found a gangway image here: https://cruisinchandler.com/our-cruises/enchanted-princess-ship-tour scroll down to see the gangway So it looks like there are both smooth and shallow-steps options
  16. Thank you very much, so Grand Turk is out of question. With regard to tides, the tides in the Caribbean are no way as large as e.g., in Bay of Fundy - see here for Anigua https://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/noaatidepredictions.html?id=9761115&legacy=1. The range is mere foot or so
  17. I asked a similar question on the Disabled board and on Antigua board, but this one is specific to St Lucia. We will be in Castries on Enchanted Princess and I wonder what the gangway can look like. If it is steep and/or with stairs, would the crew still be able to provide wheelchair assistance? Without manually lifting, just pushing the wheelchair? Thanks for your help.
  18. I asked a similar question on the Disabled board, but perhaps this board has a higher traffic. We will be in Antigua on Enchanted Princess and I wonder what the gangway can look like. If it is steep and/or with stairs, would the crew be able to provide wheelchair assistance? Thanks for your help.
  19. DW and I are planning a trip on Enchanted Princess this Spring with ports of call in Eastern Caribbean - Antigua, Martinique, St. Lucia, Dominica, St. Thomas, and Grand Turk. After our disastrous cruise in Europe on Azamara last summer (steep gangway with stairs in every other port), I would like to make sure the gangways in the Caribbean are more accessible. DW uses a cane and asks for wheelchair assistance if the gangway is somewhat steep. But if the gangway is too steep, it cannot be accessible by a wheelchair. What was your experience in those ports? Please advise. Thanks in advance
  20. Greetings St Lucia experts, My wife and I will be visiting St. Lucia for the first time in March. My wife has a bad back and she cannot climb stairs, though walks OK on a flat surface. She is a good swimmer and enjoys snorkeling. I searched throughout numerous posts here, and it looks like the best snorkeling sites (near the Pitons) are out of reach, as they either require boat travel (no-no with a bad back, and then stairs to get into the boat) or getting over numerous stairs to access the beach from a vehicle. Would you recommend an accessible beach with a reasonable snorkeling and not too many lurking boats/tourists? Perhaps the Pigeon Island? Thanks, voyager
  21. So you buy several flights with award points/miles while they are cheap, wait for schedule change, get what you want and then release back what you don't? Here is the flaw in the plan as I see it: when you release the award flights, they are sold to your competitors by the dynamic pricing, much > miles than you paid...
  22. Certainly, Azamara never offered an additional entry on a different deck to solve the mobility problem. However, whenever such an additional entry is not available/possible, we still have a sloped/often steep gangway. Does Nova;s gangway have stairs? If it does, the only way the crew can help is by lifting the passenger in the wheelchair and carrying them above the gangway. Now imagine typical not-so-strong crew and a 250+lb passenger 😞 So my question is: Is Nova using a flat-surface gangway (along which a wheelchair can be pushed) or a gangway with stairs?
