  1. It was total chaos on the Uber/cab side too. We stood in the taxi line for over an hour before being offered a ride that we split with another couple. They need to separate the Uber and cab lines--the Ubers kept completely blocking the roadway. Cabs were not plentiful, but it was marked. Ubers exit the terminal and to to the left. Cabs cross the roadway to the covered area.
  2. We fly out this evening for our London/TA cruise this evening. It seems like we booked this trip a gazillion years ago, but it was really only June 2020. Originally Alaska 2021 for our 10th anniversary. I *think* I have everything packed (yes, our passports are right next to me and getting ready to go in the backpack) I. Can't. Wait.
  3. I hope it is. Now that I know where to find it, I booked it. We loved it the time we did it before,
  4. We leave soon, too. I have been half-packed for months since I haven't needed cool weather clothes (other than skating) for several months. I'm expecting cooler weather from London through the first half of our TA. I'll be packing for two seasons.
  5. We moved from a standard balcony to a deluxe just by doing a trial booking and calling my TA. No GTY involved. This was within 100 days of sailing.
  6. My machine has an automatic button hole feature. I said a few four-letter words while using it and had to make several trial holes before I figured it out. Then I still had to rip one out. The next project I made was knit and if you think ripping out button holes from woven fabric is painstaking, try it on a knit fabric. 🤬
  7. @mef_57I might just have to look for that pattern the next time I go to the fabric store! I like it. It's pretty and looks simple.
  8. I would suggest a simpler pattern. Fewer seams would make it easier to attempt to match the flowers (if you want to try that). Most patterns have lines so that you can lengthen, so that's not a real issue. Just measure correctly how much length you want to add. And, as explained to me by a couple of sewists, get the pattern that fits your largest measurement (mine is boobs) and grade the others.
  9. It was in the upper 90s last week when I was at Target and got a lightweight jacket. I also felt a little ridiculous trying it on, but it was the perfect lightweight gray jacket for my fall trip. I got it and ironed a butterfly on the back.
  10. Mine aren't that fancy, just Athleta, though one pair is the nicer Moto tight. I am packing as much as I can in my carry on, but will check the extras. If it makes it, great, if not. I can live without what's in that bag.
  11. I hear black leggings can go anywhere. That's what I'm packing in my carryon.
  12. I'm doing my best to get everything in a carry on too, and just put heels and dinner clothes in the checked bag. That way, I'll have clothes to wear, but if the checked bag doesn't make it, I can do everything except formal night. I just checked and our flight isn't cancelled. However, I've been tracking and it has a history of delayed departure, so we'll probably miss our connecting flight. I've already got our TA on it, but like others have said, I don't want to lose our great rate.
  13. I do some research on my own, but use a TA. With today's hold times, she gets to be on terminal hold instead of me. Also, If I have issues while on vacation, I can email her and she can solve (or sit on hold).
  14. Hello my sister from another mister! I'm the same--to the point that my coworkers will look at the clock and say "I'm not talking to you--it's not after 9am yet". It's very much a running joke at my expense. Then, there are the people that think they can turn me into a morning person--I try not to talk to them until after lunch. 😆
  15. It's a McCall's 2149. It's dated 1999 on the envelope.
  16. "If it weren't for bad luck luck, I'd have no luck at all. Gloom, despair, and agony on me. . ." All the news is gloom and doom now.
  17. Well, I finished my husband's shirt. It was my first time trying to match the front pattern. It's *nearly* perfect. As you can tell, he likes it.
  18. We are sticking with Princess. We're only Platinum, so no real perks, but I appreciate and use the laundry rooms and have had relatively few problems. Nothing worthy of "never again." Our last cruise was the Sky in Jan 2020, our next one is the Enchanted this fall (and it's been rescheduled/changed three times since originally booked in June 2020. I. Can't. Wait.
  19. @pattycruisealot21 We got a lot of our information and supplies from Dharma Trading out of Petaluma CA. It's good stuff. I'd do it a couple of weeks out--you're supposed to let it "cure" for about 24 hours before rinsing the dye it. Dharma's dyes last a long time as long as you take care of the fabric, but it's not cheap. Tulip brand that you get at craft stores is cheap and doesn't last long. There are lots of YouTube videos out there to learn from. @purduemom1 Well that would take all the fun out of it. I will help others when we do it in the fall, but that's it. Fun!
  20. It's so much fun and so messy. I don't bother with gloves. I enjoy the few days with dyed hands and fingernails. Hubby lives in tie dye--he's a 60s hippy even though he actually came of age in the 70s. I tried a technique I found on Pinterest. It didn't look like it was going to work while it was curing, but I definitely did a happy dance at the reveal. We're going to do it again in the fall. Several of my coworkers have expressed an interest.
  21. @rsquare Dang, that's a bunch of bookstores on Cecil Court. I'd try Foyles, but it's further than we want to walk. Well, further than my husband would want to walk.
  22. Thanks! We had fun and made a mess. I still have dye in my fingernails and cuticles.
  23. Hotel room keys make great book markers. And the occasional ice scraper.
