Now I really have confused myself :O) Just go PASSED the rocky beach but you have to go up by the restaurant & then over.a slight hill. You cannot see this area from the rocky beach area where the cabanas are but it is only a few minutes walk.

I stand CORRECTED. The beach area I am talking about is to the RIGHT of the restaurant, not the left ! I am unaware of a service kitchen.

Although I would have preferred the Royal...the Crown had the itinerary we wanted so we will be sailing on it in May !

We were there last year. It is not a service kitchen but a small restaurant. It has plenty of outdoor seating. Not many tables inside but we were able to get one. It was very hot outside. The YC shuttle back to the ship stops right there.

Once again for the nonbelievers...... The YC beach is indeed VERY rocky... BUT if you go to the YC restaurant & then to the left for a very short distance & then down, You are on a beautiful sandy beach. Indeed it is YC because there is a butler there to take care of you & free mats & umbrellas. We have been there ! But, there are people that still dispute this....fine with me because it is not crowded ! I think this area was created a few years ago by dredging up tons of sand. I guess it was possible there but not in the main YC beach areas because they had already put the cabanas there & it might be a bit too rocky to smooth out.

Is your cruise about 30 days out ? I have heard that is when most people are notified .

Live right down the coast from San Francisco. I am OLD....this has been the coldest, wettest winter EVER with no end in sight. Have a sub pump under our house going almost constantly. We are going on a cruise next week out of San Diego. Booked for 2 days in advance but now it appears the weather down there is also deary.

We currently have a Vista suite & just bid on a Penthouse, then our suite would become available. A penthouse person might bid on an Owners suite....

Does not make much sense to me... Then EVERYONE would get a credit...say $20. So the pay restaurants would just up their price $20.

Thank you for this post. We sail in 2 weeks. I am getting used to seeing cruise lines charging extra for lobster but it would never have occurred to me that there would be an extra charge for soup & salad. I do NOT agree with that... I am OLD & remember back in the old days when there was no such thing as a pay restaurant. You were assigned to a large table with the same people for the whole cruise. Leisurely 6 course meal with pleasant conversation. Your waiter was the same each night so he knew what drink you wanted , etc....them were the days....

I would not mind getting one BUT I will say not to put ANYTHING on the outside of the glass. I have no idea how you can carry the glass otherwise.

Am VERY interested. We had a fabulous cruise on the Royal a few months ago. We have a 10 day Crown in May. When I booked, I did not realize this ship is much smaller & not as many amenities so a bit worried. What category cabin do you have ? We had a suite on the Royal & really enjoyed the suite lounge, I heard there is not one on the Crown (?) Also the buffet was great & they had the pastry shop located within it.. Crown's is supposed to be very small. Small casino, etc. To late now as final payment has been made. I am sure we will have a good time as I really do not think there is anything like a really bad cruise. ...Just looking to think about the positive unknowns we will encounter. Thank you for you time !

From reading this thread...it seems that a lot of passengers that have the premium plus, got it for the other things & will not be getting the desserts !

When we took our last cruise, I bid for an upgrade to a penthouse & got it. I was notified by email that the bid was accepted & then got a chance to confirm I wanted it. I just bid for a penthouse on our upcoming cruise in May. The wording was very clear. Any bids before 2/24 would be subject to your acceptance. Any bids AFTER that date are final & your credit card is charged immediately. You cannot cancel or change your mind. SO...be very careful with your bids !

My favorite part of the YC is the private deck. Some say lack of shade but it is quite an expansive area. I have always found a comfortable place. Small private pool, several large hot tubs. The buffet is the very best. We go there every morning for breakfast. They have the regular buffet but you can also order from your table. Pancakes, omelets, egg benedict, etc. Of coarse, every drink imaginable. At lunch they have a carving station & will custom make you a burger. Some days the grill small steaks & lamb chops. Even ice cream !

I have ALWAYS tipped for room service. It is a personal choice to share your money or not :O)

Just got offer currently have a Vista Suite on 10 day cruise on the Crown Offers Owners suite $910 pp Aft Penthouse $710. pp Penthouse $660. pp Premium Suite $260. pp

Finally found a youtube on the Premium suite. It is upfront. Although I like the cabin better, the bathroom totally rules it out. MUCH smaller than any of the other suites with a tub you have to step in to use the shower.

Not unhappy with current cabin but curiosity about the Premium suite. Obviously some kind of upgrade very little money but VERY hesitant to make the trade since I cannot find any info on that category ! Also curious about what people think about the offers .
