Our 2 DS had dogs that were trained to ring a bell beside the door when they wanted out. Worked great, because if you couldn't see them, you could hear them. They were bear bells mounted on a hook.

@ger_77Totally agree with the cherry juice suggestion.  DH did drink this, but now takes a cherry supplement every day.  Hasn't had a flare up in years. The supplement is easier to travel with.  It can be found in health food stores.  Brand name of Cherry Rich,  Super Strength Cherry Concentrate  36:1, or NOW brand.

I have an Instant Pot brand air fryer.  It has been fine.  DD and DIL both have Ninja brands. DT201C  10 in 1.  DD can cook a full dinner for 4 in it.  Meat, potatoes and a vegie. Ninja Foodie 8 in 1 is similar but only has 1 tray.

DS is visiting Saskatoon, looking after her DD's cat and dog while she is at bicycle races in Glasgow. They really enjoy their visits to your city.

@dfish So glad to hear there was no blockage.  This happened to my daughter in 2020, and the drain was completely blocked with tree roots.  Thank goodness her insurance broker had them put on extra coverage that covered this.  $15,000.  The good part of this......it was during the beginning of the pandemic when everyone was locked down, and they had to move in with us.  And I got to hold her 2 little boys!

The smoke here is terrible.  Kids aren’t allowed out for recess and outdoor activities such as soccer and baseball are cancelled.  N95 masks are recommended if you have to be out.

FYI.  We had a beverage card on our last cruise, Volendam,   and when we used the card we could not use our Mariner discount .

Just a caution about air fryers. Yesterday afternoon we watched as 3 fire trucks with 15 firefighters, fire rescue, paramedics and 3 police vehicles raced down the street. 

An 11 year old boy,  coming home from school, smelled smoke in the kitchen.  He quickly shut the door and ran to a neighbor's to call 911. 

Thankfully the fire was quickly extinguished,  limiting the damage to one side of a duplex. It could have been so much worse.

The fire department suspects the fire was started thru the air fryer and recommends that air fryers always be unplugged after use.

We just did the GSA.and did not have the Yellow Fever Shot. On the advice of our doctor.  The CDC does not recommend it for those over 60. We had a letter from our doctor stating he did not recommend it with the exact date of the cruise.  We did have to go to a separate  desk at check in where they did check the letter. We were told to carry the letter with us while in Brazil. We were never asked for it. We did not do any excursions in to the jungle.  We also did not see mosquitoes.  Cruising the Amazon is an amazing adventure.  Enjoy.

We used Do Brazil.Right for tours in Brazil.

On their website they had a list of tours specifically  fot the Volendam. 

We only tried to use the beverage card once at Happy Hour. We were told it did not quality for the discount.

Just off the Volendam. We're given a beverage card as a gift. Could not use it for  the discounted Happy Hour drinks. Did not get our 4 star discount if used at the Explorers Cafe.

Thanks everyone.  My husband can no longer help with the bags so it's our first time to use a porter. Just wanted a heads up on help getting out of the terminal. 

Will need to use a porter in Ft. Lauderdale to help us out with our luggage .  Do they have a set fee or do you tip them?  If a tip, how much.  Thanks.

@Sharon in AZNot the Nancy you asked, but I am on this cruise too. the lunch was delicious.  Quite spicy but good. The banana fritters and ice cream helped tame the heat. Nancy

@smitty34877will be thinking of you tomorrow.  DH had this surgery a few years ago, and it made such a huge difference.  So glad you could get it scheduled so quickly.

A couple of questions for you. Can you let me know if magnets work for the Volendam walls. Several of us would like to know, and we are getting conflicting reports.  Is there a liquid soap dispenser beside the sink?   Thanks.
