Today will be spent trying to get organized. Still have tables full of china from my kitchen redo. I would have everything back, but if I put it away it will stay here - so it is out while I sort. And sort. And sort. My sister and I have different ways of dealing with family "heirlooms". I take a picture, send it to family and ask who wants it. If no one... it usually is donated. My sister's approach? Mail it to me. No wonder I have so much stuff.

    @durangoscots

Oh my!  Read this to DH and he asked if I wrote it.

Currently doing major renos to the bedrooms, and sorting.  And sending those pictures to my kids. And then it is off to the thrift store.

And my sister......when she moved from a house to an apartment, I got a huge box filled with things I told her I DID NOT WANT.  LOL

  2. Thank you for your comparison. Always good to hear about other lines.

I have a question on a different topic for you.  I read somewhere that you did not have a yellow fever vaccine for a South American cruise.  Just checking to see if you had  any trouble with HAL when you didn't have the shot. Did you have a letter from your doctor?

We are booked on the Grand South America cruise in January, and being in our 60's and 70's, we would rather not have the vaccine.

    Thanks.

  3. I have no idea where any pictures are, (I admire all of you who are so organized)  and wouldn't know how to post them anyway. Just wanted to say we spent a week in Dubai and a week in Abu Dhabi. Dubai was amazing to see, but we enjoyed Abu Dhabi more.  It was easy to get around.  The Big Bus has a good tour. We went to the Emirates Palace and walked along the beautiful waterfront. The Grand Mosque is beautiful, and should be seen. The old fort was undergoing renovations so we didn't get to tour it.  We did a Dune Bashing tour in the desert, with dinner and entertainment after. The week went by much too fast. I was surprised to realize that the two emirates are so close together.  You really can't tell when you drive out of one, and in to the other.  And, for the Canadians. there were several Tim Hortons!

May I request prayers for my niece? She got married two weeks ago, went back to work last Monday, and Friday morning she couldn't walk. She's been in the hospital since then and they are doing multiple scans and tests to figure out what happened. Very scary! Her name is Jackie. I know you'll surround her with prayers - thank you!

How scary! Sending positive thoughts and prayers.

  5. @RowsbyMy condolences to you and your family.  May your memories keep your husband close in your heart.

@1ANGELCATPrayers for the Lebanon officers.  Very sad.  My DS is a police officer, and the officer in charge of the Emergency Response Team.  Domestic calls scare me much more than ERT calls!

My DMIL tatted.  I am fortunate to have a few of her lovely pieces.

This is going to sound awful, but I am kind of grateful there is a storm coming tomorrow and will have a valid excuse not to go to the hospital.  I really need a break to regroup.  DH has been deteriorating IMO and blasting me for things I have done (when I’m not there).  I’m hoping he is improved today.  If people ask me how he’s doing now, I just say “don’t ask”.  There is a box of Kleenex in the car for the way home when needed.  It will soon have to be replaced.  So, I probably won’t be saying much unless things improve.  I’ll just do some memes to keep in contact.

I am so sorry to hear this.  Please take care of yourself, and know that we are all here for you. Sending hugs.

  7. I have traveled solo and enjoyed being seated with others at the anytime dining.  You can ask to be at a table for 'no more than 6' etc.

No need to take a stapler for the luggage tags.  Print out the tags, fold them as instructed, using packing tape if you want to make them a little sturdier, just cover the tag with the tape. Fold it in half and use a hole punch to make holes at each end, and then use a zip tie to attach it to your luggage.  After you get to San Diego. Then you can just cut it off later.  Enjoy your cruise.

  8. @aliaschiefHappy Birthday! Enjoy your cruise.  Friends rave about Azamara.

@Sea ViewerOh goodness.  So glad DH is okay.

@Cruising-alongSorry to hear about Parkour. Always hard to lose a pet.

For those in the warmer, sunny parts of Ontario.....it is snowing here.  Send sun!

Peanut butter is popular in this house, and now that DGS has been declared NOT allergic, we can enjoy it guilt free.  And the birds are happy to have peanuts again.

We were very lucky to attend Mardi Gras in New Orleans in 2007, invited by a friend who was the King of his Krewe. A week before, we went to the King's Party, at the Hotel Monteleone, the oldest hotel in the French Quarter.  Long dresses and tuxedos, with masks required. Much prettier than the masks we wear today.  We viewed his Krewe parade from Gallier Hall.  And attended the ball that evening, again long dresses and tuxedos.  We were surprised when dinner wasn't served until 11 pm. Guests were required to bring their own appetizers and alcohol, and it was odd to see the tuxedoed men hauling coolers in to the ballroom. It was an amazing experience.

I purchased a sterling silver cross necklace at the beautiful Rock Church there.  It's a treasured keepsake that I wear quite often.

I have a cross from there too.  I often buy a pendant as a souvenir. They are small, and not usually expensive and bring back good memories when I change them.

@kazuHope the knee is feeling better.  Love the picture of Marley.  Our new neighbours have a 'Marley'. Her name is Lola and she is very sweet.

We have kept an epi pen handy for DGS who had a peanut allergy.  And he was just tested again, and has outgrown it.  We are all relieved.

    Prayers for all those suffering.
