  1. First of all, thank you for your concern over my 'amnesia' issue last week. I have been fine, and hopefully will stay that way.

@lynanken and @dfishIt was reassuring to hear of someone else that this has happened to.  And to hear it never happened again.

@dfishToday's recipe sounds great.  We love soup. I will have to get all the ingredients  and try it.

@JazzyVYour bread looked delicious You do a lot of baking. My 12 year old DGS has the sourdough starter and makes great bread, garlic knots and pizza crust.  Wish he lived closer so we could enjoy it.

@smitty34877Camilla is so cute.  She is getting so big. Thinking positive thought for Tana. She is very lucky to have you and your family in her life.

It has been a busy week here, and I am finally caught up on The Daily. The 2 1/2 yr old DGS was here a lot this week, including a sleepover one night.  He does keep us busy, but he's great at night.  Went to bed before 8 with out a peep, and didn't wake up until 8. Won't see him this week, as his Dad has tested positive for Covid. DD is a personal trainer, so she can't work, again.  And her washing machine died on her, so you know who is doing all her laundry.  LOL

Prayers for all those suffering from medical issues.

@kazuYou and Jose, and Marley, remain in my thought and prayers.  Positive thoughts for continuing improvement, and please look after yourself.  You need to stay healthy and strong for them. Hugs.

  2. No dog to walk, and our family, too, plays poker.  Mostly I play cards with the grandkids.

Fantasy/imagination is wonderful.  Spent the morning listening to the 2yr old DGS play, using his imagination.

@dfish Dinner looks good. Thank you for the work you do to find the recipes for us.

We visited Victoria in 2016, on the way back from Australia.  A niece picked us up and toured us around before meeting her sister, and a cousin and her DD for dinner.  Great visit in a pretty city.

@irishjimHappy Birthday and hope all your news to today is good.

@StLouisCruisersGlad you are feeling better today.  Prayers for Jennifer.

I had an interesting day yesterday, not that I remember most of it.  I was not making any sense talking to my family and they called an ambulance to take me to Emerg.  I knew who I was, and my address, and those around me, but didn't remember anything recent. No recall of the ambulance or talking to the doctor, tests, etc.  Eventually I realized I was at Emerg.  The diagnosis was Transient Global Amnesia, where you fail to make new memories. Can last up to 24 hours, but thankfully mine was only a few hours. And can happen again, but only happens twice.  I am fine, but it is a strange feeling to have lost those hours.  I had never heard of this.

but I think it highly unfair that one particular skater was allowed to continue to compete.

And yet female ski jumpers with too loose fitting jackets were disqualified!

Can you take the unopened box of wine back?

    @rafinmdEnjoy your cruise.

@grapau27Did you have ice cream at the Mayan Monkey?  Delicious.

@ottahand7We are booked on the Grand SA cruise too.  Antarctica is amazing. Hoping we will get to go, but dealing with some medical issues.  Fingers crossed.

@kazuHope there is better news about Jose today.

Prepping the house as grandchildren are coming for a visit Thursday night through Sunday morning. The two year old is a kleptomaniac and requires full time assigned sentry duty!

A kleptomaniac? LOL  We babysit a 2 yr old DGS at least twice a week.  Like a cyclone has arrived.  We have rearranged the furniture and can block him in the LR, where all the toys are. Have to block him in as he can run faster than we can! I dread the day he gives up his nap. But I love every minute he is here.

what country is this in?   Can you expand description for me please.

Not far from Malaga, Spain. Costa del sol

Very easy to take the subway type train there from Malaga. or the Malaga airport.

It is a beautiful area, with many British tourists, like Grapu27

I know exactly how you feel.  I feel your angst on the developments.  Our son is in Ottawa and sadly in the “zone”.  He can barely leave his apartment 😔

I am sorry to hear that.  My son used to live in the area, and now works in the area, but thankfully is working at home these days. Younger  son, a police officer, is being sent to Ottawa this week.

Fingers crossed that Marley continues to adjust, to get to a time you can both agree on.

  7. @HeartgroveCongratulations on the pending arrival.  Grandkids are wonderful!

@kazuHow did Marley sleep last night?   Hope you don't get too much snow. Stay safe.

Met my husband taking the bus to school, and on the days when my brother had to drive me, I made him pick up DH.  I was 15.  Spent the next 4 years apart while he was away at university. 47 years this year.

The DD of a good friend married last year, and the groom took her name.  His was Black, so nothing weird.  She was attached to her name, and he wasn't, so he changed.

Thank you to all who make this site great.

No tacos tonight, but chicken parm for DDIL's birthday. Her favourite.

  8. Like the quote of the day.

The soup sounds good.  We often have homemade soup for lunch.

@kazuI am very sorry to hear Marley's diagnosis. If prayers and positive thoughts do work, Marley will be with you for a long time yet. He is so lucky to be part of your family.

Today is a good day.  The youngest grandson was diagnosed with a peanut allergy, and has now 'outgrown' it.  Such a relief. We are grateful.

  9. Thanks to RIch and Roy for the Care and Celebration lists. Prays for those who need them.       @dfish the menemen recipe sounds delicious and I will try it. Thanks

@kazuI hope you get your errands done today. Enjoy your visit tomorrow.

@smitty34877Good to hear Tana is improving,  slowly.  It is in the right direction.

I will celebrate Chocolate Day, as I used to make novelty chocolates. At Xmas I would go thru 800-1000 pounds of chocolate.

I used to read in the bath tub.  Nodded off one day, and the borrowed book got a little wet.  But that's okay.  I lent a book to the owner of the wet book, and her dog chewed it.

Thank you to all who posted the beautiful pictures of Bay of Islands.  We spent a wonderful week in Pahia. Did a boat tour and saw the Hole in the Rock. Bus to to Cape Reinga, from where Maori souls depart for home, and drove on 90 Mile Beach. Visited the Treaty House, and took the ferry to Russell.  We were looking forward to stopping there for a day on our cruise around New Zealand.  Due to azipod issues and an extra day in Napier, we missed retuning to Waitangi. Would love to go back to NZ.

In honor of stuffed mushroom day, a few facts about mushrooms I learned in Kennett Square PA.

    ·       Mushrooms are the #1 cash crop in PA.

    ·       One acre of land can produce 1 million pounds of mushrooms annually

    ·       Mushrooms are good for you.  They can help in the fight against cancer; they have anti- aging properties; they can reduce the odds of cognitive decline.

We lived 7 miles south of the PA border, with several mushroom farms nearby. What a smell!  The owners of the house we rented put several truck loads of mushroom soil in the yard in an attempt to grow grass. What did grow.....you could almost see it growing!

Punxatsutawney Phil saw his shadow, even though it was overcast! It's a nice little town that makes a lot of money off this yearly event.

Many years ago we spent a winter week at a timeshare in DuBois.  The highlight of our week was a visit to Punxsutawney to meet Phil and Phyllis. Not the best vacation we've had!

  12. Condolences to all those who have lost loved ones recently, and congratulations  on the arrival of the babies.

I am very glad to hear that Jacquie can now visit Jose, and Tana has been moved and had a visit with her son.

Awesome pictures of the bus removal, Vanessa.

The Grand Voyage to New Zealand and Australia sounds like an amazing cruise.

I have been lurking and dealing with an abscessed tooth recently.  After a course of antibiotics and some dental work, I am relieved to feel better.

@rafinmdI enjoyed your pictures of Osaka today.  My grand nephew is a member of the Hyogo Symphony (between Osaka and Kyoto) and they played a Xmas concert at the Osaka Castle.  The final piece is always the last movement of Beethoven's 9th Symphony, accompanied by a 10,000 person choir.  Unfortunately this year they could not be there in person, and my nephew is looking forward to having them there in person next year.

I share my birthday with John Hancock and intend to celebrate by NOT cooking today. We are getting restaurant takeout(as opposed to diner takeout) for dinner and I very much look forward to it. DD is baking a cake so I will be a princess for the day.

Happy Birthday! Enjoy your princess day! You definitely deserve it.

  14. @kazuSo glad to hear Marley is doing better.   But that ice.......please be careful!

We had over 40 cm of snow yesterday.  Schools and daycares were all closed. Our snow service finally arrived at 5 am this morning.

DS and his family are all feeling better after Covid, and the kids are back to school.  DDIL got to go back to work, after being off since before Xmas.

I have a Winnie given to me by nieces and nephews when I graduated from high school.  He has made a lot of moves with me over the years.

So today I celebrate my sister’s wonderful life and the many contributions she endowed here on earth. I’m the last of my family and every day I count my Blessings for the wonderful family I grew up in. RIP Sis!❤️

A hard decision to make, but probably the right one.

May your memories keep your sister close in your heart.

  16. @smitty34877Good news about Tana.  Hoping this is a turning point.

@rafinmdYou live a busy life.  Take it easy on yourself and rest when you need to.

@ger_77showed your 'omelette' to my 7 year old DGS. He wants it for breakfast tomorrow!

Also concerned for Kazu.  She is dealing with so much, and maybe another storm this weekend.

Thanks to everyone who posted pictures today.  Great memories.  First visit was on a HAL tour.  Disappointed we didn't get to the Terrace Houses.  Second visit was a land tour.  Spent 3 nights in Kusadasi. That time we got to Mary's House and the Terrace Houses. Also went to Pamukkale and Hierapolis. The first night we had dinner in a lovely restaurant. The second night the owner greeted us as we walked down the street, welcoming us back, so in we went for dinner again. The third night we snuck by on the other side of the street, and had Domino's Pizza for dinner! We also bought a rug, that was shipped to our home, and did arrive. It brings back memories too.

  17. @kazuSending prayers and hugs for you, Jose, Marley and Miko.

@smitty34877Baby Camilla is a sweetheart.  Lovely picture.

We spent 1 1/2 days in Civitavecchia before boarding a TA.  Nice day of wandering and visiting churches and museums.  Totally shocked when we arrived at the port to find only 103 people were boarding there.

On another trip we spent several days in Rome after a cruise. We went to St. Peter's on Maundy Thursday. While we were there a procession of Cardinals walked thru to a chapel for a service, and then proceeded back after the service.  Interesting to see.
