LIVE from Equinox (June 24, 2023), sailing on a budget
vickykay replied to AbbyCruiser45's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Lamb chops were always on the smart casual menu the first day ( Eclipse this past May). My husband’s favorite!). He ordered the roast lamb and found it inedible ( tough and full of gristle). And he’s not at all picky). Our assistant waited replaced it but it was exactly the same. Hopefully was a one off. I can’t remember what I had ( excellent) but seems no longer on the menu. -
We went to Pearl Harbor on our own the second day the ship was in port. We booked the tickets as soon as opened.

We were sorry we didn’t go to Eden when on the Apex a year ago. Already booked on the Beyond Sept 2024. Looks amazing!

We were a short walk from the Hilton. Husband had to have a drink at the at the bar featured on Hawaii 5-0!

Good morning. We stayed at the Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort. Loved it. It’s actually not on Waikiki but on a small beach about a ten minute walk from the hotels on Waikiki Beach. We had an Oceanview Club Room which included a terrific breakfast and Happy Hour ( enough for dinner). It was pricy but we were celebrating our 50th anniversary. Be sure to book a north shore tour.

We just did the recent May cruise Hawaii to Vancouver. Loved it. One somewhat rough day on way to Vancouver but to too bad. Spend some time in Honolulu before the cruise.

So very much enjoying your review and Amsterdam photos. We’ve been there several times and it’s our favorite small city. Enjoy!

Equinox Menu - Main Dining Upcharges Showing on App

We were on the Eclipse Hawaii to Vancouver this past May. We noticed significant cuts in the MDR appetizer menu. There were always several interesting choices in the past. This cruise several nights just salads and a soup ( due to dietary issues I cannot eat salads or beans, corn etc) so many soups were out for me. The filet and prime rib were still in the menu as was the lobster. The lobster was so tiny we thought anyone who ordered an extra for $17 were crazy. Lamb chops ( which were my husband’s favorite) were replaced by roast lamb. My husband found it tough and full of gristle. Our waitress replaced it but was just the same. We have been loyal Celebrity cruisers for 25 years and know things will not be the same as it was but come on Celebrity. -
Alaska on the Solstice - random observations

Thanks for your review. We haven’t cruised to Alaska but are considering for the future. Our very first cruise was also on the Century 25 years ago and completely hooked us on cruising. Wow, was she a wonderful ship! We really do miss the Michael Roux partnership! -
Very much enjoyed your review, especially of the Rocky Mountaineer. So detailed. Can I ask which tour company you used for your Lake Louise tour? Thanks.

We went on our recent Eclipse cruise ( Hawaii) and enjoyed it very much. We asked about it when we got on board and we’re able to sign up..

We did the Warnemunde and Restock tour thru Celebrity several years ago and really enjoyed it. Restock is a university town ( as I remember) and my husband, a college prof, really enjoyed it. Very charming little town. We had lunch (included) when we returned to Warnemunde and our guide, a very personable young man, actually stayed with us when lunch was over and walked some of us around town, on his own time. He took us to a grocery store as requested to buy some local foods. We all also bought some German wines, which at the time, we were allowed to take to our cabins. Enjoy. -
Thanks everyone!

There is usually a second Cafe Bacio as you enter the Oceanview cafe on the side ( not sure about M class ships).
