  1. Looks like we may be sharing the sneaked out samples. Perhaps we can all join in spirit in our respective ‘glasshouses’ along with Presto and hopefully others and raise a toast to something. It does solve the ‘do you want to drive or have I got to’ conundrum though. 🥴
  2. If you can sneak out some samples and save them for us, that would be good. I suppose we can ask the captain to put his foot down and get back to Southampton at record speed but as we don’t leave Haugesund until the afternoon of the 25th, we may struggle.
  3. We’d love to but we will be somewhere in the North Sea coming back from Norway on Aurora.
  4. Provided the quality or choices on the MDR menus do not decrease, I would be happy to sometimes pay a supplement for something better and more expensive such as fillet steak. What is wrong with providing choice over and above the usual menu, as long as the usual menu is not affected? I would be very surprised if there are many cruisers who cannot afford to pay a supplement for a special treat every now and again.
  5. Thanks for the excellent reviews. We are on Aurora in three weeks time so I am delighted to read so many positive comments. Hopefully the Ted Bovis character will be on a break but if not, I am sure we still have a great time.
  6. So sorry to hear of your loss Sue. Condolences to you and your family.
  7. Allow the water companies to dispose of it in the way they seem to do regularly at the moment or ship it off to another country we use to cope with much of our recycling.
  8. Probably about time to thank you for providing the information about what seems to be a good cruise, provided you don’t mind some iffy weather at sea. Menus and activities in Horizon don’t seem to have changed greatly from out last cruise which was pre ‘you know what’. I think that is a good thing and makes me look forward to our cruise on Aurora next month even more enthusiastically. Thanks again.
  9. Got back OK through the rainy tempest. Roads in Cheshire were flooded or partially flooded in places, not helped by us being diverted down some narrow country lanes because the main road was closed by an accident.
  10. Thanks Josy. I will do my best but the beautiful weather of yesterday is a thing of the past. Heavy rain through the night and continuing.
  11. Warnings of yellow snow? Only sensible if you are considering eating it. 😇🐶
  12. Do you believe anything that GB News says?
  13. We are just a bit further round the coast from Prestatyn although home tomorrow for a few days.
  14. I don’t know whether there is any truth to the tale that in the early days of P&O, there was an accountant on board to check that there were only a limited amount of vegetables served to the crew and guests. Hence the birth of the term ‘beancounters’.
  15. Just a word of advice. If you find yourself sitting on the wing, make sure there is somebody on the other side for balance. 🥴
  16. I spoke too soon. Now it has clouded over and is raining☹️
  17. No storm here in North Wales. Sunshine and fluffy clouds. Warm enough to sit outside reading my book and drinking tea. I wish storms were always this nice. It did tip it down with rain during the night though.
  18. It is about 8 years since I went to Egypt on a cruise but visas were dealt with onboard without any input from individual passengers. I have flown there a few times, again many years ago and visas were available on arrival at the airport from an official with a suitcase who I think was genuine.
  19. I read a lot of ‘Scandi crime fiction’. My favourite is still Henning Mankell who not only wrote the Wallander books and also others, many rooted in Africa, that are really good.
  20. They normally seem to be a ‘jenga style’ pile of six soggy lumps of potato. Although our last cruise was 2019, my memory of Marco’s ‘three times fried hand cut chips’ in Epicurean, is exactly that. I have also suffered them in other places. Give me well fried frozen machine cut chips any day.
  21. I agree but think I would have gone for the Steak and Kidney pie with suet pastry, with or without green beans.
  22. Discussion on this topic is covered in many threads recently. One such is ‘Goodbye P&O’ on the first page of the thread list. I suggest you look at some of these rather than repeating the discussions on this new thread. Just don’t believe everything you read (on both sides) because there are contradictions between peoples’ perceptions.
  23. We are on the same cruise next year and we’re wondering the same thing. As we are in a suite, I was hoping that as a last resort, the butler may be able to exert some influence on making bookings onboard for us.
  24. We paid £15 for the winter months last year. It appeared as though we were one of the very few on the estate of 400 houses to do so. The driver has a list of those who have paid and only visits those houses to see whether anything is left out. Often there is nothing to collect.
