  1. Many thanks for providing the facts. I am glad you are both OK and once back home, as presumably the chair and batteries are still under warranty, you can get a replacement.
  2. The two dishes you have mentioned would not be my choice but presumably they are aimed primarily at vegetarians and maybe vegans. Your comment about deliberately getting people to pay for alternate venues may be right but considering what they offer both in food and service, I am not sure they make much profit. I don’t suppose Arcadia and Aurora can cater for more than 10% of passengers in their select restaurants because they are quite small and there are only two of them. Of course the larger ships have much more choice, paid for or not.
  3. I may have a similar problem but I certainly would not blame P&O / chefs and kitchen staff, or question the quality of the food just because it was not to my taste. There are of course alternative dining venues on each ship in the fleet which serve different food from the MDR.
  4. I am a fussy eater, especially of things that are green of that come from shells, but I would never describe something as not ‘half decent’, just because it wasn’t to my taste.
  5. Charlie says that if that is now you think, he is glad you are not his human 🐶 (but he still likes the treats you give him).
  6. That is our usual tactic. It gets even cheaper if you have loyalty club discount or lots of OBC. In fact, a few years ago, a litre of Courvoisier Brandy was cheaper bought through room service than at the ship’s own duty free shop.
  7. I would always drink lager cold but not a decent bitter or ale. Guinness seems to be served chilled nowadays whereas in the past, when I enjoyed a good glass or three of Guinness, it was always served at room temperature. I wonder whether serving draught ales chilled makes storage and serving easier with less waste. Perhaps there is an expert on here who can tell us.
  8. Or when it’s been in the fridge, Old Speckled Frozen Chicken. 😱
  9. Thanks again for that. You have reminded me about the need to train the bar staff to keep a stock of room temperature ales rather than sticking them all in the fridge.
  10. Selbourne, Thanks for your report so far. I wonder whether next time you see an ORCA person, could you please ask them if they know whether there will be somebody from ORCA on our upcoming Northern Lights cruise on Aurora which leaves Southampton on November 15th. Hopefully there will be, but maybe with the shortage of daylight in Norway at this time of year, it might be a waste of their time. Thanks
  11. Not sure about port and brandy but brandy and more brandy sounds better.
  12. Happy 21st birthday Presto 😼😊. Glorious Welsh weekend but dull and rainy now. See you tomorrow?
  13. It seems it may be available now. All we have to do now is persuade Amazon to deliver to the ship if we order anything. A drone onto the top deck may be a possibility 🌞😇?
  14. Molecrochip, The cruise I have booked the discounted internet for is on Aurora departing on November 15. I assumed the larger ships will get starlink first - will Aurora have it by Nov 15?
  15. Thanks for that. We are in Tenerife in March next year so will try to find it if our flight times permit (6:00 am from Manchester).
  16. That is certainly my experience when paying for petrol at the pump. It would be interesting to know how widespread this issue is with P&O. Evidence on this thread so far is very thin - it has happened, but not many posters indicate it that has happened to them, at least with P&O. I have recently registered my debit card (I choose not to have a credit card) for our upcoming cruise during the online check in process. Mind you, having already paid for internet and drinks package, I am not anticipating that at the end of the cruise, after OBC is taken off, there will be much left to pay. I hope there will be no similar problems to the one OP has experienced.
  17. I booked the internet package for an upcoming cruise last night and received both the 15% discount and the 10% loyalty club discount. Still not cheap but if it works well, it will be useful, if it doesn’t, we will make our feelings known to P&O.
  18. Just to wish all who are celebrating birthdays / have celebrated birthdays this month many happy returns. Hope you have / had a great day and been thoroughly spoilt.
  19. Mrs Pete asked if I could have a sticker and they obliged with one for flu and one for c…d.
  20. Thanks Damian, a much needed win. And congratulations to the 2500 or so Leeds fans who made the journey to a cold but not wet and windy Wednesday night in Stoke. I am not sure what they made of the new and quite impressive music and flashing light display before the kick off.
  21. Not as good a game as Stoke City’s excellent victory over Leeds Utd I don’t suppose.
  22. I can well understand why you said nothing and I am concerned that the cabin steward / supervisor or another crew member apparently did nothing. Putting such an impediment in such a narrow corridor is surely dangerous for a person with a sight impairment. Mind you, during the day there are often trolleys used by cabin stewards left in the corridors.
  23. Not officially. However, if there is a reasonable number of you that you know in advance ( check if there is a roll call set up for your cruise), they will probably be able to find you a room to meet if you contact them well in advance.
