  1. Chilly weather. Sun! quiet seas. sea day. 140 pax came aboard in Barcelona. Ship full. no early boarding. exceptional crew.
  2. Tonight in Barcelona 44 degrees F. That is expedition weather.
  3. Jolly, boarding the 27th if all goes as planned. Leaving chaos in my wake. Sorry to hijack this thread.
  4. Well a few smiles from me already… First to the lady asking for the leftovers to be wrapped up ( hope in the shape of an aluminum foil swan to match your towel art). Lady, you should know that refrig in your suite doesn’t keep food properly cold, which is why pax are discouraged from taking food to go. I suppose pizza can be left at room temp and won’t spoil that quickly, again, memories of some days or nights in college when leftover pizza was maybe left OUT pizza. I didn’t get sick or die. I may have experienced some issues, but not sure it was from the pizza. I left packing for the last minute, so I may have as much luggage as the Stumble fam, if the plane lets me board. I did add a lot of denim( or should i say dungarees?)since we aren’t precluded from wearing them in La Dame, or anywhere! I am excited to be aboard again, and see lovely people like Jolly. Hoping I can sit in at triv, I promise i wont play. See you soonest Jolly!!!! Stumbles, I will leave the return to luxury comment alone. VERY VERY hard for me to do. Finally a question. Because I still have time before my flight across the pond, and I can add another suitcase, do i need a parka or is there one provided for me? This is an expedition cruise right?
  5. Regarding the nasal spray. Is it accepted if so by whom? A governmental agency? The FDA? A single study? Or is the efficacy anecdotal?
  6. I am reading this thread and I can’t fathom why and how a single cigar smoking person is holding the ship hostage with fumes. Is the HD so impotent that they can not get this offensive behavior stopped, or is the cigar person too powerful in the Silversea hierarchy? It really boggles the mind.
  7. Ok, no lusting after lustre. i think the lustre voyages are on a different line… maybe not. But that would be reason for a glow in some circumstances.
  8. Just a brief comment that I have learned much through reading all of the commentary/posts! Maybe Silversea could use a bit of polish to restore its brilliant shine. Or, as some feel, there is no tarnish whatsoever. We will be aboard in a month or so and weigh in.
  9. Are the photos from the silver note? For me those plates are a distraction… like the hat plate they use for salad at the grill. Reminds me of a sombrero… thanks for posting, what was the food???
  10. Paolo aboard!!! Wow, one of the very best!
  11. This post isn’t for a flame opportunity, but a more serious discussion of the current state of Silversea. On recent sailings it seems there are more complaints, about most everything. While we do not have 500 days aboard, we are getting closer to that mark. Using the retrospectroscope to compare, our first experiences were much better than those of late. We have made excuses, Covid, supply chain, etc, etc. Is Silversea resting on it’s laurels? Counting on the loyal Venetians? Seeking new cruisers who have no history to make “comparisons” with the promise of all inclusive luxury? Why do we keep coming back and spending oodles of money? For us, its the crew. They are stellar. We have two cruises coming up in the very near future. Ever the loyal optimists, we are hopeful that perhaps a bit of polishing has happened, some of the tarnish removed and the shine restored.
  12. MSC has offered reciprocal status for a long time. Not sure how many Venetians will enjoy the size of the ship other than trying out the yacht club which is an enclave offering butlers, private bar, pool and pool bar and restaurant for about 250 pax. The suites are comparable to those on MSC.
  13. A friend who is aboard reported that her suite door would not stay closed during the night due to the intense winds. Heavy weather indeed! Hope that it has improved!
  14. Glad to hear weather is good! Some friends boarding soon, they are looking forward to the Azores and Canaries and of course sea days! Stay well.
  15. Surely this is tongue in cheek? Do you also enrobe yourself in these towels when you go out and about? Instead I suggest a hazmat suit. And a respirator. Covid and many other nasty germs and viruses are ubiquitous even on a cruise ship, and quite frankly, perhaps more so. All of those people touching the rails in the passageways, the elevators, the utensils in the buffet line at the one pool, I could go on and on.
  16. Yes we got dark chocolate boats two weeks ago along with our covid.
  17. Here is the bedside light that was dangling by its electric cable, surely not too safe if you have wet hands or for kids to deal with. As mentioned, we reported it, they sent two guys to fix it to no avail. We were told it had been broken for almost a year!
  18. Forgot to mention, there is a grab bar on the far wall of the shower. There is a small bench seat in the shower. One must make a small step into the shower enclosure. And as is the case on most cruise ships, the bathroom is a step up. There are a variety of electric outlets and there are also USB ports.
  19. The below excerpt is from an infectious disease specialist. Posted today. Its not just the Moon that is having pax with covid.
