  1. What are they sweeping under the rug? That people can get Covid on a cruise ship? Is that a surprise to anyone? I’m on the Glory now and next week. If I get sick once I leave, oh well. Having a great time sitting here on the beach at Mahogany Bay
  2. Yeah, I’m an idiot. I was reading under the unvaccinated guest part about the testing costs. So that won’t apply. But this is what threw me. All guests traveling on back to back cruises will need to be tested in between voyages. Irrespective of voyage length, testing will be provided on a complimentary basis to children ages 2-4. Unvaccinated children ages 5-11 will be charged US$60 per person, and guests ages 12 and older will be charged US$150 per person to their onboard Sail & Sign account for testing and reporting. I just saw some folks saying a that testing was up to each ship now, so trying to see what the current situation is.
  3. For anyone on a recent Glory B2B, did they test before the second leg? Or, if no Glory passengers, on any other ships? Or maybe another way to put it, has anyone been on a B2B in the last month where they did test? And if they did test, did they really charge $150 per person? Craziness.
  4. Unless you really need to FaceTime, I’d just get the social package and text folks back home. And when you are in a port that where you can get decent wifi, FaceTime then. not trying to tell you what to do. Just seems like the difference in cost ipaages to FaceTime a couple of times in the cruise is a lot.
  5. For me, it’s primarily shirts and underwear. We don’t always do laundry but it’s nice having them do it without having to cringe at paying for it.
  6. Direct from Carnival site. No mention of needing anything from a doctor. Document of Recovery Guests who have recovered from COVID-19 within 3 months of their sailing date do not need the required pre-cruise test if they are at least 10 days past their positive test result date, have no symptoms and produce document of recovery from COVID-19. A Document of Recovery is accepted from both fully vaccinated and unvaccinated guests (with a Carnival-approved exemption) and consists of a paper or electronic copy of the positive viral test result from a certified laboratory (dated no more than 90 days prior to the sailing date).
  7. Maybe I’m confused but why are you stressing out? If you have evidence of a positive test, you’re good to go. You don’t need anything from your doctor and you don’t need to retest.
  8. They put in a 10 day minimum. So if a positive test is under the 10 days, you need a negative test.
  9. I’ve seen references to hours vs days in terms of testing. And maybe I’m missing it on Carnival’s site, but it says vaccinated but not boosted can test two days prior to a sailing. So if a sailing is on Sunday, vaccinated guests can test Friday. I take that to mean anytime Friday. So if someone tested at 12:01 on Friday that would be more than 48 hours before a Sunday sailing but still within Carnival’s two day rule. Where is the number of hours coming into play here?
  10. Skip all questions that you can until you get to the check in time question.
  11. Holland America is definitely a higher service level. Not sure why if that’s your favorite you’d go on Carnival. I’ve never thought Carnival caters that much to frequent cruisers. While HA has a lot of positives, the two cruises I’ve done on it, the casino and night entertainment was dead. But yes, if that’s your favorite, I totally understand not wanting to go on Carnival.
  12. Agree with others that without proof of the positive Covid, you’ll need to take the test. That’s why if I tested positive, I would make sure I went to a lab/pharmacy or doctor to get that proof. Get outta taking those tests then.
  13. I would assume there is Covid in every cruise ship. Of all the cruises, doing one where I’d have to fly back to the USA is out for me. Covid is here to stay so until policies catch up with the science that it’s here to stay, just not worth getting stuck somewhere. Caribbean works just fine. Not because there’s no Covid, but because it’s not going to strand us somewhere.
  14. Question about the comedy if you went. How was the seating? Easy or hard to get seats?
  15. They are definitely cutting back on stores that offer the rapid tests. The ones near me offer PCR but no longer do rapid tests.
