  1. In a normal situation, what time does boarding start for the Horizon?
  2. Acksually, I saw a memo from carnival brass that said they were tired of certain cruisers avoiding the ordinary masses. This was their way of forcing them to meet new people.
  3. Don’t mean to hijack the thread but how busy was the craps table on the Horizon? In my two cruises so far, it’s been hit or miss. On one, table was hopping. The other, not so much. And I don’t mean was the table winning. I mean people playing.
  4. Correct. Who knows? In the meantime, I had a blast on my last cruise and just glad we are back to cruising.
  5. Straw man argument. Of course they need to comply. And they are if they want to cruise. My point is, there are a lot of people who aren’t cruising because of the testing. And I think way more who aren’t cruising because of the testing than people who would stop cruising if they stopped testing. I feel like I won a golden ticket when I tested positive after my last cruise so I don’t have to test for my next 3 cruises. I shouldn’t have to feel that way. But thems the rules.
  6. Well, under current rules, if you test positive more than 10 days out, you’re good. No need to test before the cruise. Happy cruising. Otherwise, you’ll need a negative test within the 2-3 day window before the cruise. If you test positive then, you’ll need to reschedule. None of has anything to do with how you feel. It all comes down to the test results and the timing.
  7. Agree. And some would say, if the testing stops one person with Covid, it’s worth it. And I say, no it’s not. People assume the risk. Let them decide whether to get on the ship. I know a lot of people who aren’t cruising because of the testing. Not because they are fundamentally against testing. But because they don’t want to deal with the possible last minute cancellation. So they take land based vacations. Covid is here to stay. People can decide if they want to cruise just like they do when they go anywhere in public.
  8. Your opinion on the profit margin of the Cucina is meaningless. You said they didn’t do this to switch staff to help in other areas. You said they did it to save costs. With literally no evidence. That makes little sense. But I’m guessing you probably know that and just want to feel good about your tantrum as to why it’s not open. You might have to suffer and eat with the hot polloi. Oh the horror!
  9. The way I see it: 1) the market has spoken. If cruise lines got rid of testing, enough people would cruise to overcome anyone who decides to tap out. Increasing the testing is silly and ain’t gonna happen. More likely that testing goes bye bye before more testing. 2) you will be exposed to Covid on ships. Just like anywhere else you go. 3) if you want to wear a mask, wear one. No one cares. 4) if you are really, really afraid to get Covid, don’t cruise.
  10. Yep. And if they are going to accept vaccines from a year and a half ago, it absolutely makes sense to do this.
  11. How should I know if I for sure have been exposed? I tested positive. More than 10 days ago and haven’t been exposed to my knowledge. And it’s 100% accurate. As far as I know.
  12. So, Carnival put the breaks on services that generate revenue……as a cost saving tool? Cruise critic is also a place to get outstanding business advice. Who knew?
  13. If we are still in a pandemic, then literally every time I come into contact with anyone, and that’s just about daily, there’s possible exposure. So, it’s not lying to say I’ve been exposed to Covid. Having said that, for my last cruise, I used the emed just for convenience, so paid out of pocket. But my next 3 cruises, positive test so all good.
  14. I think the cost of testing is going to go up just like testing for anything else. But in the meantime, it’s not like CVS needs to know it’s for travel.
  15. Like Horizon>Magic. But like the Magic ports a little more. I love Bonaire because I love snorkeling and it was the best snorkeling I’ve ever done. So I’d give the edge to Horizon.
  16. Not much of one. On my last cruise, we went with my sister who had to use paper documents. It took her all of a minute or two longer than me. But she had her paperwork in order so it was easy for them to review.
  17. Understand. But check out the menu on those nights. If you like the menu, don’t sweat the dress code.
  18. When you put your card in a machine, you create an account. Basically, creating a PIN. And then you can add money onto that account. And then play.
  19. We did recently on the Glory. You can either put it on the slots, and then cash out. Or put it on your card at the tables. But that costs a 3% surcharge.
  20. Who was the comic that offended you? I love offensive comics, so want to be on the lookout for this one.
  21. That must be a ship to ship thing. My wife and I were sit with random people for dining way more than we sat solo. And we don’t mind that at all.
  22. But you can’t board without the negative test., so it would be moot if the results don’t come through.
  23. I wear shorts, not gym shorts, every night in the MDR except for elegant night. Then I wear long pants. Not a suit. Business casual.
  24. This is correct. I’ve seen some folks talk about doctor’s note. That’s not necessary. But it has to be a result from a lab, not the at home. Unless it’s an emed type at home.
  25. Caught a case last week, so now we are good for our next 3 cruises. Did not get it on the first leg of the B2B. But did in the second. As for masks on our cruises, I’d say it was south of 5%. If that high. And most were just cloth masks with peoples noses hanging out.
