VIP Priority Plus

Dear Cruise Critic Members,

Here is some further information on our new VIP Priority Plus package that was recently launched fleetwide.

The package is available only to guests in a balcony or mini-suite stateroom, on voyages of 3 days or longer. We are limiting the number of packages sold per cruise to a small number.

The package is available for purchase once onboard at the Guest Services Desk until 1:00 pm on Day 2 for all voyages four days and longer and by 6:00 pm on embarkation day for three-day sailings.

Pricing for the VIP Priority Package is:

$49 per person for 3-day voyage

$64 per person for 4-day voyage

$79 per person for 5-day voyage

$89 per person for 6-day voyage

$99 per person for 7-day voyage

An additional fee of $10 per person per day for voyages 8-days and longer, based on the 7-day voyage package price. For example: the price for one person on a 9-day cruise would be $119 ($99 plus $20 for the two additional days).

The VIP Priority package includes:

-Daily Breakfast and Lunch in Cagney’s Restaurant for all Ships, except Norwegian Sun, Jewel, Breakaway, Getaway and Epic.

- Breakfast and Lunch will be served in La Cucina on Norwegian Sun and in Moderno’s on Norwegian Jewel.

- On Norwegian Breakaway, Getaway, and Epic, guests can order from an upgraded Breakfast Room Service Menu PLUS one free banquet seating admission per person to either Cirque Dreams & Dinner on Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Epic or The Illusionarium on Norwegian Getaway.

- Invitation to the Captain’s Party.

- Complimentary hors d’oeuvres delivered twice per week per stateroom

-One bottle of sparkling wine per stateroom (except on Pride of America, where guests receive chocolate covered pineapple wedges).

-One 8”X10” or 6”X8” photo per person.

-Priority tender and disembarkation.

Thank you for clearing that up. I don't think it would be worth it for the Breakaway or Getaway but for the other ships it might.

The one thing it does not offer is the Butler which is the one thing I can do without and those little dry triangle sandwiches in the afternoon (pass).. So instead of a $7000 suite with perks , we can now go with a &1200 Balcony (or 2) with the same said perks.. Im in ;)

Agreed. Wondering why I should bother with a suite now given that it'll be cheaper to pay for the benefits. I can't imagine many suite guests are going to appreciate having to wait at Cagneys for breakfast and lunch.

Us, too! We sail in a family suite to accommodate our larger family, but we'd get an extra bathroom, plus two balconies if we book two rooms. AND some privacy! LOL. Won't have to give up the things we like (breakfast and lunch in Cagney's) and totally won't mind losing the butler.

I would like to know what a "small number" is. I sail in 3 1/2 weeks in a suite so I will share my experience with it once I am back.

I hope whichever employee came up with this grand idea has been brushing up on their resume' :p

I guess this means the likely end of the complimentary VIP status that I have been lucky enough to be granted twice. I agree with the others who generally sail in suites - the Cagney's benefit was the only reason that DDP and I had considered sailing in suites...if we are able to buy that aspect then we will be just fine in a balcony. Guess one of us will have to run to book the VIP and the other to book Chef's table! ;)

Thanks for clearing this up. Any possibility you could also clear up what's happening with the CAS tier benefits? There's another thread started recently about the CAS perks where there seems to be quite a bit of confusion and mystery. Thanks.

Yep , its the death of the comped VIP...

My list of why a suite for us .. ( we are Platinum so we get all that other stuff anyway )

Even if NCL only sold 20 of these VIP packages that is 40 people who are paying and will definately be at breakfast.

Wrong. Each pass is only good for ONE person.

So, so, so disappointed to see this. The quiet, prompt, attentive suite breakfast is, without a doubt, our favorite suite perk. To be able to walk in, order a hot made-to-order breakfast, and head off for our day within 30 minutes is priceless. Those days are obviously long gone. :(

Well one good thing for suite passengers on breakaway and getaway VIP priority plus is not good for the haven restaurant only room service breakfast and NO lunch so everyone can breathe now.

On a side note I thought a lot of suite passengers really like the space of suite (have seen that mentioned here many times) and not all the perks. You still have your butler and all the perks and quiet haven dining so it's a win win.

I am paying over 8K for two people in our suite for the Baltics next summer. We already are platinum so I get a lot of the perks anyhow- we always sail in suites as we like the exclusivity. I was debating moving us to a two bedroom suite and bringing along our son and his girlfriend or just getting the two of them an inside cabin. From what I am reading I can save myself a ton of money and get two connecting balcony cabins and buy the VIP package. I think this is a huge mistake. I will see how it goes in the Getaway in December but there is a reason I pay what I do for suites..:(

There is no Haven on the Star. If I am paying double what someone in an inside cabin is paying I should be able to have the exclusivity I am paying out good money for.

I wouldn't change your plans yet. First of all we don't know how long this promo will be good for and second they say limited space so we don't exactly know how many they are selling for each cruise. I would wait and see what the outcome is.

This reminds me so much of when the no smoking on balconies came out so many people said well now I'm not cruising anymore. So with this new promo people are doing the same thing by saying so now I won't buy a suite anymore. You will still miss out on all other perks that this promo does not give. Do people only get a suite just to eat in Cagneys?

Yup. With the except of ships with a dedicated Haven restaurant, if sailing the older ships, you'd have to be crazy to pay for a suite. In fact, the Butler is the least desirable amenity for us.

I doubt that there will be more guests in Cagneys for breakfast and lunch now. This perk was taken away from the Golden and VIP CAS guests. On my last Gem cruise there were 6 VIP and 24 Golden CAS guests, that amounted to 60 plus(anyone staying in the room had the perk) guests with the Cagneys benefit. Granted some were already in suites, so lets say at least 40 people. If the New plan is limited, it will more than likely be close to the same number of non-suite guests in Cagneys.

This is a bad decision by NCL. The Cagneys perk was something special for all the VIP's. You used to have to earn your VIP status either by being in a suite, playing at higher levels in the casino or just being granted VIP status by NCL for special reasons. Now being able to buy your way into VIP is wrong.

You could be paying double what the person next to you paid, suite or not.

Cagney's is nice for breakfast and lunch, but truthfully the service you can get from your butler and especially a good concierge is far more valuable to me anyway.

I am sure that NCL will not let this become a nuisance to its suite passengers. The key is how limited will it actually be. I'm guessing it will be low impact.
