10:20 Flight from New Orleans

What day of the week?

Self assist luggage or putting it out the night before? FTTF?

If my memory is correct, we got off the Dream around 7am on a Sunday. That was self assist FTTF.

If your flight is at 10:20am, you need to be at the airport (say) 9am. Weekday traffic, it could take 30-45 minutes to get from the port to the airport.

We had a 12:30 flight when we came off the Carnival Dream in April and it was tighter than we would have liked. We were supposed to start disembarking around 8, but it ended up being closer to 9:30 because of a medical debate and being held by customs.

I would be worried about 10:30. Carnival suggests no earlier than 11:30.

With Faster to the Fun and carrying our own luggage off the ship we were AT the airport by 8AM last Saturday in New Orleans!!

I never thought we'd be off that early and had booked an 11:30 flight!

Luckily with Southwest we were easily able to change to an earlier flight with no problem!

I don't know how much later you'd be with checked luggage??

There was a couple who I heard talking who had an 8AM flight.

They were trying to make arrangements to be off even earlier than us but I have no idea if they made it or not?

That was MUCH to early to book but 10:30ish seems doable.

Those that have been around a while know my standard comment to this question:

You wouldn't be asking if you weren't worried about it.

If you book outside of recommended times your insurance may not pay.

What is your backup plan? Some airlines let you cancel without penalty. Others charge a significant amount to change to a different flight.

And to add to your specific cruise I think you are still in prime fog time.

Sorry. I should have posted that we disembark on March 12, 2017, which is a Sunday

As noted above, March is still fog season. It takes 8 hours in good weather for the ship to move up the river. March is also iffy flight weather depending on your connections and destination. If you are unable to make your flight, travel insurance won't help because you didn't follow the recommended times. Flights will also be packed so getting rebooked same day is unlikely.
