No beer deals, right?

We are close to committing to Cheers! But hubby needs something confirmed...

When we boarded DCL there were people selling discounted beer packages. We ordered a set number (20?) And got a set number free (4?) compared with regular purchase price. The guy delivered them to our room and it included a cute little cooler. It was perfect for us.

Since I haven't come across any mention of this on CCL (other than non-discounted beer buckets) I assume it is not a thing on CCL? (And likely only on DCL cuz they do not have any all-inclusive drink packages).

Thanks for helping make our Cheers! decision!

Carnival does not offer any beer deals like that. You can preorder a 4 pack with a cooler but it will be full price. If you get a bucket of 4 beers at a bar, they will take $2 off the total cost. I only drink beer and am very happy with Cheers.

Nope no deals other than buying a bucket of beer so I think you get one free when you buy 5 (so a total of 6 in the bucket). Only kind of deal I can remember and that was several years ago so they may not even do that anymore.

$1 off per beer when you buy the bucket.

This is the correct description of the discount Carnival offers at it's bars when you order a bucket of beer. Canned/bottled beers range in price from $4.75 for a 12oz can of Bud Lite to $7.95 for a Fosters 25oz oil can. The bulk of 16oz bottles are either $6.25 and $6.50, and you can mix and match beers plus some other varieties of bottled beverages including like hard lemonade and hard ciders.

So in theory you can buy a bucket for as little as $19/bud lite bucket and as much as $29.80/ Fosters bucket. Do take that discount plus the limit of 15 alcoholic drinks/person when calculating if Cheers is of any benefit to your cabin. Also to mention is under Cheers the beer is generally served to opened.

Thanks for that....Cheers! seems like a no-brainer for martini and high-end-wine consumers, but the math is a bit closer for brew fans. But I think with the other beverages it includes it makes sense. Plus we could try some of the other drinks without the risk of not liking what I paid so much for!

Dang, it's changed since the last time I bought a bucket. :(
Then you must of not sailed Carnival since before 2010. That's when I started sailing this line, and 4 mix-n-match, bottled or canned, alcoholic beverages at a $2 discount is all it it's every been, in my experience.

My upcoming cruise of 7 nights just dosen't make sence for Cheers, we are off the ship 4 days, booked excursions with drinks provided. We are usually worn out after an active day ashore. We're cruising to have a great time and looking forward to Fun Times!

I’m guessing the break even for Cheers if you just drink beer is about 11 or 12 regular size beers (with a cap of 15).

Maybe not worth it

Break even on about your 8th beer...depending on the size/style.

I still think Cheers is worth it even on port days. You’re back on the ship usually by mid afternoon...a drink or three before dinner, a couple after dinner or in the casino. Perhaps an Irish coffee in the evening or a specialty coffee in the morning (the regular coffee at breakfast is blah in my opinion). Not to mention waters, etc. For approx $50 a day I really do think it’s a decent deal considering it’s more than just alcohol and you don’t need to think about “should I have this or that...wonder what my tab is?” etc.

That also depends on who you book with and how much they drink - for me i dont drink so not worth double the price for hubby to have it

For everyone it's different. I'm usually back on the boat by 4-5. By that point, I'm looking to get rehydrated from the drinks and sun I just had, and get ready for dinner. Three drinks before dinner, I admire your enthusiasm lol.

Haha...thanks, I think. Let’s be honest though, the basic drinks on the ship aren’t terribly strong. I guess I’m saying that in my defense lol

100 percent agree. If one in the party isn’t a drinker then I don’t see how it could ever be worth it.

I don't buy Cheers so much for the saving butI like having every think paid in full. I pre pay my tips, put lots on my sail and sign and pay my CC in full before I step on the ship. Otherwise knowing me I would be penny pinching the entire cruise. I like being able to try something without worrying if I am wasting my money.
