MelRagozzino Posted June 23, 2018 #1 Share Posted June 23, 2018 Hello, Can you please tell me the distances, travel times and costs from where Royal Caribbean docks to each Horseshoe Bay and Elbow Beach? Also, which is your first choice to visit? We will only have about 8 hours between disembarking and embarking. Thank you! SailBadtheSinner Posted June 23, 2018 #2 Share Posted June 23, 2018 Royal Caribbean docks at Heritage Wharf at the Dockyard (aka West End). The distance from there to Horseshoe Bay Beach is approx 10 miles, to the public side of Elbow Beach, 13 miles. You can get to either on a public bus, but there recently have been reliability issues. Travel time is about 30 minutes to HSB, and 40 minutes to EB depending on local traffic. The fare would be a $4.50 token to either beach. The bus would drop you at a stop that requires walking ½-¾ miles to the beach. A taxi is available to either. The fare to HSB is about $34 plus tip for 1 to 4 passengers, Mon - Sat travel, to EB about $43.. Travel time to HSB is about 20-25 minutes, to EB, 30-35 minutes. There is a mini-bus service available to HSB. The fare is $7p/p. It would be available to EB if there are least 7 paxs who want to make the trip. The fare would be about $8p/p. The taxi and mini-bus gives you door to door service. You are taken right to the beach. I would go to HSB because it is closer and has full amenities; EB does not. Terpsfan1 Posted June 26, 2018 #3 Share Posted June 26, 2018 How do you get the minibus service? Also, will there be minibuses available to take you back to the dock?
SailBadtheSinner Posted June 26, 2018 #4 Share Posted June 26, 2018 How do you get the minibus service? Also, will there be minibuses available to take you back to the dock? You walk from the cruse ship to Zone 5 of the Transportation Zone (map below). Look for a mini-bus that has enough room for you, and you board the mini-bus. As you board the mini-bus you hand the driver the $7 fare; find a seat. At Horseshoe Bay, in the parking area, there will be mini-buses waiting. Board one that is filling. Pay the driver the $7 fare; Find a seat. SBtS
SRF Posted June 28, 2018 #5 Share Posted June 28, 2018 When you get down the transportation area, there will be people asking what you need and pointing you to the right place. And yes, when the minibuses drop off pax at HSB, they wait until loaded for the return trip. So pretty much always buses waiting to go back. dcruisers Posted June 29, 2018 #6 Share Posted June 29, 2018 Do all ships dock at the same location? We will be on Celebrity and curious where it docks? Same place as RCL?
SailBadtheSinner Posted June 29, 2018 #7 Share Posted June 29, 2018 Do all ships dock at the same location? NoWe will be on Celebrity and curious where it docks? Same place as RCL? No RCL cruise ships normally dock at Heritage Wharf. Celebrity's Summit docks at King's Wharf. See diagram of the docking areas in post #4. njhorseman Posted June 29, 2018 #8 Share Posted June 29, 2018 RCL cruise ships normally dock at Heritage Wharf. Celebrity's Summit docks at King's Wharf. See diagram of the docking areas in post #4. SBtS You're correct if looking at minute essentially meaningless differences, but for practical purposes Royal Caribbean and Celebrity do dock at the same cruise port complex, the Royal Naval Dockyard, just as in NY City for example, all Carnival and NCL ships dock at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal, regardless of whether some dock at Pier 88 and some at Pier 90. The fact is that if the poster you're responding to is interested in knowing what is near where his ship will dock, and what transportation options are available near his ship, both Royal Caribbean and Celebrity ships have access to the identical facilities and transportation, because Kings Wharf and Heritage Wharf, as you well know and the map in post 4 shows, are adjacent to each other, literally a stone's throw apart. Your answer potentially could be interpreted by someone unfamiliar with Bermuda seem as though docking at Heritage Wharf versus Kings Wharf are as different as docking in Hamilton versus St. George vs Royal Naval Dockyard. So, my answer is resoundingly yes, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean do dock in the same place...the Royal Naval Dockyard.

Candleonwater Posted July 5, 2018 #10 Share Posted July 5, 2018 So I have to ask, since the website I use to see which ships are in port, what's the difference between Kings Wharf and Royal Naval Dockyard? The website shows RCL using Kings Wharf, and NCL using RND...
blueridgemama Posted July 5, 2018 #11 Share Posted July 5, 2018 There is no difference, just 2 sites with different names on the same dock for 2 ships. Look at post #4 and you will see2 ships docked. They are both at The Royal Naval Dockyard

Cruise ships can dock a 1 of the 2 wharves at the RND. The wharves' names are King's Wharf and Heritage Wharf. SBtS

Charles4515 Posted July 5, 2018 #15 Share Posted July 5, 2018 So I have to ask, since the website I use to see which ships are in port, what's the difference between Kings Wharf and Royal Naval Dockyard? The website shows RCL using Kings Wharf, and NCL using RND... There used to be only one dock at the Royal Navy Dockyard, Kings Wharf. Years ago when ships were smaller two ships could tie up at Kings Wharf. Zenith and Nordic Empress for example. As ships got larger that was no longer possible and the even bigger ships could not use the Kings Wharf berth. So a few years ago they built another berth next to King’s Wharf called Heritage Wharf. So Anthem of the Seas docks at Heritage Wharf because it is too big for King’s Wharf but they still call the port King’s Wharf on their itineraries. Go figure. They really should call the port by it’s true name, Royal Navy Dockyard.
