Ncl Epic or Carnival Breeze?

I like the Entertainment better on the Epic but much prefer the layout of the Breeze. A lot Carnival's entertainment doesn't suit my family's tastes.

I really dislike the way so much is centred around the casino and is smokey on the Epic. Although I walked through the casino a few times on the Breeze, you can avoid it and the smoke.

It would be tough for me to pick. I would likely consider the ports and the exact costs to decide.

I have sailed the Breeze twice and have sailed the Epic twice. I have a 3 week b2b2b coming up on the Epic this week.

I would definitely sail on the Epic. I have no problems with the layout. The bathrooms are a bit weird but we dealt with it.

The entertainment is a lot better on the Epic, Priscilla and Burn the Floor put Carnivals shows to shame.

Food IMO on the Epic is way better than Carnivals. When Carnival came out with their comfort menu it was like going to a local restaurant. To me, things like meatloaf and fried chicken on the MDR menu is not what I expect from a cruise. Also, I like eating in the MDR on sea days and Carnival does not have breakfast or lunch on sea days in the MDR, they have brunch which started at 9am. Minimal menu that was not appealing.

If you drink alcohol then definitely NCL is better since you only have to pay the gratuities on the UBP. On Carnival it is around $60per day pp plus 18% gratuities to get the drink package.

NCL's cabins are smaller than Carnivals but they had more storage space.

So as you can see, the Epic for us.

Our two favorite ships!

Haven on the Epic, cove balcony on the Breeze. Don't think we'd do a 4k passenger ship without the privileges of the Haven. Loved the comedy club on the Breeze and the cove balcony. The soda package on Carnival includes smoothies and fancy coffee drinks, which are extra on NCL. Bottled water was included on the UBP on Carnival.

How do the itineraries compare? So tired of the same three islands over and over. Carnival at least threw in Aruba and Curacao which were new to us.

I have been on Grand Princess, Carnival (smaller ships) and NCL Epic. Epic was a beautiful ship and completely immaculate but we did not enjoy the layout at all. The outside areas felt disconnected from each other. There was no place just to walk around the ship and enjoy being on the water. The promenade deck is totally enclosed by life boats so you cant see the water from there. The lido deck and deck above were not even close to big enough for all the people on board, I walked 3 laps around 3 different decks looking for a single chair or lounge or anything to sit outside and there was nothing. We enjoyed the burn the floor show and thought it was better than anything we saw on Carnival but pool side entertainment, deck parties and the nightclub were all better on our Carnival Cruises and in the end we had more fun on Carnival. So for our next cruise we are doing Carnival Magic (which is the sister ship of Breeze) I would certainly not shy away from going on another NCL cruise but not on Epic. I would choose one of the ships that has the Waterfront hoping for more places to enjoy being outdoors and on the water. Epic as beautiful as she was just was not the ship for us.
