Metal doors?

Hello Cruisers.

Im pretty sure the answer is yes but I do want to confirm. All stateroom doors are metal correct? I know the walls and ceiling are for sure. Going on the Conquest and the wife got a magnet for the door. Thanks for your input.

Doors have to be metal . A requirement of SOLAS ( safety at sea) that doors have to be fire proof.

The doors are metal, however, small, weak magnets will lead to whatever you are hanging, to slide down the door.

We use 3m hangers because the magnets on decorations often times don't stick to the doors.

On Valor, our magnets would not stick to the doors. They did, however, stick to the wall next to the bathroom.

That's interesting. Do you think this was because of the type of magnets used or the door's materials? I'm asking because we will be sailing on the Valor in July & I have the cutest porthole to decorate our stateroom door. Thanks!

I am wondering the same thing. We had one on Disney and it was just fine.

They were pretty weak fridge magnets. I did use them successfully on the doors of RCCL's Liberty of the Seas last year, but they wouldn't stick to the doors on Valor at all.

Yes, get strong magnets. We had some of those rubbery magnets once & every time we turned around, those things had slid down or fallen off the door. That was just the magnet - we weren't even trying to use it to hang anything. We wanted to use them as a door marker to help us find our cabin. Another cruise we used those swirly things you hang from the ceiling for parties and hung them on our mailbox. They were out of the way, yet we could spot them as we got closer to the room.

On the Inspiration, our magnets wouldn't stick to the walls or metal chair rail. But they did stick to the bathroom and cabin doors.

On our last cruise, we brought chalkboard contact paper and just stuck it on the door - for messages. It worked great. We just peeled it off at the end of the cruise.

We use the reusable tacky putty, like Elmer’s Poster Tack, for attaching something colorful to our cabin door.

Thank you all for the input. We have a sign to hang outside our door and it is one solid magnet. We will bring the 3M just in case.

On the Victory our magnets stuck to the walls between the doors. We took a magnetic white board and hung it between our cabins to let others know where we were.
