Guarantee Upgrades

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any insight into how RCL decides how to upgrade cabins when you book a Guarantee Cabin.

Would a Diamond member have a better upgrade than a non-diamond member?

Thanks for any insight.

We booked a 7D GTY for our 12/24/18 Christmas cruise for this year on Mariner. They assigned us a 4D cabin. I called today and moved the cabin to a better spot on the ship. That is what it is nice- once you are assigned a category, you can move your cabin wherever you want as long as you stay in the Cat you were assigned. So now instead of being pretty far forward on Deck 6, we are on the hump on Deck 7, so very happy!

My guess is that a free upgrade would rarely occur. We seem to have entered the age of the upsell where they will offer someone already booked in the category of the guarantee the opportunity to pay to be upgraded and then assign their cabin to someone who booked a guarantee.
