AlaskaNewbie68 Posted April 13, 2018 #1 Share Posted April 13, 2018 Of course, we leave June 9 with our brand new luggage and the rules start on June 4. I'm at work and can't recall our sizes so I'll check when we get home. REALLY hoping we are ok. /https://onemileatatime.boardingarea.com/2018/04/09/alaska-airlines-carry-on-allowance/
klfrodo Posted April 13, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 13, 2018 Even if you are oversized, Alaska is very good about offering to let you check at the gate, waive the $25 baggage charge, plus give you priority boarding for gate checking your carry on luggage. Thanks. We are planning on keeping things we really need in there such as meds and camera. Maybe it's fine. CruiserBruce Posted April 13, 2018 #4 Share Posted April 13, 2018 This change simply brings them almost totally in alignment with the vast majority of other airlines. Most use 21"x 14" x 9".
Ashland Posted April 13, 2018 #5 Share Posted April 13, 2018 I for one wish they (all carriers) would enforce their carry on policy. Ridiculous what some people will try to drag down those aisles.

Rare FlyerTalker Posted April 14, 2018 #8 Share Posted April 14, 2018 It is the total cubic inches...typically. Except total cubic inches doesn't jibe with sizer frames. Which are the usual method airlines use to determine if a bag is too big or not.
Rare pinotlover Posted April 14, 2018 #9 Share Posted April 14, 2018 I really wish US carriers would strictly enforce their own carryon rules! Would make boarding and de boarding a must simpler and pleasant experience. I’d vote for double baggage charges for those that show up at the gate with oversized and/or excess number carry ons! Triple charges for those showing up with carryons weighting over 25 lbs and needing help getting it into the overhead compartments!
