Insignia stuck in NYC

Jose has trapped the Insignia in Manhattan (along with the Silver Whisper and Aida Diva) - anyone have any information about when they might get out?

The NHC forecast shows Jose to be nearly stationary so it could be a while - I wonder what the cruise lines will do?

Just like they did for Harvey,the ships stay out of harms way. In the case of Jose it seems the ships in NYC are painted in a corner. Having experienced 75 knot winds and 36 ft seas in the Drake Passage on our Antarctic cruise, in 2010, I'd rather stay in port and go to a Broadway show.

Whisper sailed for Halifax at 9, Insignia rumoured to be staying put.

Passage weather looks bearable hugging the coast...

Looks like they will be leaving today going to Boston and skipping Newport. I can't tell but it may have come into New York a day late? I am on the next cruise coming back from Montreal so hopefully there are no other hurricanes coming that could mess up the next itinerary.

They actually returned to NYC a a day and a half early. We were docked two nights prior to disembarkation yesterday.

We experienced no storm effects. Everyone agreed it was prudent to take shelter in NYC.

There are worse places ... at least passengers have LOTS of choices about what to do while "stuck in port"!

Can be far cheaper on O than staying in a hotel and dining out, too.

Exactly. Plus you're already midtown, albeit very far west! That's why they have cabs and uber here ... Even as a NYC resident I wouldn't object to that kind of unexpected port of call!

Would guess that the vast majority of those on board managed to stay busy here.
