Book on line only via official website and do the escorted Behind the Scenes Tour it takes you places not accessible to genera admission guests, likes the former court rooms and cells leading over the bridges of sighs to the final CHOP !!!! Really blood curdling - Doge justice was quick and swift !!!

we are considering a tour of the Doge's Palace, and on that same day. Our cruise starts on the MSC Musica. How long does a tour last. Thank you.

Depend what tour. We had "Secret itinerary" tour took about 3 hours . Don't forget its very crowded in Venice and you can not walk fast on streets .

Are you looking at the Secret Itineraries Tour? If so, it takes one hour, 15 minutes. Information can be found here: http://palazzoducale.visitmuve.it/en/pianifica-la-tua-visita/special-itineraries/secret-itineraries-tour/

Yes but leave extra time to find your way out of the place. It’s not that easy (or maybe we’re just hopeless lol)

I just visited with my son and we did a self-guided tour; we were there for about 2 hours.

It's not necessary to take the Secret Itinerary tour to see the highlights of the Palace (in fact, that tour doesn't really cover the highlights, so you have to spend extra time on your own if you want to go back and see some of the stunningly decorated public areas).

Also, you can walk over the Bridge of Sighs and see some of the prison cells without being on the Secret Itineraries tour. Just FYI, as I think some people don't realize this.

I totally agree, lol! My husband and I got separated and I swear I crossed the Bridge of Sighs a dozen times looking for him and trying to find my way out! It was a total maze! Beautiful, though.
