Sideways cabins: Any differences?

We always book inside cabins and whenever possible, chose a sidways cabin. Cabins are laid out differently and appear to have more space. The bathrooms are definitely bigger. If you're going with inside - take a sideways for sure!

No hallway as you enter the center of the room . Beds to one side ,bathroom to the other side .

It make's the room feel bigger .

The Ship rocks you side to side in bed ( Like in a cradle ) instead of head to toe .

Some ocean views get 2 windows one on each end .

The following YT tube is from the Pearl's obstructed OV sideway cabins - with the famous lifeboat view outside. Some of the ships are getting blackout windows so you might not see much, if anything - last time we sailed the GEM was 2012 and they're not, a lot can changed between your booking & sailing dates. The Jewel, Gem and even the Dawn are related & have very similiar if not identical square footage & typical layout.

This is from the Sun - also sideway, INSIDE cabin - with a (convertible ??) sofa to sleep 3, actually, well nicie layout & "appeared" very roomy.

For comparison, YT has other similar regular cabins - just click & play to see for yourselves. Of course, the accessible ones for those with special needs are generally not assigned unless ... (and, yes, they are bigger for obvious reasons)

2 Windows in an OV! I never saw that before. Do you know the cabin numbers?

We had a sideways inside on the Sky and I thought the biggest advantage was being on a hallway with only 4 cabins. We've never had it so quiet. The amount of hallway noise was virtually nonexistent.

I disagree with our first statement, our inside on Jade's bathroom was just about the same size as our balcony bathroom on Jade and Gem on subsequent cruises except it did not have a door for the toilet compartment...so rather than a three compartment set up, there were only two compartments. Agree completely with your second statement except for the premium insides on Sun...really big cabins with tons of storage.

The short hallway isn't always the case with insides.

No, I don't imagine it is. But a quick glance at a deck plan will confirm. Ours was well forward. A midship sideways inside cabin would likely have more neighbors and could be close to ther noisy attractions like elevators.

But if you're looking for quiet, you can't beat a short corridor and everything on our hall was sideways and inside.
