 Please do not reserve deck chair with a towel

This is bad practice and should not be tolerated !!!!!!!!!

If you see this - pickup towel(s) up and put in proper place - cleaning bin/etc.

this practice of removing the towels will give the REST of US a chance at a place to sit down.

I pick up towels after breakfast and do this on EVERY cruise - If more people would also do this - this problem would go away for GOOD.

thanks

:o I agree with Tea Baggers - put towel in bin.

I reallllllllllllllllllly get frustrated myself walking deck looking for a place to sit down and see alot of towels present with no one around.

I understand that one has to eat - but please be considerate and give the rest of US a chance.

I too have seen towels put out in morning for use later. We use to have that problem for parades in our town with lawn chairs - NOW outlawed for that practice.

Best to take stroll in morning after breakfast and MAKE a point to remove these TOWELS - it benefits us all to do THAT - and maybe- maybe it will get thru to them that someone is WATCHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We all pay for our cruise - at least some of us (not counting the "grease the wheels" in other post who get free cruises THRU complaining, etc. - WE are all entitled to a little chair time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hear that NCL - DO something for your PAYING passengers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Police the deck chairs

thanks

Celebrity is fabulous about this. Last year on the Summit I was in the pool and had my stuff on my chair. The pool police perused it and I motioned to him that it was mine and I was in the pool. Big smile and big wave and on he went.

Last March we noticed someone had staked out a table and 4 chairs by the pool and left their gear on it all day while they were on tour. Didn't bother me because we were at our own table and most of the ship had gone off, but..... A lot of people are selfish.

What would you do if there were shoes and a tote on the chair? I'm just curious.

and sit down - been there and done it more than once.

I pay full fare - no discount credit pts, etc. - so I believe that I have a RIGHT to do that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For those of you that insist on reserving the chairs - BAAAAAAAAAAAAAD practice - its time that the majority of US take it back from the minority that seem to persist their bad pricties on the rest of US.

I will not take it anymore.

At least I put the items next to the chair.

I've saw a couple last trip actually put the items in the trash barrel !!!!!!!!

I'm not saying that was good or bad - it's up to you to decide - that couple enjoyed their chairs and the rest of us just looked on with amazement but kinda smiled a bit!

something to think about

best regards

I think it is only reasonable that if you want to reserve a deck chair while you are swimming, you should take it into the pool with you. If you want to reserve a deck chair while you are taking your third trip through the buffet line, tuck the deck chair under your arm. If you want to reserve a deck chair while you take a time out from sunning to go play in the Blackjack Tournament, take the deck chair to the casino.

It's just common etiquette, folks.

Pool towels - never seen a charge for them.

Normally white with blue stripe on them

I believe you might be thinking about those from the room with the cruise line logo on them.

Not sure about NCL but other cruise lines will charge you 25.00 if your towel is not returned. So if you remove a couples towels they could also be out 50.00. Just saying.:)

I am an early riser. I love getting up in the morning, grabbing a cup of coffee and a danish and sitting by the pool watching the chair hogs trying to get their prime spots. On Celebrity, I then watch in great humor as the pool attendants remove all the items after a certain period of time.

BTW, If you do leave your chair for a brief time (rest room, pool, etc.), just inform the person in the chair next to you. I have always found that they would keep the pool attendant informed.

Lose one once and you'll see the charge! Pool towels are left in your cabin (blue & white striped) and you will be charged $25.00 if you don't still have them at the end of the cruise.

 im confused

NCL puts those towels there for us to use,in fact i like NCL the best because they also always put out sunglasses, books, flip flops, and other stuff thats complementary for us. its all included in the cruise fare, read the contract

I believe that reserving a chair or table is wrong and should not be done but I also believe it is not right that you just walk up to a chair or table with a towel or someones belongings, remove them and call it for yourself. I don't think it is fair for the person that is sitting alone and maybe gets hot and wants to just jump in the pool for a couple minutes to cool off or needs to go to the bathroom then returns to find his towel and chair taken and then subsequently charged for it just because someone feels the need to get back for all the people that do the wrong thing at the expense of innocent. On RCL you check out pool towels with your sea pass and return them the same way. And just for the record we do not reserve my chair.

I'm surprised that people who leave their towels (chairs) unattended for a long period of time, are not concerned their towels will be gone. It is my understanding that if you do not return those towels you will be charged $25. Maybe it's different if you are in a Suite. I've never been given sunglasses, flip flops etc?

Or maybe if a towel is missing, they just 'take' someone else's towel..... crazy!!

Chair police need to be more attnetive and watch for chair hogs. There should a limit of time you can leave your towel to reserve a chair.

I would not be above moving someone's towel if I noticed no one was there for more than 30 minutes.

I've never understood this either.

If you're swimming, you're not sitting on a deck chair.

Same as, if you're in the library reading a book....you shouldn't have a table reserved at the buffet.

You can only do 1 thing at a time.

This picture is from 6:30 AM, yes 6:30 AM:confused: on one of our sea days. Who the heck wakes up and reserves a seat with a towel before 6:30 AM???. I was standing on deck with another guy for about 15 minutes as we watched in amazement as one sleepy cruiser after another tried to make their claim. Nobody from NCL seemed to mind. We did though.......... and we picked up about 20 towels and returned them to the bin:D. We did not move any personal things like books, sunglasses or iPod.........yes, someone left an iPod on top of a towel. Those of you on the Gem 6-16-12 cruise...........I'm an early riser, you have been warned;)

We were on the Dawn last September and never had a problem with chairs. There were always 2 available for us no matter what time we went to the pool. I don't see a problem with leaving the towels on the chair if you are just going in the pool, after all isn't that what it's there for. Cool down take a swim, why should you give up your chair.

never had a prob with the chairs either and yes i do leave something on mine when i get up to go to the restroom or get a drink or get something to eat etc and depending where i have to go i come back and its still there--never gone longer than a half hr...i was on the SUN 2 weeks last month and this was never a prob (reserving of chairs) course i am NOT the Chair Hog Police either--have BETTER things to do then watch the chair situation!

I agree with this approach - we've done the same at hotels, etc. when we've noticed people attempting to reserve chairs while they're nowhere near the pool. I won't move someone's personal items, but if I arrive at the pool and there are no chairs available, and I notice after 20-30 minutes that certain chairs have been "reserved" but the claimants are nowhere around, I'll move those towels and claim it for myself.

On a trip to Hawaii last summer, someone confronted my husband at the Marriott on Kauai and accused him of moving their towels. His response: "I don't know what you're talking about." I was the one who had moved their towels, after watching from the pool with my daughter for 45 minutes and realizing that no one was actually there. :)

Nice! :)

This whole thread is pretty funny. I guess we haven't had a good "chair hog" thread in a while and people think maybe it hasn't been discussed to death. Folks, NCL already has a policy in place against chair hogging, it just needs to be enforced.

Not a big poster; however - I have seen my share of chair HOG'S at many different Cruise Ships and Resorts throughout the Country. One trip every morning I observed one Lady reserve two chairs each in the shade and the sun.

She and her partner played musical chairs though the remainder of the day. several hours would elapse with no occupation in either chair. Really is this approiate? Sometime; I only would like to have a chair for twenty minutes - could I just borrow the chair?

Soon on the Epic.........

KNATION

I think that the chair hog problem is exacerbated by a large group of lazyass (yeah I said it) passengers who can't be bothered to find a dirty towel bin when they are done at the pool and just leave their used towels laying around when they leave the pool area completely. Meanwhile, Johnny Stopwatch is watching that towel.....just waiting for the 60 minute mark.... seriously, people. Just clean up after yourselves! Stop the madness.

This isn't just on cruise ships. I've been to several of indoor/outdoor waterparks and hotel/resort pools in the last year and have seen some pretty incredible stuff.
