Hi All! We just made final payment today on our March 17 cruise. I am wondering about travel protection, primarily to cover medical expenses if someone should become ill! I am wondering if anyone knows of a policy that is primarily for that purpose? we live very close to our port so I'm not concerned about flight delays etc. I appreciate any tips! Looking for a good price obviously! I've never purchased anything like this in 10 cruises but after hearing of people becoming sick or worse, I'm thinking about it

There is board dedicated to Cruise/Travel Insurance on CC here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=635

For SOME policies to obtain the pre-condition waiver they must be purchased with a certain time of booking/ nonrefundable deposit or other condition so good that you are not waiting to get the info you want.

Get ideas from the experts on that board then I suggest that with knowledge you speak with a licensed agent. You really want to know what you are buying and how it applies to you and your situation and what you want. No sense buying insurance if what you want covered is not or only minimally. There are a couple of good online sellers too with great info on their websites. They will be pointed out to you on that board and sometimes respond directly to questions

American Express is now offering travel insurance Ala Carte in that you can buy just the part you need

Also Check with your homeowners insurance they may offer a good price. I used USAA a couple of times but the last time they were high.

Yes, comprehensive trip insurance is much more expensive than medical only policies. I was able to get a medical only policy from geoblue for 2 weeks with a $0 deductible and a million dollar limit for $30
