... Also, rumor has it there are slot tournaments.......how do they work? Tx.

You pay an extra fee, usually $10, either cash at the casino cashier or charged to your shipboard account. You're assigned which round, sometimes which machine or sometimes you can choose machine. The machine is set for a certain number of minutes, usually 3 or 5, and doesn't take money. You hit the spin button as often as possible during the time and rack up as many points [credits] as possible.

The person with highest points advances to another round later or, it might be set up that they put highest names on a board. At any rate, the people, usually top 3, with highest number of points win. Prize is usually cash and often a Tshirt and bottle of champagne.

The winner on our last cruise received $3,000.00 plus a cruise for 2

I won the slot tournament on the Caribbean Princess in December. Won $500, a t-shirt and a bag. Nice price for $20.00 buy in. I've never seen a slot tournament (or blackjack for that matter) give a free cruise on Carnival ships I've been one. But would love to win a free cruise.

My absolute favorite are the Zeus machines. Of course, like many of you, this is bc, one time, I got 5 lightening bolts, which means 100 free spins!!

I'm not sure if these machines are on any of the cruise ships, though.

Norwegian Jade had some in May 2009 - hope they are still there next June!

I'm going on my first NCL Jewel cruise and I only play slot machines. Does anyone know what type of slots are on the NCL Jewel? My favorite slot machine is jackpot party or the village people.

If you join a slot tournament, do pay for each round or does the $20 join up fee cover the whole thing - if you're lucky enough to make to to the next round? About how many rounds are in each tournament?

I've been reading about video poker machines on this site - are they only quarter machines?

Thanks for any info.

Played slot tournaments last on the NCL Jewel and Dawn. On the Dawn my DD made it to the final round and then lost (won a bottle of champagne instead of several hundred dollars).

The slot tournaments will be announced in your dailies. You go register, pay your fee ($20-25). When it is time for the tournament you are placed in a round and given a number which goes on top of your machines. Generally you have 5 minutes to just keep hitting the button. There is nothing but luck involved.

If you place first they you will go onto the finals. You can enter as many times as you want. Beware, if you are playing with a friend do not play the same round - you are playing against each other.

It is a lot of fun and somebody has to win.:p

Thanks, I never thought about that.:o The wife and I play at the same time, now I'll have to explain to her how we can double our chances of winning and I'll look like a genius:D

Just got off the Jewel and I have a few tips. Payouts were mighty slim at max bet. Did better one or two lower. Best machines were the Tiki Torch and the Aztec machine right next to it directly in front of the bar. Between the two I won 2500. I found the best action on these machines betting 200 to 500 credits. They are 2 cent machines. On the Aztec machine I hit five wilds for 52 free spins with max bet.

I too like quick hits but on the Jewel they were really tight. Sucked my dollars as fast as I put them in. Very rare to win with more than 4 quickhits. The 15,000 jackpot was mighty tempting however and kept me trying them.

i dont know if it counts as a slot but the quarter rake/push game is a real kick in the pants. outside of that i have fav slots for different reasons. if i want to play and maybe win, i go for a machine with a jackpot, if i want to play for fun i play games with free spins and sticky wilds. all depends but at any rate i prefer penny slots. regular reel slots put me to sleep. probably my ADD...

I love slot machines. Do anyone know if they have the Golden Monkey penny machines on the Millenium, which we will be on in August. I also heard that they were a lot of fun. We are going to Atlantic City in two weeks and I hope to find them there. Thanks

I like Cleopatra best .There are now 4 screen Cleopatra's in an Indian Casino nearby I won twice on that one........ 4 screens for 4 chances to get something

Mr Lucky's Chinese take-out is very funny .listen to his comments Cracked me up for hours

I won close to 500$ on Happy Camper on Valor ...Bonus is cute the bear walks on screen makes spots wild ....made my machine go WHACKO ...loved it ...I hit a jackpot

Most machines are truly BANDITS they take a lot give little back

The WORST machines are on Princess ...never won anything on any :( :( :(

Most machines are SUPER tight

My favorite slots are Double Triple Diamond deluxe with cheese (its a quarter machine) and Lucky Lemmings (a penny machine)

Double triple ... is the slot that has the waitress on the third wheel and if you are playing max bet and she comes up you get to roll the dice and move your way along a hamburger on the upright part of the machine. I have made it all the way to the top and won 1320.00 on a 20.00 bill.

Lucky lemmings is a fun penny machine you can play for hours and not spend a lot if you don't want to. My husband ended up playing it on our last cruise and made enough to cover his portion of our on board charges with out spending a lot of money.
