Why would a person over 50 want to cruise on carnival?

Since when did age have to do with a cruiseline...or anything for that matter. My aunt will be 70 in a few months and just went on the Imagination with my mother (64). I didn't hear them complain.

 

Age is just a number that lets people know what year you were born...it doesn't represent what a person enjoys, is capable of doing, dresses like, acts like, etc.

 

Heck, the CEO of my company was born in 1918 and is still going strong. We have never heard him say he'd like to retire because of his age.

I just have to say that I LOVE this thread! I find nothing offensive about it at ALL!:confused: It's great to see all the stories of people who the "younger" generation might think are too old to "have any fun"! MY kids are 18, 20, and 22...they think i'm "kinda old"! :rolleyes::D

Thanks for the great responses, you guys are amazing. I'd love to cruise with any of you! :p

Our kids are driving us crazy with question, "you're cruising again", "why do you like it so much", "isn't it expensive", "didn't you just come back from one?"

We cruise twice a year but I could do it more often but I work a full-time job and don't have that much vacation time! I sock-away money each month that goes toward our "cruising time!" But, now I'm starting to feel guilty about it! :(

I know, I know......They're grown-ups, they can take care of themselves....It's that "guilt" thing, it's driving me nuts!

Heck, we're in our 50's, not dead! :D DH and I love cruising on Carnival. We've tried RCI but found ourselves bored at times.

 

We are never bored on Carnival! There is always something to do! The shows are good, bars are plentiful, karaoke is a blast, the piano bar is (usually) a lot of fun! We like the activities and contests (even though we've discovered we're really awful at trivia), the casino is fun, we play an occasional game of Bingo, and we find the food is usually very good.

 

We're hoping to celebrate our 35th anniversary in April on the Miracle. We may need a miracle to make it happen as we just discovered our house needs a new roof. :( But, that's o.k. We'll just wait and find another reason to celebrate later in the year or wait until our 36th anniversary. Either way, our next cruise will definitely be on Carnival!

My problem with age is, I still think I in my 20's. Then I go to do something and my body reminds me I'm in my 50's. So mentally I am Carnival's target audience. Physically I may be more Holland America's demographic.;)

 

But I don't care. Until they "declare" me, I am going to do what I enjoy.

I love Carnival and the "party atmosphere" when you're with the right people and that seems to the be the one's over 50!!! They know how to party!! My cruise in Jan '09 was on NCL - the party was off/on - we (my cousin and I) were told by many that we were their idols - since we were having such a great time from the time we got up in the morning until we went to bed in the morning!! sometimes we started the parties!

 

This coming Jan we are sailing on Carnival Conquest (yeah) and I can already know- this is going to be the best cruise ever! Oh and by the way I'm 55, cousin is 64 and her mom who travels with us and loves to have a great time is 85!

No, I wasn't being sarcastic. For the OP to assume that people over 50 are the walking dead is not only sad and limiting, but is insulting.

 

And then everyone over 50 feels compelled to take up the banner and explain that not everyone over 50 is taking the early-bird special and in bed by 6:00 pm. Why justify? Why defend? It was a stupid question from the OP to begin with.

"GUILT"? Sounds like a good reason to me to book another cruise! "The Guilt Cruise"!;) Know that will make you feel better.:D Hey your four legged baby deserves to relax and lay in the sun. Hey here is one for you. Cruising gives your service dog more exposure to 50+ crowds who are fun loving, crazy dancing, fine folks.
