The solarium was remodeled a bit, I personally liked it before.. Now it is uncovered.

Pools were fixed up and painted.

Main Deck flooring was redone in a faux wood which looks really nice. Some carpets in the halls were replaced.

Still lots of peeling paint and dirty windows.. but nothing that stopped me from enjoying the trip!

Jimmy was our CD on Monarch in Sept. On Captain's Night we were sitting in the theater waiting as passengers were filing in when he passed us and saw my husband without a drink. I had one already but my husband was waiting for the servers to come back around with a full selection. He asked what my husband wanted and actually came back and delivered it in person.

Now that is great customer service!

He speaks very quickly and was extremely hard to understand.

I wholeheartedly agree. I just stepped off the Explorer this morning and although I was sad about the cruise being over, I was happy that I wouldn't have to listen to Jimmy Rhodes anymore. He didn't seem to have a relaxed, conversational way of speaking. Those who were travelling with me felt the exact same way. We didn't like him from Day 1, but wanted to give him a chance. We thought that maybe we were biased because we had Dave Chapman 2 times before and absolutely loved him. We all soon realized that we were right from the beginning. Also, as far as Mr. Rhodes being friendly & outgoing with passengers, I didn't see it at all. My father & I encountered him on three seperate occasions, and all three times we were completely ignored. We didn't even get so much as a wave or a smile. Mr. Rhodes was not in a hurry on any of these occasions, and could have acknowledged us in some way.

Did you attend the Quest game two nights ago in which a 10 year old boy was allowed to participate? Dancing around during the finale in a bra? I thought it was really inappropriate and feel Jimmy Rhodes was responsible for allowing it to happen.

I don't know anything about Jimmy Rhodes and how good or bad a cruise director he is but my first thought on reading that was, where were the 10 year old boy's parents?

Tony, did you just get off the Explorer?

As much as I have liked Jimmy Rhodes in the past, I agree that this is a serious dereliction of his duty.

Yes, just off on Friday morning. He moderated the show therefore he is responsible. I was sure to take some pictures with the thought of forwarding them to Miami. He stated at the CC meeting that he reads these boards so maybe he can chime in and explain why this was allowed to take place.

I did attend The Quest that you are talking about, and I feel the same way. On the last two cruises I took, I also attended the Quest, and it was ALWAYS stressed that it was for ADULTS ONLY!!! I re-read the Cruise Compass for the day, and it states on the front page "Adults Only". I have a 12 year old niece, and although she is very mature for her age, I would not want her at this show, doing anything the equivalent of what this boy was doing. Maybe things are different in Canada(where the boy said he was from), but even so, this show was for adults, not children. What's next, letting kids belly up to the bar? Letting kids gamble in the casino? I know I am exaggerating a bit, but think about it. "Adults Only" means adults only. I agree that Jimmy Rhodes, as CD, is ultimately responsible for this boy being involved. I think that this type of show can appeal to everyone, so there should be a family-friendly version, so that issues like this can be avoided.

Sailed with Jimmy Rhodes during an inaugural sailing of the Quantum, liked his personality, but I have to agree with others, he did talk fast, but my daughter does also, so I guess I'm used to it.

Agreed, we were on an inaugural Quantum sailing as well (Dec. 2014) and found him to be less than special. It was almost like he wasn't hardly there. Maybe busy due to the new class + ship? Dunno. Maybe he's upped his game?

That's why I know the name! He must've been our CD on Quantum March 2015.

Yikes! - this is an OLD one.

I thought Jimmy was decent when I had him on Oasis in 2014. Truthfully, the CD has little effect on Oasis Class, but I found him reasonably entertaining, personable and I liked 'How u Cruisin?'.

Joff and Abe are my favourites, but I would have no problem finding out Jimmy was the CD on a future cruise.
