tcha Posted March 12, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 12, 2010 I have been checking my personalizer every day to see if I have been assigned a cabin. (Nope) While I look, I also check the available cabins. There are so many. Is there a chance that Princess would cancel the cruise? Should I call to see if I could get an upgrade(paying for the current price point) ? I'm new to Princess but on Carnival, I have always been able to upgrade to a balcony fairly reasonably. Thanks all !!
grandmaa Posted March 13, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 13, 2010 It is Passover week and Easter..those might be contributing factors..who knows??
DrivesLikeMario Posted March 13, 2010 #3 Share Posted March 13, 2010 No chance of it being cancelled unless something catastrophic happens. It was the same way with our Christmas sailing on the CB, then it filled up at the end.
Rare Coral Posted March 13, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 13, 2010 I got an email for the Caribbean Princess for $299 and balconies for $549 for 3/21. Pretty darn cheap!
Colo Cruiser Posted March 13, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 13, 2010 Its hard to sell cruises from SJ partly due to the airfare. No chance of a cancelation.
tcha Posted March 13, 2010 Author #6 Share Posted March 13, 2010 Thanks for responding. Wow! and I thought we got a good deal!! Yes, the airfare was expensive, but our other choice was the Carnival Pride out of Baltimore... we could drive there but for $300 more we decided to go with Princess and the S. Carib. Kinda better than Port Canaveral and Nassau. (No offense to anyone. We have just been there a few times.) Soooo... wonder if Princess would sell me an upgrade????
C&F Posted March 13, 2010 #7 Share Posted March 13, 2010 The Flash promotions will sell alot more of those cabins in the next few weeks. You won't have the ship to yourself. Enjoy your cruise (even if it is empty), Freddie
tcha Posted March 13, 2010 Author #8 Share Posted March 13, 2010 Thanks, Freddie. I hope you enjoy Your cruise in July. One day I'd like to cruise from NYC. It must be amazing!
tinatark Posted March 13, 2010 #9 Share Posted March 13, 2010 Our 4/3 Crown W. Caribbean from FLL isn't full, either - we've cruised this week every year for the past 4-5 years, and this is the lowest year yet. We got an unbelievably low rate. Wow, those are incredible prices. I don't receive emails from Princess regarding sales like these although I do get alot of promos through the mail. I guess there is a way on their site to set up getting email promos? I'll have to check it out.

London, Canada Posted March 13, 2010 #13 Share Posted March 13, 2010 One year we were on a Royal Cruise and they did not sell the ship anywhere near full...found out that they were selling cabins (inside) for $299./person. Advertising in SJ newspaper and everyone received an upgrade...we got a large balcony room, but we already had a balcony room... Hopefully you get an upgrade and don't mind listening to the announcements in English and then Spanish....I am used to English then French, being from Canada. I'll have to check it out. Those ARE incredible prices for the cruise. Now, go check out prices for flights to SJU (San Juan). Booked my air for $674 for 2 about 5 weeks ago. It's since ballooned up to $1,258 for the same exact flight itinerary.
tcha Posted March 13, 2010 Author #17 Share Posted March 13, 2010 Well, I just hope there's some action in the casino! I LOVE craps..even though I only play a little. It is so fun and exciting. See you there Jersey!
tcha Posted March 13, 2010 Author #18 Share Posted March 13, 2010 YIKES!!! We booked flights last week from Dulles for $635 each. Sure glad we didn't wait. The savings for the cruise would have been eaten up by the airline!!

tcha Posted March 13, 2010 Author #22 Share Posted March 13, 2010 Paul, I'll bet that's it! They'll probably do the assigning and all the cabins will fill up. Didn't consider that so many others would choose GTY cabins. A+ for you!:)
BruceMuzz Posted March 13, 2010 #23 Share Posted March 13, 2010 If Princess thought that the ship would not sell out, they would have already assigned your guarantee cabin. But they know better. Their yield department has a long sales history in San Juan. April is the low season in Puerto Rico. Not enough snow birds willing to fly down so late in the season. So the cruise lines fill their ships with locals for a few weeks. Princess is currently advertising 7 day cruises from San Juan (in the local San Juan newspapers) for $179. Balcony cabins for the same cruise are $229. You can be sure that the locals will snap up all available cabins just a few days before sailing. How is your Spanish? tcha Posted March 13, 2010 Author #24 Share Posted March 13, 2010 Now why doesn't that happen with cruises from Norfolk? My Spanish is so so but I do love the diversity on board a cruise from San Juan. Perhaps I'll call Princess and try to fake a Spanish accent to upgrade to a balcony. All kidding aside, I love that the locals have the opportunity to join the sailing!
Shelbyjane56 Posted March 13, 2010 #25 Share Posted March 13, 2010 Ive tried to find some who are sailing on the dream July 17 but so far have not had one person say they are sailing on that date!
