I really want to know

I believe this thread just went to the top of my list. Imagine, a bunch of people who can't be bothered with topics that bother them, complaining about the people who post such topics.

Unbelievable!:eek:

Happy cruising to all!

Bob

Much better to vent a little on a seperate thread and not be rude to the poster of often asked questions.

I just don't understand the ones that start a new thread on a topic that is on the first or second page already. It's not that hard to scan through a few pages before you post.

The ones that I really have to avoid are the "has anyone ever........", there has got to be a better way to ask those questions.

I am from the East Coast and when you research the temps for S.California, it doesn't tell you that May grey and June gloom. I did find out that information on this site but too late, I had already booked before someone else asked and I had a very grey cruise.

Consequently, when I asked about New Orleans in January, I thought I remember someone mentioning that January is the worst cold weather month. You can research averge temperatures but you don't get the nitty gritty that you can get by answering questions on this site.

Yes, I'm tired of hearing which cruise would I like with any information about the person asking, I tired of smuggling booze and not smuggling booze.

I thought this was a site to get and give info. Aren't you being harsh to the newbies? We were all new once. At least they're coming on before the cruise to ask questions and not just complaining after the cruise because they didn't research.

Passport do I need one?

Trip insurance is it neccessary?

I hope we never have to hear the story of some poor soul

(schm-ck) stuck in port that needs medical assistance or even worse medical evacuation..and when they ask him or her for their passport they think gee maybe I should have listened to all those wonderful people on the CCL board.

ignorance is bliss!

I think if someone is used to reading a message board, they may take it for granted that other people logging into that message board are computer-savvy. Alot of people coming here asking redundant questions probably don't know how to navigate a website too well, let alone how to "search". At least that's what I tell myself when my dad posts odd comments to my facebook page. :)

How big is a 10 by 10 cooler? Sorry if the measurements are wrong but you get the drift to the infamous thread that I am referring to:p

Kim

I LOVE that thread! I actually referenced my 12x12x12 cooler in my review a few times.

My least favorite topic is the "sewer smells" and "chair hogs" and "kids in the hottubs".

One of my favorites was the thread talking about stair sitters and the remedy being to step on their hands and/or spilling tomato juice on the offending party.

1. Is 2 am too late of a curfew for my 13yo?

2. DH wants to be alone with me so is it ok to put a 6 and 7 yo in a room by themselves across the hall?

3. My ex won't let me have our child for the week so that we can take our cruise even though it is his/her week with them but when we asked 2 years ago my ex said it would be ok but now has changed his/her mind and we are supposed to leave for a 14 hour car ride to the port this weekend.

"I have an Early Saver Question"

"Is SupperClub worth it"

'My baby is not potty trained, can they still swim in the pool in a diaper'

and

"Im taking my kids out of school to cruise, I dont care what you think"

threads from a few years ago.

The ones that amaze me are those where people ask strangers on a cruise board questions that should be addressed to their lawyer/doctor/psychiatrist/marriage counselor/ or all of these and more LOL

It can be funny but also disturbing...like when people ask if they or a loved one "can" or "should" cruise with various medical conditions, or the "legal" stuff..(will they be picked up on a warrant?)

~~~~~~~
I also get a kick out of the "has anyone ever" and the other inadequate and confusing thread titles
Instead of asking a question/giving details in the title of the thread (ie, Which ships have the Serenity Upgrade? or whatever)
people will post "I have a question"...or "Just wondering" or whatever whatever LOL
Ahhh, I don't know. It depends on how the question is asked.
Wrong: "What is good to do in Jamaica?"
This kind of question gets no play from me even though I have been there several times.
Right: "Hey all I am new to this cruising and will be going on our first cruise on xx/xx/xxx. I was hoping you could answer a few questions for me about Jamaica. I have done some research and this is what I plan on doing...... What do you think?"
This will always get a reply from me.
What is annoying is the questions about parenting. If you have to ask then the answer is 'NO!' For the love of God don't put your diaper baby in the pool or jacuzz. That is just NASTY:eek:
Anyway, if I get to a thread were a nOOb asked a question I will answer it if it hasn't been answered already. We were all nOObs once and that is certainly why I came here. I have answered a million Conquest questions and look forward to answering a million more. It is the common sense questions that are annoying.
That one cracked me up.
I thought "Wheres the Upgrade Ferry going"
Is this a new parking option?
Takes you, car and all right to the ship...?
In a lot of ways that is more sad than funny. It just shows how little emphasis is put on correct spelling and grammar today. This is what we get from letting kids use "inventive spelling" which I objected to when my kids were in school. I saw that thread too and had to stop myself from commenting on the spelling and incorrect use of the word.
I also love when people want to know how much others have won in the casino and on what ship, like thats going to mean they'll win too.
I don't hate questions that are asked at all even if i have seen them many times before. Its the wisea-- comments that people give....like the search option is to the top right use it.....and so on! I try to help anyone no matter how stupid the question may sound...thats what we are here for!
People that haven't read Laura's sticky note http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1207555
Posters that say "I could care less" which means that they still care a little. The term is "I couldn't care less".
Someone quoting a twenty paragraph review, just to say they enjoyed it.
Being rude to a poster telling them to use the search function instead of asking the question. Half of the time the search engine doesn't work and the other half it gives you information that's not true any more. Things change constantly and most people want to know current information.
Telling future cruisers to get a cabin in the bottom, middle of the ship to avoid ship's movement. That's fine if they never leave their cabin. They will encounter movement if they go up on the Lido deck, eat in the dining rooms, go to the theatre, etc.
More than five people giving the same answer to a question. There's no need for twenty people to say the same thing.
I agree that the "Is it worth it to....." questions bug me to death. We have no idea what your financial situation is, etc. How the heck are we supposed to advise a complete stranger on that?
It also drives me nuts when someone quotes a huge post (some with 5 or so pictures in them) when they don't need to.
Most of the time, when topics start to bug me I realize I have been on here too much recently.
1. How can we sneak booze in our luggage?
2. Lets talk about chair hogs again.
3. Can you predict the future? (Usually about anything in the FUTURE)
I am fairly new on here, however I do try and search for my topics before I post. However, sometimes, it does not directly answer what you are looking for. The three I listed are over and over and over again. :(
