I have read several of these post and I have a question. Is this OBC given to only current and retired Military or any Ex Military?

Hi All,

I was, just this week, notified by Princess that the 250.00 Military OBC was applied to my shipboard account. My military history is that I was drafted in 1963, served two years active duty as well as some active reserve duty. I was officially discharged from the Army in 1969. Because I had two years active duty I was eligible for the on board credit.

Just a note... Iwas required to send my DD214 discharge paper, my booking information and a photo ID... I faxed both a copy of my passport and my driver's license. It took about a week for the response to come to me.

I hope this answers your question.

Cheers,

Dave

Thanks for everyone's advice here, I emailed a copy of DH's retired military ID card along with my booking number, ship name, and sailing date and the OBC is showing up in less than a week on the final payment documents I received yesterday.

Thanks to the info we gathered here, we emailed my husband's DD214 and ID card--with ssn blacked out, plus the required info as to booking numbers, etc., and the OBC showed up on our booking accounts very quickly. It took a couple of days to show up on our 11/10 sailing, and about a week to show up on our 11/11 sailing-which surprised me as we have not made final payment on that one....it's not due till 9/11. Thank you CC posts and Princess!! :):)

When I received my military OBC I learned that it cannot be used in the casino or for gratuities. Some posters on other threads have opined that the ship' computer will not be able to separate these charges. I believe that they can. Folks who are cruising soon please report back on whether these OBC's are actually restricted in practice.

My husband just applied for this onboard credit.

One option: have been in a war zone for 6 months.

Another option: Have 2 years or more in the military with an honorable discharge. This ALSO includes the reserves.

You must send in this information for EACH cruise you are booked for.

We just did that this week and they said it takes about a week to process.

Send a copy of your DD214 AND a picture ID to:

FAX to: 661-753-0151

Just to answer my own post.

I have had a reply from Princess to tell me that they do not give OBC to British Military.

Just one more way to push us away from the brand!

For one who served with many Brit counterparts in Afghanistan, I am ashamed of Princess not recognizing UK Soldiers, Airmen, Saliors and Marines. From one US Vet - I for one would sail with any one of you!

Thank you.

For what it's worth, I think that most people here would want us to get it, but I think the corporate people in Princess don't see enough free advertising and headlines by giving it to us. In the US it seems that you show support for your troops in a more obvious manner. And people will use companies that openly support the troops. People may not support certain wars, but most support the troops knowing they don't choose them.

More power to you Americans that through purchasing power can make companies see real benefits to giving things like OBC.

I am serious in my earlier quote about saving to buy stock and trying to get my voice heard. I might even consider just writing a lettre to the CEO and showing my disappointment.

Good luck to all of you who have had this. It is well deserved.

Matthew

I just talked to the Travel Agent Desk at Princess. They also gave me an email address, if you would rather scan and email your information. The email address is shareholderbenefit@princesscruises.com. She did tell me that a picture ID was also required.

Yes, it is not a discount but and OBC. This email you posted is correct. I emailed a DD214 and Photo ID along with the booking number, ship and sailing dates.

My TA said it is for

Current military

Retired military after 20 yrs

Medically retired

Disabled military

Vet with honorary discharge

Vet with 2 yrs service or 6 months in active war zone.

I faxed in a copy of my active duty ID card and my booking number, ship and sailing date (September 2011!) about a week and a half ago, and got my email confirmation that my OBC is now in my account. What great service!

I wanted to thank everyone that posted on this thread about the Military OBC. I just faxed in all my paperwork a few minutes ago and will be anxiously awaiting confirmation that the credit was granted. I will let you know whenever I hear anything. Thanks again. Tim:)

Sent an email yesterday afternoon with our names, Princess #, ship, date of cruise and booking number. Attached a copy of my DH's ID card. He retired with 4 yrs active and 37 reserve in the Coast Guard. Just got home from dinner and there was a nice note from Liza McDaniel confirming our $250 onboard credit for our 14 day cruise. Nice benefit and didn't have to buy stock to get it.

If you want to do it as an email, you will need to be able to scan in or take a photo of your ID or discharge papers and include as an attachment. Be sure to also include your telephone # just in case they need to contact you.

Here is the address

shareholderbenefit@Princesscruises.com

In the subject line I put - attn: Liza McDaniel.

Thank you to the first person to post the information about this benefit and special thanks to Princess for doing this for the military community.

I called Princess yesterday and verified this. The Princess agent said to write to Princess Yield Management and give them your Booking Number, Ship, Sailing date and include Proof of Service. The address for Yield Management is 24844 Ave. Rockefeller, Santa Clarita, Ca. 91355. For my 14 day cruise in December I will receive $250 OBC.

You also need to fax a picture ID. I received my $100.00 OBC.

Hugh:)

Sorry did not know the ID was already mentioned

Hi

As a retired Royal Air Force Flight Sergeant ( 32 years service ), and avid Princess Cruiser, ( going up to Platinum status during Crown Princess cruise in Jan 2011 ) do I understand that Princess are not given OBC to British military? I ask this because I was only made aware of this discount this morning. I will stay with Princess, as I love cruising with them.

Many regards

Tony

Hi

I would like to pass on my thanks to the sentiments expressed by Griller and Zouave with regard to British Forces. I would like to add, that I always found the American Military very helpful, committed, and truly professional throughout my RAF service in the Gulf during Desert Storm (OP Granby), and Iraqi Freedom (OP TELIC). It was a pleasure serving with the US forces.

My very best regards to all

Tony

From what I've read on these boards, it does not appear that Princess is giving the OBC to British military, which is a shame. Thank you for your service.

Hi Tony,

I did email Princess US and ask them about this. They told me that UK forces are not entitled. I find this annoying with Princess being a British registered company but only Americans and Canadians get the benefit. But as I said in an earlier post, I think this may be more to do with the respect shown to US troops by the US public. Generating great publicity for companies that provide benefits.

I am really glad that they get it but wish we had parity.

I faxed my DH info to Princess over a month ago and still waiting for OBC. We booked with a large on-line TA (in fact one of the sponsors of Cruise Critic). I contacted them to ask if the OBC had been applied to our account about a week after faxing it to Princess. They checked and said no, but they would check on it. When they called they were told that my booking had been marked for the OBC, but had not been applied as of yet. They told the TA to call back the next week and check on it. This has been going on for three weeks now and still has not been applied to our booking. TA was told they are backed up and still working on the back log. We sail in 18 days and hoping it gets applied before we sail. Is any one else getting this run around?

I e-mailed copies on Monday and had a response and OBC on Tuesday. If it were me I would resend the documents.
