Private Island -- ID needed?

for all practical purposes, you are still on a NCL ship.

By the way, even though they always say in the daily paper that you need a photo id and your ship id, 90% of the time the ship ID is just fine. The only time you seem to need it is when the locals want to check ID to let you into the port area.

We always carry it anyways, though I would not bother on the private island as there is no local "authorities" to deal with.

The only place we have ever had our passport checked is Nassau.

We have had IDs checked at many ports. The most recent that come to mind were Port Canaveral (Yes Port Canaveral, USA) and Nassau. They also checked in Prince Rupert, Cobh, Santo Thomas, and others. They used to check much more than they do now especially right after 9/11. I remember the security on Star in 2002 was real strict and that was all Hawaii & Fanning Island.
