ATM Useage

Normally the ATM's provide a choice of languages but perhaps there are some that don't, so you may not have done anything wrong. Hopefully you were able to find another ATM that did have English as one of the language options.

In Italy most of the ATMs do have an English option but I agree if one doesn't do what you want go to another one.

The bank itself has nothing to do with the ATM operation. In fact , in my experience folks inside the bank look at you like you are crazy if you ask them for help.

In Tunisia we had to go to four ATM's before we got one to work, all were in French only and the first three would only say that the transaction had failed.

Quite often, ATMs in Europe will just stop working when they are out of cash rather than simply post notification.

In Bruges last year an ATM kept telling me that my card was invalid when, in fact, it did not have enough cash for my withdrawal.

The bank itself has nothing to do with the ATM operation.

Of course is does! Who do you think loads the cash and consumables?
